This paper describes a new high performance SAW filter surpassing BAW, with 3.5 GHz center frequency employing I.H.P. SAW technology which is new type SAW structure with high Q factor. Experimental studies for one-port resonators in 3.6 GHz show very high Bode-Q max of 2500 and optimum aperture lengths of IDTs. Using the results, a ladder type filter for LTE Band 42 was designed and fabricated. Very low insertion loss of 1.7 dB max has been achieved in the passband of $mathbf{3.5+/-0.1 GHz}$:. Steeper skirt characteristics and adequate attenuation have been also realized.","PeriodicalId":298643,"journal":{"name":"2018 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC)","volume":"745 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115132123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A potentially efficient OAM based communication system may employ flanged circular cylindrical waveguides for transmission, given the natural OAM states of the waveguide modes. The electromagnetic field launched by a propagating waveguide mode propagates a vortex beam with an amplitude null along its propagation axis. Receivers optimally should be placed along the direction of the radiation main lobe of the launcher. In this work, we study the relationship between the flange angle of the launcher and the angle of maximum gain in the main lobe of the radiation for four different OAM states. We demonstrate that OAM may have a significant effect on the sensitivity of the angle of maximum gain to variation in the flange angle. The presented results are confirmed using full-wave simulation.","PeriodicalId":298643,"journal":{"name":"2018 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115148340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The separated Tx/Rx beamformer chips have 4-bit (22.5°) phase control with 25°phase compensation, and 40 dB peak gain per channel with 20 dB gain control. All of the gate biases, gain and phase tuning functions are controlled by the mixed-signal integrated circuits embedded in the chips, programmable by the microcontroller. The chips are fabricated using TSMC 65-nm CMOS process. The measured $mathbf{OP}_{mathbf{l}mathbf{d}mathbf{B}}$ per channel of the Tx beamformer is 12 dBm, and NF (noise figure) of the Rx beamformer is 6–9 dB. The $mathbf{Tx}/mathbf{Rx}$ beamformers measurements performed less than 2 dB RMS gain error and 5.5° RMS phase error with 360° phase tuning, and $pm 5^{text{o}}$ phase variation with 20 dB gain tuning. To the author's knowledge, these chips are the first beamformers in 65-nm CMOS for the FCC 5G mm-Wave 37 GHz (37-38.6 GHz) and 39 GHz (38.6-40 GHz) phased-array applications. This chip set will be the unit cell to be integrated with antenna arrays to construct 32 or 64-element phased-array systems in the near future.","PeriodicalId":298643,"journal":{"name":"2018 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116696693","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The W-band LNA has 22.3 dB peak gain, 17 GHz 3-dB bandwidth (BW) and 8 mW of power consumption whereas the D-Band LNA achieves 25.3 dB peak gain, 44 GHz 3-dB BW while consuming 30 mW of power. Input and output of the LNAs are wideband matched to $pmb{50 Omega}$ in their respective frequency bands. Using the measured gains, the effective noise bandwidths are calculated to be 33.8 GHz for the W-band and 58.9 GHz for the D-band LNAs. The planar magic-Ts are used to achieve this unique feature in a simple structure. The measured 10-dB impedance bandwidth of the antenna is 210 MHz and the measured peak gain of the antenna at each port is described over the frequency range of 5.0 to 6.6 GHz. In particular, cooperative perception realized by sharing sensor data between vehicles and Road Side Units (RSUs) has potential to solve blocking problem of ego perspective sensors. However, it is still unclear that how much data rate is needed to ensure safe automated driving by extended sensor sharing. Based on the background, this paper derives required data rate on V2V to ensure safe automated driving in terms of velocity of vehicle and inter-vehicle distance in an overtaking driving environment. In the next step, the paper calculates achievable outage data rate of V2V with different frequency bands of 5, 30, and 60 GHz to derive maximum allowable velocity of vehicle to ensure safe automated driving. As a result, it is found that 30 and 60 GHz V2V allow 63 km/h and 84 km/h maximum velocities respectively while 5 GHz allows only 50 km/h for safe automated driving with inter-vehicle distance of 20 m. Therefore, millimeter-wave V2V is needed to realize safe automated driving in the future.","PeriodicalId":298643,"journal":{"name":"2018 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125171012","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The RF interface has both low loss characteristic and low thermal insulating. In general, loss characteristic and thermal insulating is relationship of trade off. Conventional cryogenic receiver uses low loss RF coaxial cable and high power cryogenic cooler. High power cryogenic cooler is large volume. Therefore, small cryogenic receiver had been difficult. The dominant cause for thermal insulating is ground metal of RF transmission line. The proposed transmission line for RF interface consists of separated ground metal and floating metal lines for rejection of RF radiation on polyimide substrate. The separated ground metal realizes thermal insulating less than 1/10 that of 3.2 mm semirigid coaxial copper cable. On the other hand, the floating metal lines on both side of signal line realize low loss characteristic. Proposed RF interface was insertion loss of less than 0.2dB at X band and thermal input of about 30 mW. This RF interface technology is impossible to expect of small high-sensitivity cryogenic receiver.","PeriodicalId":298643,"journal":{"name":"2018 Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125800736","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
