We interact with voice-based assistants through smartphones, dedicated home devices, or other Internet-connected devices. The proliferation of these devices in our lives makes us question whether the data transmitted through these devices are secure and the role perception of privacy the users of these devices have in the usage of the device. This paper focuses on the user privacy issues specific to two voice-based assistants – Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant using quantitative and qualitative methods. The paper will answer three research questions regarding user privacy perceptions and how a user’s technology adoption, smartphone operating system, and demographics influence their perception of privacy.\u0000Study design/methodology/approach: This is a mixed research study where survey data was collected from faculty, staff, and students of a large University in the United States and professional connections globally.\u0000Findings: Privacy perceptions vary based on user age, educational level, gender, smartphone adoption, and technical awareness and expertise.\u0000Originality/value: This study is unique in highlighting the perception of privacy for voice-based assistants and assigning a numerical value based on survey data to the concern. Another feature of the study is its correlation of privacy perception with mobile phone operating systems and the level of technical expertise of voice-based assistant users.

Basic education in these two interconnected areas should already be offered in schools, as practically everyone today can encounter the dangers and risks of the Internet in terms of data theft, data manipulation or the like. However, the topics of cybersecurity and data privacy are generally abstract, and many people are not interested in such rather technical topics. To arouse interest and provide a certain basic education, we used ‘peer instruction’ combined with storytelling as a promising method. Within the framework of an EU project called GEIGER and with the support of students who have learned data privacy by means of the presented method, the method has been further developed, applied, tested, reflected, and iteratively improved. In summary, the method presented is useful for the topics of cybersecurity and data privacy, but the recommendations compiled must be considered in particular with regard to careful preparation and testing.

The purpose of this research was to explore the lived experiences of middle managers within the messy realities of strategising during organisational change. \u0000Study design/methodology/approach: Using a qualitative, intrinsic, single-case study grounded in Weick’s sense-making theory, the sense-making practices of middle managers during organisational change were explored. Data was gathered through email journals over four months and enabled real-time tracking of microlevel strategising after change implementation. A constructionist form of thematic analysis was adopted and explored middle managers’ organisational social reality. \u0000Findings: Sense-making occurs on a cognitive and emotional level. They moderate, organize, and observe the group and individual learning processes and are often students’ first point of contact. This support requires several competencies, which are also largely reflected in the so-called future skills. Thus, it seems sensible to examine these competencies more closely and promote them to enhance the course experience and support for students in COIL settings on the one hand and to make student e-tutors fit for the modern working world on the other.\u0000Study design/methodology/approach: As a starting point for this project, a comprehensive systematic literature analysis on e-tutor competencies and qualifications was conducted in Langesee (2023). A competency ranking and task-based competency profile for e-tutors in higher education were developed during this research. To investigate the validity and practicability of these artifacts, an evaluation was conducted with 16 international experts and practitioners (e-tutors) using a questionnaire.\u0000Findings: The competencies identified in Langesee (2023), the ranking, and the profile created were recognized as helpful and practical. Additional comments from respondents allowed both artifacts to be revised and expanded. The three most relevant competencies of the nine detected are communication, pedagogical and social competencies.\u0000Originality/value: The resulting artifacts can be used in the next step as a basis for a self-evaluation tool (SET), enabling e-tutors to assess their competence equipment. The review was guided by two key questions; what has been the literature on KM in Ghanaian Businesses? How have the various KM activities been applied, and in which sectors of the economy?\u0000Methodology: The study was conducted based on an organized review of several papers searched through the various databases, including google scholar and springer link, with some inclusion and exclusion criteria. In the search, a total of 32 papers were deemed to be related to the aim of the paper. A quick scan of the abstract resulted in 20 papers best fit the criteria set and the focus was on papers that related to the KM processes and enablers and were related to the aim of the study.\u0000Findings: The review revealed interesting findings; key among them is that the papers reviewed were dominated by studies in the public sector and specifically in the service industry, accounting for over 50% of all the articles searched. It also came up that significant challenges confronting businesses in implementing KM are lack of available KM systems, lack of leadership support, and lack of awareness of KM practices. On the issue of the KM processes that dominated the studies, it revealed that over 70% of the studies focused on KM sharing or transfer. Finally, it identified that the application of KM activities results in several benefits including innovation and business competitiveness.\u0000Originality: The studies and papers on KM activities in Ghanaian businesses, particularly in the areas of KM processes and enablers are dominated by knowledge-sharing activities. Again, in assessing the sectors that dominated the discussion, it was evident that services sectors prevailed.

Humans define their realities and worldviews through culture, ethnicity, language, semiotics, systems of meanings, communities of practice, and other physical and sensory interpretations within information systems. But since multiple factors in time and space define one's information systems, we theorize that alternative interpretive models exist for applications of the same situations when perceived by others.\u0000Study design/methodology/approach: We explored this inherent knowledge management phenomenon of human information systems entanglements through the literature review of respected scientists, theorists, academics, and philosophers; and herein present our theory of entangled human information systems.\u0000Findings: Since all human information systems are dependent upon the continuous management of tacit and explicit knowledge, and the understandings and meanings of the individual experiencing the situation, they may be matrixed, nested, and overlapped with multiple information systems; and because they can exist alone, apart, together, or at different times and places and survive, they are entangled. We theorize that similar to a movable quantum particle, human information systems are also entangled, superpositioned, and juxtaposed in two or more states concurrently; and when interpreted and applied pluralistically, they create an infinite number of simultaneous human information systems in which we reside.\u0000Originality/value: This qualitative approach to inquiry focuses upon understanding the construct of human information systems entanglements and their similarities to quantum entanglements, by exploring the “how” and “why” they occurs, rather than examining the “what” and “how many.”
