We investigate the interest of underwater wireless optical communications (UWOC) for such scenarios, where the link performance is affected by transmitter-receiver misalignment in practice. The focus is on the channel ergodic capacity based on an elaborate statistical model of the aquatic channel accounting for different phenomena such as surface wind speed, beam directivity, underwater unit beam misalignment, and solar noise, as well as the transmitter/receiver parameters. The presented results demonstrate the channel effects and provide interesting insight into the design of such links.","PeriodicalId":306222,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th West Asian Symposium on Optical and Millimeter-wave Wireless Communications (WASOWC)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126099487","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The RF network uses Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) communication protocols, ideal for long distance connections and for IoT networks where sensors with coverage between 100 m and 1 m without line of sight and with line of sight between 10 km and 20 km are needed, On the other hand there is an infrared (IR) Free Space Optical (FSO) laser communication link that operates as a network data concentrator and can send data at high transmission rates in the order of Gbps, being able to operate in the THz spectrum bands (~1012 GHz) without a license (wavelength 800–1700 nm), Thus, by using metrics such as Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) and Bit Error Rate (BER) of the proposed system, the performance of the Free Space Path Loss (FSPL) models using the “rational function” algorithm is compared with respect to the analytical Free Space Path Loss model and the empirical Oulo Path Loss model reaching a model. Studies have also been carried out on the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) to provide security in links such as the FSO laser, which uses TCP/IP connection.","PeriodicalId":306222,"journal":{"name":"2022 4th West Asian Symposium on Optical and Millimeter-wave Wireless Communications (WASOWC)","volume":"293 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134364836","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In commercial cameras, the exposure time is calculated as a function of the background light. In this paper, the effect of exposure time on the performance of an underwater optical camera communication (UWOCC) system is investigated various seawaters conditions. Furthermore, the effect of the link depth of UWOCC on the exposure time of a commercial camera is investigated. Monte Carlo is used to model the UWOCC system considering the channel absorption and scattering. We have derived closed-form expressions for the most important performance metrics of outage probability and bit error rate for both fixed-gain and channel state information (CSI)-assisted amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying. Moreover, an asymptotic analysis at high signal-to-noise-ratios (SNRs) is done and the diversity order of both relaying methods is derived which provide physical insights. We present an error sensitivity analysis, introducing a measurement error on a single fixture and studying the positioning error behaviour over each coordinate.
