Yet, they may also use their works to articulate their concerns and critics upon particular socio-cultural practices. Literary works then is ideological. Utilizing Critical Discourse Analysis as the approach and Transitivity as the analytical tool, this study then focuses on uncovering representation of female character in a selected short story by Anton Chekhov. Representation here is perceived as discursive practice in which patriarchy is considered to be the working ideology. The results show that female character is represented stereotypically and gender-biased in what she does, what she says, what she thinks and what she feels. The result also suggests that the practice of dual representation and ambivalence is also evident in female character representation.","PeriodicalId":303917,"journal":{"name":"BEYOND LINGUISTIKA","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134080074","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In terms of teachers’ roles in giving correction, the popular misunderstanding overemphasizes teachers’ responsibility in carrying out the task while ignoring learners’ roles in the process of error correction. Accordingly, this paper aims to signify the advantages of coded feedback in relation to the development of EFL learners’ writing skill. Notwithstanding coded feedback’s requiring learners’ autonomy during the error correction process, the method offers a challenging and stimulating way of error correction in writing. This paper will cover the characteristics of coded feedback and its benefits towards the learners’ writing skill development.","PeriodicalId":303917,"journal":{"name":"BEYOND LINGUISTIKA","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123810330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
