The research presented here expands on this use in the context of tool wear monitoring. A disentangled-variational-autoencoder, with a temporal convolutional neural network, is used to model and trend tool wear in a self-supervised manner, and anomaly detection is used to make predictions from both the input and latent spaces. The method achieves a precision-recall area-under-curve (PR-AUC) score of 0.45 across all cutting parameters on a milling dataset, and a top score of 0.80 for shallow depth cuts. The method achieves a top PR-AUC score of 0.41 on a real-world industrial CNC dataset, but the method does not generalise as well across the broad range of manufactured parts. The benefits of the approach, along with the drawbacks, are discussed in detail.","PeriodicalId":29937,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydromechatronics","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":5.1,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"66892924","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results show that the gas-liquid mixture velocity outside the nozzle outlet increases with the increase of air inlet pressure, water inlet pressure and throat diameter, decreases with the increase of distance between water inlet and nozzle outlet. The gas-liquid mixture temperature outside the nozzle outlet increases as water inlet pressure and distance between water inlet and nozzle outlet increases, decreases as air inlet pressure and throat diameter increases. As gas-liquid pressure ratio increases, the gas-liquid mixture velocity outside the nozzle outlet tends to decrease first, then increase and then decrease, while its temperature tends to increase first, then decrease and then increase. When gas-liquid pressure ratio α = 3, this nozzle has the best performance.","PeriodicalId":29937,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydromechatronics","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":5.1,"publicationDate":"2020-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43009595","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the static and dynamic behaviour of the spur gear are modelled and analysed using SOLIDWORKS and three dimensional finite element method (ANSYS workbench), respectively. Different stress components for spur gear are evaluated with varying pressures angles, keyway types, i.e., single or double made with both square or rectangular shape and material properties. Minimum stresses are observed in the gear made of 20° pressure angle with double square keyway. It is also found that stress components in the gear decrease with an increase in pressure angle. Similarly, it can be concluded that a single rectangle keyway with 14.5° pressure angle spur gear shows more resistance to free vibration and grey cast iron is the suitable material.","PeriodicalId":29937,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydromechatronics","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":5.1,"publicationDate":"2020-09-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42473646","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Entropy generation rate distribution is obtained through numerical simulation. We show that the design with hollow paddles (HP) transfers more heat and causes larger entropy generation than that with solid paddles (SP). For HP, the solid domain produces much less entropy generation rate than the fluid domain and the material-solid interface. In the fluid domain, for SP, the pressure drop-induced irreversibility is negligible; for HP, it is important when the flow rate is large. For HP, near the flow holes, the local entropy generation rate is the largest, and near the fluid-paddle interface, it is less. In the centre regions of the fluid domain and the paddles, the local entropy generation rate is the least and approaches zero for both HP and SP. The work helps identify the dominant irreversibility and select proper designs in practice.","PeriodicalId":29937,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydromechatronics","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":5.1,"publicationDate":"2020-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49508628","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The working fluids considered for the gas and vapour cycles were air and water. In this case, two heat recovery steam generators vaporise water and reheat using a steam turbine second stage, where the full power cycle was 10,000 kW. A numerical study was performed from 100 to 7,000 kPa steam pressure. The exergy approach was performed in order to maximise the thermal efficiency. The benefits brought by two regenerators was an increase of 37% in the thermal efficiency. Also, the second regenerator reduces the lost exergy in the exhaust gases. Reductions of 81% were observed in the condenser.","PeriodicalId":29937,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydromechatronics","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":5.1,"publicationDate":"2020-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45399264","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To do so, a rectangular reference plate without stiffeners was considered. A steel volume portion of this plate was converted into stiffeners through the ϕ parameter, which represents the ratio between the stiffeners volume and the total volume of the reference plate. By adopting ϕ = 0.3, ten stiffened plates were configured: five with rectangular stiffeners and five with trapezoidal stiffeners. By keeping constant the total steel volume, the influence of geometry and number of stiffeners were studied regarding the maximum plate deflection. The results indicated that the trapezoidal shape for the stiffeners could minimise the maximum deflection until around 30% if compared with the rectangular shape stiffeners.","PeriodicalId":29937,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Hydromechatronics","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":5.1,"publicationDate":"2020-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46206092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
