I used image processing for segmentation. The purpose of this study is to develop a more reliable hybrid system than individual one. The license plate number of the vehicles taken from an acceptable distance from it up to 10m. This hybrid system that is composed of transformation to gray level, histogram equalization, thresholding and some novel algorithms in finding the character of license plate number. These novel algorithms were successively integrated in such a way as to complement with morphological image processing methods. However, Image correlation and neural network with LVQ (Learning Vector Quantization) learning methods were used for template matching extracted from license plate number. The novel algorithm makes powerful increase on success rate of template matching. It extracts features (area, centroid i.e.) of object and then uses them to eliminate noise and extract characters. Experimental results show the hybrid system is quite successful in recognizing private Turkish license plates.","PeriodicalId":301397,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications","volume":"6 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133622814","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

UMLS Semantic Network includes valuable data for modeling contents of the biomedical domain. However, the use of the Semantic Network is limited as it has a complex structure. Therefore, representing the SN in Web Ontology Language (OWL), which has semantically reusable and sharable format developed for use in the Semantic Web, allows applications to use the Semantic Network for supporting knowledge-intensive biomedical actions. This paper includes a discussion on alternative representations of UMLS SN elements in OWL.","PeriodicalId":301397,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133142279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective functions that have been considered are, namely, the probabilities of failure of settling time (PTs), of control effort (Pu) and of stability of closed-loop system (Pi) in the reliability-based design optimization (RBDO) approach. A new multi-objective uniform-diversity genetic algorithm (MUGA) is used for Pareto optimum design of state feedback controllers for two-mass-spring problem. It is shown that multi-objective reliability-based Pareto optimization of the robust state feedback controllers using MUGA with OFS includes those that may be obtained by various crisp threshold values of probability of failures and, thus, remove the difficulty of selecting suitable crisp values. Besides, the multi-objective Pareto optimization of such robust feedback controllers using MUGA unveils some very important and informative trade-offs among those objective functions.","PeriodicalId":301397,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133071859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is not achieved unless the iris patterns are well represented. Gabor filtering is vastly used in iris recognition literature for feature extraction. Conventionally, Gabor parameters value are supplied by pre-knowledgeable values so that the filter bank size is increased to prevent the losing information. In this paper, multi objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) is used to optimize the Gabor-wavelet in order to reduce the filter requirements and increasing the accuracy. The feature vectors are encoded by phase quantization and a novel method based on iris texture variation. One of the data mining tasks is classification, which aims to assign the given datasets to the most suitable classes. Classification rules are used in many domains such as medical sciences, banking, and meteorology. However, discovering classification rules is challenging due to large size and noisy structure of the datasets, and the difficulty of discovering general and meaningful rules. In the literature, there are several classical and heuristic algorithms proposed to mine classification rules out of large datasets. In this paper, a new and novel heuristic classification data mining approach based on artificial bee colony algorithm (ABC) was proposed (ABC-Miner). The proposed approach was compared with Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) rule classification algorithm and C4.5 algorithm using benchmark datasets. The experimental results show the efficiency of the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":301397,"journal":{"name":"2011 International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124864349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A 3D face depth map is artificially illuminated by known sources from several known directions and a set of samples from each resulting image is collected.
