The nurse rostering problem (NRP) is a well-known scheduling problem that focuses on determining the day-to-day shift assignments of each nurse. We present a method to investigate the application of automata theory which can be tailored to the requirements of a clinic to satisfy the required workload to the available staff nurses so that the operational demands can be met. It specifically helps to schedule the roster of the nurses according to the conditions of the healthcare organizations. The proposed solution illustrated how the requirements are uniquely determined by parsing them through a sequence. The output will be generated using one type of finite state transducer, mealy machine to assign the actual shift.","PeriodicalId":300885,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Technology (IICAIET)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130022167","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It can be obtained through direct physical measurement at the air-gap or indirectly by using estimators. In this paper, the feedforward Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model for rotor flux estimation is proposed and analyzed. The network is trained using equivalent circuit model data and the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. The result shows that the proposed ANN rotor flux estimator is able to perform IM rotor flux estimation with 2.99e-05 MSE.","PeriodicalId":300885,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Technology (IICAIET)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123799812","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Undeniably, deciding on the university program is a sophisticated problem that involves a broad range of factors, such as geographic location, overall cost, campus security, personality, etc. Most of these factors, for instance, geographic location and campus security only have temporary impact on the school-leavers while they are attending to university. Nevertheless, the personality factor appears to be the long-term and the most crucial determinant of the success in their professional life. When choosing the university program, school-leavers often make the mistake of following friends' footsteps or adhering to parents' decisions, only to realize years later that it is not what suits their personality or what they want. Considering these challenges, this work studies on the Holland's Personality Test to examine the personality of school-leavers. There are six personality types in Holland's Personality Test, represented as RIASEC code or Holland code. On top of that, this work also compiles a comprehensive list of university programs with their corresponding Holland code. An expert system is then engineered to encode the information into the knowledge base. Upon taking the Holland Personality Test, the expert system will update the facts list based on the answers given. Subsequently, the inference engine activates the production rules if the conditions are fulfilled. Ultimately, the personality type and recommended university program are presented to the school-leavers.","PeriodicalId":300885,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Technology (IICAIET)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124129914","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We extracted only the response scenes from a database of free conversation between elderly individuals, analyzed two-dimensional optical flow parameters, and calculated the standard deviation values (FX-SD, FY-SD) of all frames for each dimension. These values express the dynamic characteristics of conversation gestures. As a result of comparing the FX-SD values and the FY-SD values of “smooth conversation scene (not-need help (NNH))” with that of “not-smooth conversation scene (need help (NH))”, the “NNH scenes” values are smaller than those of the “NH scenes”. We also confirmed the identification rate using support vector machine (SVM). The average identification rate is 72.3%. These results suggest that optical flow parameters are useful for identification, but the performance is not sufficient. In the future, we should evaluate more conversation databases and provide more in-depth discussion of the effectiveness.","PeriodicalId":300885,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Technology (IICAIET)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126423286","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Present systems designed for autonomous shopping often produce unsatisfactory results due to high cost and less accuracy. A novel autonomous indoor navigation solution, capable of providing complete mobile solution for both indoor navigation and product identification for visually impaired people in a supermarket, is presented in this paper. The indoor navigation is done by analyzing the position data obtained through set of wireless location technology called beacons. Further the product identification is done using series of advanced image processing techniques. As the proposed solution is interactive, it provides more attractive and effective solution for visually impaired people. The performance of the solution is tested with few supermarkets and the results are demonstrated.","PeriodicalId":300885,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Technology (IICAIET)","volume":"199 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128397124","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the past, the RSS based handover algorithm only applied to horizontal handover because RSS signal of different wireless technologies cannot be compared directly. Nowadays, RSS signal is widely used for vertical handover decision making. RSS signal is used for predicting the traveling distance and traveling time to minimize the number of unnecessary handovers and handover failures in a high-speed environment. This paper reviews the past and present RSS based handover schemes in a high-speed environment. The framework of the next generation RSS based handover mechanism for the high-speed environment is proposed.","PeriodicalId":300885,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Technology (IICAIET)","volume":"117 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133391689","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By interviewing users we captured essential issues, such as “utilization of existing device”, “the appearance needs to be inconspicuous”, and “the device should be easy to use”. Considering those user's needs, we plan to use smart phone platform and develop speech enhancement application so that the users are just ordinary looking, and there is no need to buy any additional device. In order to realize such system, the key concept of our proposed system performs lip-reading and speech synthesis. In this study, we examined a lip-reading method that can recognize by registering the words that you want to speak and that is optimized for the user using a small amount of data. 36 viseme images were converted into very small data using VAE(Variational Auto Encoder), then the training data for word recognition model was generated. Viseme is a group of phonemes with identical appearance on the lips. Our viseme sequence representation with VAE was used to be able to adapt users with very small amount of training data set. Word recognition experiment using VAE encoder and CNN was performed with 20 Japanese words. The experimental result showed 65% recognition accuracy, and 100% including 1st and 2nd candidates. The lip-reading type speech enhancement seems appropriate for embedding mobile devices in consideration of both usability and small vocabulary recognition accuracy.","PeriodicalId":300885,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Technology (IICAIET)","volume":"186 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116286752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It estimates the coordinates of a user or object by consulting an offline Wi-Fi radio map and searching for the best match of the currently observed Wi-Fi received signal strength (RSS) measurements. The construction of an offline Wi-Fi radio map is a laborious task in a large indoor floor plan. The offline radio map needs frequent maintenance if the data get faulted or need update due to the changes in indoor surroundings. This paper studies the effect of spatial correlation in the densely collected Wi-Fi measurements to enhanced the positioning accuracy. The K-nearest neighbour (KNN) and inverse distance weight (IDW) algorithms were implemented to interpolate the incomplete Wi-Fi radio map. The interpolation error is analysed with and without the correlation in the RSS measurements over different sparsity parameters. It is shown that at some sparsity parameter, the interpolation error reduces by 54% when the correlation exists in the collected Wi-Fi measurements.","PeriodicalId":300885,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Technology (IICAIET)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130264608","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, there has been growing interest in face-based automatic attendance systems recently. However, to our knowledge, one important aspect of face automatic attendance using face has not been addressed. Thus, in this paper, a methodology to estimate the number of cameras with a given resolution required to enable capturing all students' faces in a given classroom with sufficient details to enable automatic attendance using face in a typical classroom environment is presented. The methodology was tested using two types of camera's resolution in two classrooms with different sizes. It was found that the proposed methodology can be used to estimate the number of cameras with a given resolution required to provide coverage of all students' faces with sufficient details that enables faces of students looking at the camera to be detected.","PeriodicalId":300885,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Technology (IICAIET)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114139272","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
