On the Hanshin Expressway, the permanent seismic observation was performed using measuring instruments installed in the structure, and many earthquakes were also observed in the earthquake. In this study, we investigated the response reproducibility by the dynamic analysis model used for the design, using the measured seismic waves. In the seismic response analysis in which the acceleration measured on the foundation is directly input to the lower end of the dynamic analysis model, the displacement of the other observation point can be approximated, and the validity of the analysis method was confirmed.","PeriodicalId":303487,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Japan Society of Civil Engineers, Ser. Previous research on microtopography have focused on the high risk of liquefaction, but these studies generally used empirical qualitative evaluations to determine the range and magni-tude of liquefaction in such areas. In the case of the Kumamoto earthquakes of 2016, despite accurate predictions by such maps of areas with high liquefaction risk, there were large discrepancies between the predicted and actual extent of liquefaction. With the aim of improving the accuracy with which the extent of liquefaction could be predicted using geomorphological land classification maps, field evaluations were conducted on liquefied natural levees in Minami-ku, Kumamoto. Furthermore, the relationships between the microtopography and the ground char-acteristics were analyzed. The results showed that the ground composition in the liquefied areas were dif-ferent from those in non-liquefied areas. Based on these findings, we further focused on the transitional processes of microtopographies with high risk of liquefaction and developed an evaluation procedure to predict the range of liquefaction occurrences in areas with similar microtopographies.","PeriodicalId":303487,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Japan Society of Civil Engineers, Ser. The cause of the cracks is mainly due to out-of-plane bending of 12mm thickness deck plate. As an effective measure against those cracks, steel-fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) overlays have been used for many existing damaged OSDs. It has been confirmed that they can drastically decrease the out-of-plane deformation of the deck plate and greatly reduce the local stress of the weld route portion where the cracks initiate. However, the effect of the SFRC overlay under the existence of deck crack inside the deck plate has not been clarified. In this paper, for the purpose of evaluating the retrofit perfor-mance under existing deck cracks, fatigue tests of the OSD specimens with pre-cracking inside the deck plates were carried out under SFRC overlay. Also, local stresses and stress intensity factors were analyzed by FEA, and effectiveness of SFRC overlay was assessed from the viewpoint of preventing the deck cracks from progressing.","PeriodicalId":303487,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Japan Society of Civil Engineers, Ser. However, these bridge restrainers cannot be applied to the case when failure occurs in the entire superstructures. Therefore, a self-anchored cable-type collapse prevention device was newly pro-posed to prevent the entire collapse of bridge systems. This device makes use of the catenary action of the cables to support the overall length of the failed super-structures. Herein, the applicability of the cable-type collapse prevention device to an upper deck-type single span truss bridge was examined experimen-tally and numerically, assuming that seriously corroded lower chord members suddenly fail.","PeriodicalId":303487,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Japan Society of Civil Engineers, Ser.
