In this context, the main objective of this paper is to propose and present a unified IoT device management solution based on the LightWeight Machine-to-Machine (LwM2M) protocol that deals with the heterogeneity of sensing and actuating mechanisms in IoT. We start by presenting the underlying concepts and then proceed to present the proposed unified management model. Subsequently, proof-of-concept implementations of the proposed model using physical sensors, virtual sensors, and human sensors are presented. The outcome of these implementations, which use off-the-shelf technology, shows that the proposed management approach is feasible and leads to a unified view of all types of sensing.","PeriodicalId":298927,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117290567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, for a small-scale software company, the establishment of a provincial branch may require too much cost compared to the usually limited budget. This study proposed a virtual workspace that mainly focuses on a small-scale software company that has not enough workspace and is in need to expand the operation especially to the rural area. The proposed model consists of five modules including the knowledge sharing, the job distribution, the work control, the quality evaluation, and the efficiency analysis. It intends to improve the quality of the remote employment of staff without face-to-face communication in a physical working space. As a result, it can reduce the cost of Software Company and help expanding the operation without the limitation of workspace. In addition, the proposed model can be a part of a national solution to reduce the inequality and prevent an unnecessary migration from rural area to the metropolis.","PeriodicalId":298927,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121211610","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These kinds of strategies will involve three main changes in the technological development. They include efficiency improvement in the production of energy, energy saving on the demand side and finally using of renewable energy sources as replacement of the fossil fuels. Similarly, the renewable energy implementation plans for large scale must include strategies for renewable energy sources integration. Such integration must be coherent with the system which is coherently influenced by measures of efficiency and savings of energy. As per the case study of Denmark, the paper presents a discussion of the perspective and problems of converting systems of the present energy into 100% systems of renewable energy. The paper concludes that the proposed developments are achievable. The necessary sources of renewable energy are present and any improvement on the same technology can successfully lead to the creation of renewable energy.","PeriodicalId":298927,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121213050","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

SDN separates the control and data plane in networks making them more flexible. The advent of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) has enabled on-the-fly wireless network provision wherein UAV acts as an aerial base station (BS) for user equipments (UE) on the ground. We have developed a load balancing algorithm for UAV based network using SDN, namely, LB-UAVnet. We have used Openflow with mobility functions and wireless interface definitions to implement SDN for UAV based wireless network (UAVnet). The developed algorithm, LB-UAVnet, addresses the dynamic connectivity and topology changes by adaptive link switching and packet routing for an UAV assisted wireless network. The performance of the developed algorithm (LBUAVnet) has been evaluated in terms of the QoS parameters (Throughput, packet loss, delay, and packet flow) in the UAVnet.","PeriodicalId":298927,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115850796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To solve this problem, a new method applied to the cosine similarity for reducing the size of the training data set is proposed. This method reduces the data points that close to a decision boundary and retains the important points which affect classification accuracy. For the data far from the decision boundary and not affect the classification, these points will be removed from the training data set. The proposed method is evaluated its accuracy and reduction performance on the state of the art mechanisms, categorized as prototype selection algorithms. The 20 real-world data set are used to evaluate the proposed method. The experimental results are compared with 21 existing methods. As a result, our proposed method performs the best with 89.95% accuracy but has only a fair reduction ratio, when compared to other methods.","PeriodicalId":298927,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129563361","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The present goal is a low-cost crowding detection technique combining personal trace elements obtained from heterogeneous wireless technologies (4G, 3G, GSM, Wi- Fi and Bluetooth) supported by mobile devices carried by most people. This work proposes detection nodes containing Raspberry-Pi boards equipped with several off-the-shelf Software Defined Radio (SDR) dongles. Those nodes perform spectrum analysis on the bands corresponding to the aforementioned wireless technologies, based on several open source software components. The outcome of this edge computing, performed in each node, is integrated in a cloud server using a Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN), a recent technology developed for IoT applications. Our preliminary results show that is possible to determine the number of mobile devices in the vicinity of each node, by combining information from several wireless technologies, each with its own detection range and precision.","PeriodicalId":298927,"journal":{"name":"2019 22nd International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications (WPMC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133372016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
