Between them, the contributions present a good mix of empirical work and significant conceptual development, moving forward theoretical debates in the fields of media and communications. Concepts are either developed, through in-depth engagement with the extant literature (Amaral 2020; Martins & Piaia 2020), or tested through empirical studies using a variety of methods – from surveys (De Andrade & Calixto 2020) to digital ethnography (Polivanov & Santos 2020) to participant observation and interviews (Gomes, Vizeu, & de Oliveira 2020). In some cases, altogether innovative methodological approaches for analysing artefacts are proposed, as in Luersen and Kilpp (2020), whose article opens this standard issue of the journal.","PeriodicalId":299414,"journal":{"name":"Networking Knowledge: Journal of the MeCCSA Postgraduate Network","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124046870","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Subverting their status as ‘poor images’, the uploaded copies of Benning’s works restage their queer, counter-hegemonic resistance via the controls of a new digital context. This paper calls for a reexamination of traditional attitudes towards the digitisation of ‘analogue’ moving image artworks and proposes that compression standards and their artifacts may be recuperated as part of a queer feministmaterialist artistic strategy.","PeriodicalId":299414,"journal":{"name":"Networking Knowledge: Journal of the MeCCSA Postgraduate Network","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129213968","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Induced and motivated by film-related elements, a group of audiences are no longer merely the recipients of film contents but also the tourists, who are going to visit the film-related sites. The journey that audiences visit the film-related sites in person can be described as film-related tourism. \u0000In this paper, the basic characteristics of film-related tourism will be introduced at the beginning for demonstrating audiences’ film journey to different types of film-related tourism sites, i.e., on-location film site and off-location film site (Beeton 2005). Then, it will specifically use an off-location film tourism site Hengdian World Studios (HWS) in China as the case to see audiences’ travel experience as film tourists at the destination. For detailed describing the touristic experience, this paper is going to apply the ethnography research method to show my personal film tour from home to the film sites in HWS, and thus examine the process of people’ identity change from film audiences to film tourists in the physical movement from home to the film location sites. Finally, authenticity issues, staged authenticity and existential authenticity, in audiences’ film tour will be discussed in order to better understand audiences’ on-site activities as well as the marketing strategies at the destination.","PeriodicalId":299414,"journal":{"name":"Networking Knowledge: Journal of the MeCCSA Postgraduate Network","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130928391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Instagram: Visual Social Media Cultures by Tama Leaver, Tim Highfield, and Crystal Abidin is the first book length exploration of the popular platform, exploring how its evolution has influenced the cultures and communities that live there. The authors argue that Instagram is “a conduit for communication” where “the visual focus is particularly important in the success and relevance of the platform” (2020, 1). In exploring how the app has been shaped by and shaped the behaviour of its users across its history, Leaver, Highfield, and Abidin demonstrate the importance of Instagram as a form of visual social media and a platform for human connection.","PeriodicalId":299414,"journal":{"name":"Networking Knowledge: Journal of the MeCCSA Postgraduate Network","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126465472","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It inhabits the symbolic field of re-constructing collective identities in relation to nationalism and its historical and biblical connections. It is about using language as a way to affix narratives until they seem as unmovable as facts or inherent beliefs. It is also about the use of language to challenge and reshape these fixed perceptions. It first presents case studies to discuss the nature of the tactics. Second, it offers a description of the context to which the case studies respond. My theoretical framework is derived from social and political sciences. It is also connected to Jewish literature and practices referencing characteristic of tactics. The last section is an analysis of the ways in which the case studies provides an alternative observation on the Israeli-Palestinian space.","PeriodicalId":299414,"journal":{"name":"Networking Knowledge: Journal of the MeCCSA Postgraduate Network","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117199345","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its purpose is to simulate citizen support for a specific issue whilst keeping its identity secret. The public sphere is envisaged as a constellation of issues around which gravitate interest groups that try to influence the debate, and doing so by carefully frame their messages. In the case of the shale gas debate in the EU, the question that emerged is to see whether astroturf groups convey the economic frames used by the oil and gas companies they represent, or if they mobilised environmental frames such as shale gas opponents. Results show that the astroturf group mostly emphasized the safety of hydraulic fracturing and tried to counter the environmental frames of competing NGOs.","PeriodicalId":299414,"journal":{"name":"Networking Knowledge: Journal of the MeCCSA Postgraduate Network","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125092761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
