The process of integrated wastewater treatment from nutrients and biogenic elements, especially from ammonia nitrogen and nitrogen compounds, is the main function in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant nowadays. Due to creating an aerobic and anoxic media in structures with suspended activated sludge, biochemical reactions of nitrification and denitrification are realized. To increase the efficiency of wastewater treatment from nitrogen compounds using suspended microflora, it is necessary to determine the influence of technological parameters – hydrogen ion concentration, dissolved oxygen level and oxidation-reduction potential (ORP) on the integrated biological wastewater treatment process.\u0000\u0000Materials and methods. Experiments aimed at solving the problems posed for each reaction were conducted in order to determine the influence of technological parameters on the rate of nitrification and denitrification in a biological contact reactor.\u0000\u0000Results. As a result of the experiment, the values of the specific rate of nitrification with the optimal pH value of the reactor were obtained. For the denitrification process, the ratio between the dissolved oxygen level, the ORP, and the specific denitrification rate are estimated.\u0000\u0000Conclusions. Currently, there are numerous discussions concerning a relevant issue – the impact of transformations of the higher education system on the quality of graduates of technical universities. It is important to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of modern higher education in construction in comparison with one of the Soviet period and to define the direction it should be developed in the future. The present article analyzes the changes that higher education in construction has undergone since 1955 to the present time.\u0000\u0000Materials and methods. The data used in the analysis include regulatory documents which regulated the implementation of educational activities in different years: orders, classifiers, model curricula and state educational standards. The requirements to the structure and results of the study of educational programs in the field of construction were analyzed.\u0000\u0000Results. The analysis showed that over the past decades, higher education in construction has undergone significant changes. Fundamental transformations took place at the turn of the millennium when changing from a disciplinary to a competence model of education, as well as from direct government management of the education system to the normative legal regulation of educational activities. If in Soviet times, training was delivered under model curricula of construction specialties, now training is mainly performed according to Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs, the content of which educational institutions determine independently on the basis of educational standards.\u0000\u0000Conclusions. The performed analysis identified the deficiencies in the modern system of higher education. The imperfection of the regulatory framework, the deficiencies of the competence approach make it impossible to ensure quality training of specialists in the construction industry. This involves improvement of higher education system, including in the field of construction. It is necessary to establish more detailed requirements to the study results and the content of educational programs. Water engineering facilities utilize geosynthetic barriers of various materials, but the most common are polyvinylchloride (PVC) and polyethylene (PE) considered to be the most efficient. However, the utilization of thermoset geosynthetics (PVC and PE) as watertight elements of the geosynthetic barriers of earth dams has also a number of drawbacks. In the course of time, PVC can lose its properties due to plasticizer loss, whereas PE is susceptible to cracking at thermal impacts. That is why it is necessary to consider geosynthetic barriers of other types as alternatives. For this purpose, we studied the deformability and the strength of geosynthetic barriers of thermoset material (chlorosulfonated polyethylene — CSPE), as well as of a rubber-type synthetic material (ethylene-propylene diene monomer — EPDM).\u0000\u0000Materials and methods. Sample testing of geosynthetic barrier materials for monoaxial extension was conducted by means of a tensile-testing machine, which records during the experiment the changes of the tensile force and the longitudinal extension. The changes of the cross-section area of the samples were measured by means of a digital side caliper.\u0000\u0000Results. It was determined that of the considered geosynthetic barrier types (PE, PVC, CSPE and EPDM) the strongest one is the reinforced CSPE type and the most deformable is the EPDM barrier. Reinforced CSPE geosynthetic barrier has a tensile strength above 100 MPa, it is approximately 5 times higher than that of PVC and PE barriers. By deformability, reinforced CSPE barrier is similar to PE barriers. An EPDM geosynthetic barrier has the linear deformation modulus around 1 MPa, it is capable of a multiple extension without loss of strength.\u0000\u0000Conclusions. В настоящее время недостаточно изучены проблемы, связанные с исследованием технологичности процессов при устройстве инновационных инженерных систем зданий. В научной статье приводится анализ различных вариантов устройства систем озеленения кровельных покрытий. Цель работы состоит в анализе технологических процессов, связанных с устройством различных видов систем озеленения на кровле, позволяющих минимизировать трудоемкость процессов за счет технологичности устройства кровельных покрытий. В соответствии с целью были поставлены и решены задачи: анализ исследований российских и зарубежных ученых в области «зеленого» строительства и технологий возведения кровельных покрытий; определение технологичности процессов эксплуатируемых кровельных покрытий с системами озеленения. Для обеспечения снижения общей трудоемкости при устройстве кровельных покрытий с зелеными насаждениями, так называемых «зеленых» кровель, возможно применять новые технологические решения, в том числе вариант устройства «зеленых» кровель модульного озеленения. Материалы и методы. Применены методы сравнительного анализа, сетевого планирования и теории расписаний. Результаты. Определили показатели технологичности для различных вариантов устройства систем озеленения кровельных покрытий: «зеленые» кровли сплошного озеленения (вариант А), «зеленые» кровли модульного озеленения (вариант Б). Выводы. Масштабное строительство морских сооружений в прибрежной зоне Вьетнама требует разработки новых составов вяжущих веществ для гидротехнических бетонов и технологий приготовления бетонных смесей, а также их транспортирования к месту укладки. Материалы и методы. Для получения растворной смеси использовано вяжущее, состоящее из сульфатостойкого портландцемента с добавлением тонкодисперсных минеральных добавок в виде низкокальциевой золы уноса (ЗУ) ТЭС «Вунг Анг» и микрокремнезема SF-90 (МК-90). Использован суперпластификатор SR 5000F и речной кварцевый песок. Формы и размеры частиц порошкообразных сырьевых материалов определяли методом лазерной гранулометрии, исследование минерального состава сульфатостойкого цемента проводилось с помощью рентгенофазового анализа, влияние комплексных органоминеральных добавок на особенности фазового состава цементного камня изучали методом термогравиметрического анализа, состав растворной смеси рассчитывали по методике абсолютных объемов. Результаты. Исследовано применение комплексных органоминеральных добавок разработанных составов, состоящих в процентах от массы цемента из 1,1–1,45 % суперпластификатора SF 5000F, 10–15 % МК-90 и 30 % ЗУ, приводящее к ускорению в 1,4–1,9 раза набора прочности на сжатие и растяжение при изгибе образцами из цементно-песчаных растворов на основе сульфатостойкого цемента как в раннем возрасте, так и к 28 сут по сравнению с контрольными образцами. Установлено, что включение в состав модифицирующих добавок МК-90 и ЗУ благодаря их высокой пуццоланической активности позволяет снизить на 1,27–3,29 % содержание портландита в цементном камне в возрасте 28 сут по сравнению контрольным составом. Выводы. The gradual progressive evolvement of civil engineering as a science was nurtured by numerous discoveries, errors and regularities contributed by philosophers, mathematicians, engineers, architects, and researchers focused on versatile areas of knowledge. The author analyzes the transformation of civil engineering as a science since ancient times, as well as its dependence on historical events, territoriality, and discoveries. The objective of the research, covered by the article, consists in the detailed analysis of the history of civil engineering and the prognostication of its future development pattern.\u0000\u0000Materials and methods. The author employed systematization, benchmarking, and theoretical generalization of the information collected from literary sources.\u0000\u0000Results. The author has analyzed a number of Russian and foreign literary sources covering the formation and evolution of the civil engineering science, beginning with the works of ancient thinkers and philosophers and ending with the works of contemporary researchers. The author breaks down the history of analysis/design of buildings/structures into four development phases that have evolved into the present-day design procedure. The author also provides detailed information on ancient scholars, starting from those who lived in the second millennium B.C., and their contribution into the theory of building design. She highlights the most important works written by ancient philosophers and mathematicians all over the world, particularly those who influenced the development of the design theory. The author provides examples and photos of still-standing unique buildings and structures that date back to each development phase. Every step of civil engineering development is illustrated by buildings and descriptions of their constructions. The author also analyzes the most prominent attainments made in the field of structural mechanics and design of buildings at each development stage. She has tracked the evolvement of civil engineering since the inception of written languagest.\u0000\u0000Conclusions. A rockfill dam with a concrete screen is considered as an alternative to a traditional earth-faced rockfill dam in the process of designing a high-pressure Pskemsky hydraulic facility in Uzbekistan. A rockfill dam with a concrete screen has several strengths. However the geological structure of the dam site complexifies the application of a rockfill dam with a concrete screen, because dam boards have a deep layer of gritstone. There arose a need to study the stress-strain state of a 190 m dam in 2D and 3D settings. Materials and methods. The finite element method (FEM) and numerical modeling were employed to study the stress-strain state of the dam. The modulus of linear deformation of the rockfill top reaches 480 MPa, the one of the rockfill bottom — 240 MPa. The concrete deformation module was taken as equal to 29 and 12 hPa. The analysis took account of the isolation joint that separated the central part of the screen from its bank parts, while the contact surface of the screen and the dam body had a layer of friction-reduction emulsion. По аналогии с Чарвакской плотиной [1], расположенной ниже по течению на р. Чирчик, в качестве водоподпорного сооружения предполагается использовать каменно-земляную плотину с центральным ядром. Упорные призмы высотой 190 м будут выполнены из горной массы, а ядро — из суглинка. Из-за высокой сейсмичности профиль каменно-земляной плотины запроектирован распластанным. Это существенно увеличивает стоимость строительства и снижает его экономическую эффективность. Поэтому в качестве альтернативной конструкции плотины рассматривается каменно-набросная плотина с бетонным экраном (КНБЭ), профиль которой может быть более обжатым. У КНБЭ большое количество преимуществ [2–5], они получили широкое распространение за рубежом [4–6]. В России эти плотины называют каменно-набросными плотинами с железобетонным экраном. За рубежом накоплен большой опыт строительства и эксплуатации высоких КНБЭ. Однако этот опыт показывает, что надежность противофильтрационного бетонного экрана (БЭ) в сверхвысоких плотинах не гарантирована. Имеются случаи нарушения целостности экрана в виде образования крупных сквозных трещин [7–16]. The study focuses on the operation of a standalone membrane bioreactor applicable as an alternative to submerged membrane modules widely used as part of small capacity wastewater treatment facilities.\u0000\u0000Materials and methods. An ultra-filtration membrane was used to perform the research in a laboratory environment. The liquid, exposed to research, represented synthetic wastewater, whose composition was similar to the one of urban wastewaters, and it had varied concentrations of suspended solids (MLSS). The membrane element, produced by Raifil (Republic of Korea), that has capillary ultra-filtration membranes, was used in the experiments. The membrane pore size is 1 micron. The total membrane filter area is one square meter. This membrane module has standard characteristics (pore size, material), typical for ultra-filtration membranes; therefore, we can assume that any further results will not demonstrate any substantial discrepancies, if ultra-filtration membranes made by other manufacturers are used to conduct experiments.\u0000\u0000Results. The author describes a methodology for the optimization of pressure and MLSS values used in the process of membrane treatment. The author obtained the pressure values at which the amount of suspended solids in the filtered material shows a sharp rise, which means a slip of suspended solids into the filtrate, or a slip of contaminants. The author also identified the operating parameters that ensure maximal capacity.\u0000\u0000Conclusions. Работа свай-стоек в грунте основания фундамента и метод их расчета на надежность как меры эксплуатационной безопасности отдельного несущего элемента в свайном основании требуют уточнения и дальнейшего развития. Недостатком существующего расчета на надежность сваи-стойки по несущей способности грунта основания является неучет в ее работе грунта основания выше скального или малосжимаемого слоя грунта во всех случаях в соответствии с СП 24.13330.2011. Учет несущей способности этого слоя грунта в работе сваи-стойки на восприятие нагрузки (с учетом веса сваи) может повысить ее надежность по критерию несущей способности грунта основания в комплексе с работой грунта под нижним концом сваи. Материалы и методы. Рассмотрены сваи-стойки из любых применяемых материалов, методы расчетов их надежности построены на основе теории возможностей в связи с ограниченностью по объему статистической информации о контролируемых параметрах в расчетной модели предельного состояния по несущей способности грунта основания. Результаты. Представлена расчетная формула для определения надежности значения безотказной работы сваистойки в грунте основания по несущей способности грунта. Расчет надежности сваи по несущей способности сваи (по прочности материала) приведен в ссылках на литературу. Указано на определение надежности сваи-стойки по обоим критериям работоспособности как последовательной механической системы в понятиях теории надежности. Выводы. The main issue of the study is the problem of improving the quality of education. As part of the comprehensive and effective development of educational institutions of the Russian Federation, it is necessary to meet the requirements for providing new and innovative tools for quality control of education. One of these tools is the use of a score-rating system for assessing students of higher educational institutions. Purpose of research is to analyze and improve the existing methods of evaluation of students of higher educational institutions.\u0000\u0000Materials and methods. The comparative analysis of existing methods of assessment of students is applied. The main shortcomings of the traditional system of evaluation of students of higher educational institutions are determined by empirical method.\u0000\u0000Results. The new score-rating system for assessing students has been developed that meets modern standards of higher education in the Russian Federation and includes a multi-level system of criteria that take into account all stages of student-teacher interaction.\u0000\u0000Conclusions. The developed system of criteria can be applied to absolutely any discipline with any amount of load.
