Carol Dweck and her colleagues, who have focused their studies in this field, have developed the implicit theory of intelligence, which deals with this topic. According to the implicit theory of intelligence, which is based on people's beliefs about the nature of their intelligence, these beliefs are the perspectives on whether the intellectual abilities of individuals are fixed or whether they can be developed or not. Implicit theory of intelligence; expresses people's beliefs related to their intelligence as a structure consisting of two parts: the growth mindset and the fixed mindset. The implicit theory of intelligence see intelligence as ranging from either being stable, fixed, unchangeable, and innate (fixed mindset) or being improvable, dynamic, malleable, and could be changed by effort or hard work (growth mindset). This theory has been renamed as growth mindset in the recent period. Shortly, growth mindset interventions. Express that human abilities are not fixed and these abilities can be developed. However, as a result of a detailed search in the national literature, it has been determined that there is no study growth mindset. Therefore, in this study, it is aimed to introduce growt mindset, whose effectiveness has been tested by many studies and evidence-based, especially to young researchers working in the academic field and field workers in Türkiye.","PeriodicalId":30098,"journal":{"name":"Psikiyatride Guncel Yaklasimlar","volume":"24 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89799229","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Serum paraoxonase (PON-1) activity, which is negatively affected by increased Hcy concentrations are lower in schizophrenia, and this may impact the development of metabolic side effects. Forty-five subjects with schizophrenia and 43 healthy volunteers, matched according to age, gender, smoking habits, and MetS predictors, were enrolled in this study to examine how Hcy level, PON-1 activity, and MetS indicators influence each other in schizophrenic individuals on AA treatment. Serum Hcy concentrations were significantly higher (15 ± 8 μmol/L vs 12 ± 3 μmol/L), and PON activity tended to be impaired (182±82 U/L vs 216 ± 110 U/L) in schizophrenia. Serum Hcy concentrations were not different between subjects with and without metabolic syndrome in study (14±4 μmol/L and 16±9 μmol/L) and control groups (12±3 μmol/L and 13±7 μmol/L), respectively. Similarly, PON and aryl esterase (AE) activities were not different between subjects with and without metabolic syndrome in study (PON: 185±100 U/L and 181±76 U/L; AE: 84±34 kU/L and 89±20 kU/L) and control (PON: 215±111 U/L and 216±113 U/L; AE: 83±27 kU/L and 88±33 kU/L) groups, respectively. . Hcy levels and MetS predictors were not statistically correlated. Results indicate that schizophrenic subjects on AA treatment have increased levels of Hcy compared to healthy controls and this is not influenced by the presence of MetS.","PeriodicalId":30098,"journal":{"name":"Psikiyatride Guncel Yaklasimlar","volume":"42 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82034914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The frequency of thin body perception, which has entered our lives with popular culture, is increasing. Pregorexia negatively affects both the health of the mother and the development of the baby. Pregnancy is a complex physiological and spiritual period for the mother. First of all, clinicians should be careful about eating disorders during pregnancy. Pregnant women may be unnoticed in terms of eating disorders in the outpatient clinic. In the treatment duration, it is very important to inform the mother about the importance of nutrition during pregnancy. The mother should be informed about nutrition and psychiatric treatment support should be provided. Past research revealed that although participants reported low levels of life satisfaction, they were hesitant to seek psychological help. In the literature, this situation has been defined as mental health treatment gap. In this context, research focuses on reducing the treatment gap by identifying factors that facilitate and hinder seeking psychological help. Many studies consistently report that men are more reluctant to seek psychological help than women. Therefore, there is a need for a more detailed examination of the factors that affect men's reluctance to seek psychological help. Based on this fact, the study's primary purpose is to provide enlightening information about why men avoid seeking psychological help and the factors that encourage them to seek help. In this study, masculinity's role in seeking help is emphasized in the context of Social Identity Theory. However, past research findings on situations and contexts in which men are willing to seek psychological help are presented. Practitioners and researchers in the mental health field, such as psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and psychological counselors, can learn a lot from the review's opinions on the role of traditional masculine norms in seeking psychological help.","PeriodicalId":30098,"journal":{"name":"Psikiyatride Guncel Yaklasimlar","volume":"60 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76795253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each suicide has many physical, economic and psychological short and long-term effects on the individual, family, friends and society. The death of an individual as a result of suicide creates a traumatic effect for family members and causes family members to experience various psychosocial problems. For this reason, it is very important to focus on the consequences of suicide in family members who have lost due to suicide, to evaluate the family's reactions to suicide, and to provide the needed psychosocial support. In this context, in this review, it is aimed to review the literature on the psychosocial problems experienced by families who have lost due to suicide and to present up-to-date information on the role of psychiatric nurse in improving the psychosocial health status of families.","PeriodicalId":30098,"journal":{"name":"Psikiyatride Guncel Yaklasimlar","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78878872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the research, a meta-synthesis study was carried out including 61 studies, 3 of which were theses and 58 were articles, published between 1981-2021. The studies used in the research were accessed in Dissertations and Theses Global-Proquest, Eric-EBSCOhost, MEDLINE, Science Direct, Scopus, SpringerLink, Taylor and Francis Online, Wiley, ULAKBIM, YÖK Thesis Center and Google Scholar databases. Published articles or theses about determining the nature of academic anxiety in the literature were included in the study. In the examined studies, the relationship of academic anxiety with more than one variable was investigated and it was determined that most studies focused on examining the differences based on demographic variables. The survey model was the most frequently chosen research method, and qualitative research methods were not sufficiently used. The studies examined were carried out mostly by using the questionnaire method in high school level age groups and sample groups of 101-300 people. Therefore, in order to carry out new studies with larger working groups, to examine the academic anxiety of students at higher education level and to carry out reviews, scale development or adaptation studies for higher education students are needed. In addition, there was a limited number of experimental studies conducted about reducing student academic anxiety. Survey and relational based quantitative research needs to be supported by experimental methods.","PeriodicalId":30098,"journal":{"name":"Psikiyatride Guncel Yaklasimlar","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78826106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although crypto currency trading has been investigated in many aspects, the psychological dimension that directly affects investors has often been ignored. Control of cryptocurrency trading is in the hands of investors rather than a central authority or institution. Thus, the value of cryptocurrencies changes with the reactions of investors. This situation suggests that psychological factors may be more prominent in cryptocurrency trading. Cryptocurrency trading has many similarities with gambling and betting, such as risk taking, getting quick returns, extreme gains or losses. Some significant components of behavioral addiction are also seen in individuals who spend so much time with cryptocurrency trading. The purpose of this article is to provide a better understanding of the psychological effects of cryptocurrency trading, which has entered our lives over a relatively brief period of time and reached millions of investors.","PeriodicalId":30098,"journal":{"name":"Psikiyatride Guncel Yaklasimlar","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87075981","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A total of 16 male students aged 14-15 years, 8 in the experimental group and 8 in the control group, participated in the study. A partially mixed simultaneous equal-status design, one of the mixed design models, was used in the study. In the quantitative dimension of the study, the Self-Efficacy Scale for Children was administered to collect data. In the qualitative dimension of the study, the researcher's observations were utilized. According to the results of the study, it was concluded that there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group in favor of the post-test and that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. Therefore, expression-based group counseling can be considered to be effective in increasing adolescents' self-efficacy.","PeriodicalId":30098,"journal":{"name":"Psikiyatride Guncel Yaklasimlar","volume":"10 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75196730","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Suicidal Behavior in Eating Disorders 饮食失调中的自杀行为

{"title":"Suicidal Behavior in Eating Disorders","authors":"","doi":"10.18863/pgy.1224756","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18863/pgy.1224756","url":null,"abstract":"Many studies have shown that people with eating disorders have higher rates of suicidal ideation, suicide attempts, and completed suicide than the general population. One of the diseases with the highest suicide rate among psychiatric disorders is anorexia nervosa. Some hypotheses have been proposed to explain possible causes of increased suicidal behavior in eating disorders. Some conditions common to eating disorders and suicidal behavior, such as dissatisfaction with the body and interoceptive deficits, have been cited. It has been conclusively shown that psychiatric comorbidity, especially the co-diagnosis of depression, increases the risk of suicide in patients with eating disorders. However, increased suicidal behavior in eating disorders cannot be explained by comorbidity alone. The interpersonal psychological theory of suicide (IPTS), developed by Joiner, aims to understand why people commit suicide and to explain the differences in individual suicidal behavior. Some researchers have thought that the increased suicidal behavior of people with eating disorders, especially anorexia nervosa patients, is expected from the perspective of IPTS. The compensatory behaviors of patients with eating disorders, such as vomiting or chronic restrictive food intake, are painful and challenging actions for the body. It can be considered that repeated encounters with painful and challenging experiences form a habit in the individual and reduce pain avoidance. When viewed from the IPTS perspective, decreased pain avoidance may explain the increased suicide attempts and completed suicides of individuals. Clinicians working with eating disorder patients must conduct regular and comprehensive assessments of suicide. Comorbidities such as major depression, anxiety disorder, and substance-use disorder should not be overlooked in patients with eating disorders and should be taken seriously.","PeriodicalId":30098,"journal":{"name":"Psikiyatride Guncel Yaklasimlar","volume":"29 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88499935","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is based on the idea of teaching parents the skills of structuring, emphatic listening, imaginary play and limit-setting and enabling their children to become play therapists. The overall aim is to strengthen the child-parent relationship. It is a structured, 10-week, group format training for parents with children aged 3-10. After 3 week-parent training, special play sessions with their children for 7 weeks begin in parallel with the training sessions. These sessions teach parents to recognize their children's emotions, listen effectively, build self-esteem, and set boundaries therapeutically, while helping parents develop parenting skills. In this review, the history of Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, its aims, parent-child interaction and training dimensions, playroom and toy selection, content of training sessions and research studies on its effectiveness are explained. Evaluating the model, it was seen that CPRT was an effective approach in reducing parental stress and behavioral problems of children, and improving parental acceptance and empathy levels.","PeriodicalId":30098,"journal":{"name":"Psikiyatride Guncel Yaklasimlar","volume":"18 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90745095","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
