The antenna is composed of a square ring with a T-shaped strip, so that the antenna occupies about 7.68GHz bandwidth covering 3.08-10.76GHz with expected band rejection of 5.06GHz to 5.89GHz. A quasi- omnidirectional and quasi-symmetrical radiation pattern is also obtained. Zhu, Jin-ping Xu","doi":"10.1109/GSMM.2008.4534618","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/GSMM.2008.4534618","url":null,"abstract":"In the design of millimeter wave voltage control oscillators (VCOs), it is fairly important to establish the relationship between load impedance looking outward from active device and the impedance of varactor diode, so that load impedance can be related to the variation of varactor diode's impedance due to changing its dc bias voltage. In this paper, self impedance of radial line transformer (RLT) mounted on Gunn device has been calculated with mode matching methods at first. Numerical results of self impedance with respect to various circuit parameters are presented. General rules concerning self impedance by virtue of various structural parameters of the VCO have been deduced. Furthermore, an equivalent two-port network is presented in terms of impedance matrix, which is constructed by self impedance embedded on Gunn device and mutual impedance of two RLTs which has been calculated previously. Compared to conventional DGS, the V-slot DGS not only provides a high Q factor, but also has a simple shape and a steep slope of band edge. The resonance frequency, attenuation, bandwidth and Q factor are dependent on the structural parameters of the V-slot DGS. A single V-slot DGS can provide Q factor of more than 50. The band rejection filter with three cascaded V-slot DGS provides Q factor of 19.86 and rejects the frequency from 4.31 to 4.41 GHz with more than 30-dB suppression. The paper presents the electromagnetic modeling method of via based on the principle of microwave network in multilayer microwave circuit. The proposed method with a suitable well-posed perfectly matched layer is developed as an accurate and flexible tool for the simulation of electromagnetic wave propagation and scattering in conductive and inhomogeneous media. This approach allows for an accurate treatment of curved geometries with a high efficiency. Digitally controlled switch array is used in this design to achieve sufficient frequency tuning range and low phase noise. The oscillation frequency can be tuned from 5.03 GHz to 5.32 GHz through the 2-bit switch array. By coordinate transformation, the radiation power of electric quadrupole in rectangular coordinate system are obtained. The theoretical results indicate that the radiation power is correlative with magnetic conductivity of the anisotropic medium.
