In our method, an input image is partitioned into four blocks and the probabilistic Hough transform is applied to each block to detect the line segment candidates of business card boundary. Then, our method searches the largest quadrilateral, which is formed by using the detected line segments, under some constraints through RANSAC-like method. To evaluate the proposed method, we test our method on the collected business card images having various kinds of backgrounds. As a result of experiments, we show that our method has achieved about segmentation rate of 90%.","PeriodicalId":299846,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Image and Signal Processing and Analysis (ISPA)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122147322","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Numerous approaches have been submitted to handle this problem. Real time environment condition and limitation make it more intriguing. In this paper we focus on real time vehicle detection, feature extraction, and classification for multiple object using a single stationary camera. Even though numerous approaches have been proposed, there is still no study that is robust in every condition (object collision, lighting, vehicle appearance, vehicle type, video resolution, etc). These conditions stimulate this study more challenging. We developed a real time system to conduct classification process using three main steps: multiple vehicle detection using Gaussian Mixture Model with Hole Filling Algorithm (GMMHF); Gabor kernel for Feature Extraction; and multi-class vehicle classification. In this paper five classifiers were applied to compare the classification process. Proposed scheme shows that our system successfully detects and classifies the objects in the real time condition. The highest accuracy is 93.36% that is obtained using 18 features built by ten Gabor kernel combinations with Random Forest classifier.","PeriodicalId":299846,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Image and Signal Processing and Analysis (ISPA)","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125256777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, recent related technologies rely mostly on the textual aspect of online content, in order to extract the underlying sentiment with respect to particular brands. In this work, we demonstrate the sentiment analysis method in the context of a brand monitoring framework, breaking the text-only barrier in the field. Towards this end, a wide range of visual features is extracted, some of which focus on the underlying semiotics and aesthetics of the images. In addition, we employ textual information embedded in the images under study, by adopting text mining techniques that focus on extracting sentiment. We evaluate the classification task for the particular binary task (negative vs positive sentiment) and propose a fusion approach that combines the two different modalities. Finally, the evaluation procedure has been carried out in the context of two different use cases, namely: (a) a general image sentiment classifier for brand and advertising images and (b) a brand-specific classification procedure, according to which the brand of the input images is known a-priori. Results have proven that the visual-based sentiment classification of brand and advertising information can outperform the respective text-based classification. In addition, fusing the two modalities leads to significant performance boosting.","PeriodicalId":299846,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Image and Signal Processing and Analysis (ISPA)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131083651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Semi-automatic document reconstruction systems are usually used for virtual reconstruction. Here a content feature extraction, a content feature representation and a 1:1-matching-method for the use in such reconstruction systems are presented. The content representation is given in the form of so-called abstract structure objects (ASO), which are calculated based on foreground information distributions and on color categories. The presented 1:1-matching-method calculates local optima and places these optima in a global context in relation to cut-edge-pair. Experiments were performed on different real-world-datasets with different foreground characteristics. We show the good discrimination power of the presented method for the use in reconstruction systems regardless of the type of foreground information.","PeriodicalId":299846,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Image and Signal Processing and Analysis (ISPA)","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116338654","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method extracts a proper time series from the video, calculating the mean level of the hue component of consecutive video frames in the Hue Saturation Value color space. Change point detection is applied to the time series, estimating the number of shot transitions and their location. The posterior distribution of the change point sequence is defined, that splits the video into homogenous temporal segments. A representative frame is selected in each segment and similar or meaningless keyframes are deleted from the summary. The resulting summary is of comparable quality to that of the state of the art techniques.","PeriodicalId":299846,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Image and Signal Processing and Analysis (ISPA)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122070549","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A dedicated test campaign was performed to evaluate how viewing and metrology produced by the laser radar are affected by vibrations at low frequency (f <; 2 Hertz, and amplitude in the order of 0.5 - 2 mm). The proposed architectures are based on tabled asymmetric numeral systems (tANS). The tabled asymmetric numeral systems combines the speed advantage of table based approaches (e.g. Huffman encoding) with the higher compression rate advantage of arithmetic encoding. Both proposed architectures have been synthesized to a state-of-the-art FPGA, and the synthesis results show high encoding throughput. The architectures are capable of encoding one symbol per clock cycle. The performance of the architectures depends on the number of symbols in the alphabet and may vary from 146 up to 290 Mega symbols per second (Msps).","PeriodicalId":299846,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Image and Signal Processing and Analysis (ISPA)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132567548","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the bandwidth of the communication channel is a sensitive problem in military applications, low bit-rate speech compression methods are mostly used. Several speech processing applications such as Mixed Excitation Linear Prediction are characterized by very strict requirements in power consumption, size, and voltage supply. These requirements are difficult to fulfill, given the complexity and number of functions to be implemented, together with the real time requirement and large dynamic range of the input signals. To meet these constraints, careful optimization should be done at all levels, ranging from algorithmic level, through system and circuit architecture, to layout and design of the cell library. The key points of this optimization are among others, the choice of the algorithms, the modification of the algorithms to reduce computational complexity, the choice of a fixed-point arithmetic unit, the minimization of the number of bits required at every node of the algorithm, and a careful match between algorithms and architecture. This paper concentrates on low bit rate speech coding technology, mainly in MELP and solved the problem of optimizing the program of MELP on Digital Signal Processor platform. The algorithm was ported onto a fixed point DSP, Blackfin 537, and stage by stage optimization was performed to meet the real time requirements. The main functions involved were analysis, parameter encoding, parameter decoding and synthesis. The fixed point source code at the MELP front end was also thoroughly optimized at the C Level. Memory optimization techniques such as data placement and caching were also used to reduce the processing time. The results we obtained show that real-time implementations of a speech vocoder based on the MELP standard for low bit rate communications (2400 bps) can be successful on DSP platforms.","PeriodicalId":299846,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Image and Signal Processing and Analysis (ISPA)","volume":"60 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123392187","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been a popular and well-studied subject for the computer vision community, but is still a challenge. The method we introduce targets surveillance low-altitude mini and micro-UAVs. We take advantage of the inherent image motion on footage captured by such aerial vehicles. Our method confronts Optical Flow vectors and an estimated Flow in order to detect independently moving pixels. This motion-based approach is robust to operational conditions and to the geometric properties of the scene. The efficiency of the method was computed on the VIVID database.
