The speckle images were processed with bispectral techniques for recovering image Fourier phase as well as projection onto convex sets for recovering image Fourier magnitude from the projected autocorrelation. Results of imaging point stars and binaries are shown as a baseline assessment of our technique. We have reconstructed high quality images of numerous satellites and will show reconstructions of a very familiar satellite: the Hubble Space Telescope. To our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of the use of bare CCDs for speckle imaging of relatively bright objects such as artificial satellites.","PeriodicalId":300704,"journal":{"name":"Signal Recovery and Synthesis IV","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128525995","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, like other forms of emission computed tomography (ECT), PET is plagued by serious technical problems that have severely restricted its potential in unlocking the answers to difficult questions in brain research. In particular, two problems inherent to ECT methods have hampered progress in PET: 1) Patient safety considerations and detector response characteristics impose limits on the permissible radiation dose, therefore PET images are invariably severely quantum-noise-limited; and 2) The resolution of PET images is extremely poor owing primarily to the size of the scintillation detectors used in the data-acquisition step.","PeriodicalId":300704,"journal":{"name":"Signal Recovery and Synthesis IV","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115604564","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus pairs of independent image-distortion data are used to form the final image through deconvolution and averaging. We call our configuration of this setup Wavefront Sensor Speckle Holography (WSSH).5 This paper explores the addition of an artificial reference in the form of a laser guidestar to such a distortion-estimating imaging system6. This will improve distortion estimation and imaging system performance. In order to achieve image resolution consistent with the overall size of the array, the amplitude and phase at each point in the array must be determined. As has been demonstrated in the microwave region6,7, the problem of phase errors due to errors in detector positioning and variations in the reference wavefront that are associated with the heterodyne detection process used to determine the phase, can be overcome in an adaptive way prior to using the array for imaging.","PeriodicalId":300704,"journal":{"name":"Signal Recovery and Synthesis IV","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130659062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Optical metrology is preferred because it is non-destructive and has a high throughput. Optical confocal microscopes1 and correlation microscopes2 are especially useful for metrology because they have better transverse and range definition than standard microscopes. However, as the dimensions of circuits shrink to below 0.5 μm (~ one wavelength of light), it is difficult to interpret the optical images obtained by these improved microscopes. Traditional measurement techniques based on thresholding the intensity of an optical image are not accurate enough for submicrometer measurements.3 We describe here a pattern recognition technique (based on data clustering) for recognizing line features which are otherwise difficult to measure.","PeriodicalId":300704,"journal":{"name":"Signal Recovery and Synthesis IV","volume":"173 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131190732","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since, this technique has been tested in various domains of Medical Imaging [2]-[3]. The main advantage of SA is to theoritically converge to the global minimum of a cost or energy function. In reconstruction imaging, this cost function contains two terms : one term which represents the mean squared error between the measured and estimated data, and another term, which acts as regulazrization and translates a priori information. In another approach, Geman and Geman have showed that SA converges to the Maximum A Posteriori solution in a bayesian estimation [4].","PeriodicalId":300704,"journal":{"name":"Signal Recovery and Synthesis IV","volume":"91 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133712391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The exposure time for each frame must be short enough (≈ 10 msec) that the evolving atmosphere can be regarded as frozen during the exposure. Current stellar speckle interferometric approachs, including Labeyrie’s method, Knox-Thompson, and triple correlation, perform an averaging of the data in the process of individually estimating the Fourier modulus or the Fourier phase of the object. The final estimated object is constructed by combining the Fourier modulus and phase estimates and performing an inverse Fourier transform. In addition, a calibration procedure must be performed using images of an unresolved object through atmospheric turbulence having the same statistics.","PeriodicalId":300704,"journal":{"name":"Signal Recovery and Synthesis IV","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131798992","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The wavefronts used to generate the images used in the phase retrieval algorithm were very nearly flat, as confirmed by Strehl analysis of the images. Noise in the normally dark part of the image was the cause of the the phase wrapping. A modification to the phase retrieval image plane constraints allowed for recovery of the wavefront without the need to perform a phase unwrapping step. With this method reproducibility of better than 97 % was achieved.","PeriodicalId":300704,"journal":{"name":"Signal Recovery and Synthesis IV","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115292109","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
