The magnetic core of the MPST is partially made of custom-tailored magnetic nanofluid. The electrical circuit lumped parameters are computed from numerical simulation results based on 2D and 3D models. Finally, the magnetization body forces occurring in the fluid core are computed and the 3D motion that they produce is evidenced to be very slow.","PeriodicalId":298237,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (OPTIM)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129732799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Assuming symmetrical conditions in a permanent-split capacitor motor, some relations of power factor, copper losses, starting current, capacitance are derived in order to predict the optimal value of k-ratio between effective turns of auxiliary to main winding. Some conclusions are formulated about the rated values of the voltage and capacitance of the capacitor.","PeriodicalId":298237,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (OPTIM)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-07-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121074604","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Method to calculate the operational parameters of a synchronous generator used in a railway diesel electrical traction","authors":"G. P. Serb, I. P. Serb","doi":"10.1109/OPTIM.2014.6850935","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/OPTIM.2014.6850935","url":null,"abstract":"The present study aims to accomplish a theoretical synthesis upon the method to calculate the operational parameters of a railway traction synchronous generator, to propose an algorithm and also to implement it into a numeric program which should be easy to use. It could be used by students, engineers, researchers or others interested in developing custom engineering system modelling. In order to assure a continuity of the authors' research regarding the modelling of the functional and designing aspects of the synchronous machine, it is desirable the choice of Matlab as a programming medium and the accomplishment of a graphic interface which should allow a permanent dialogue between user and the programming resources. This paper is a next step to put the bases of a PBL (Project Based Learning) method in the area of studying electrical machines. The necessary data for the solution to this problem are: the available power of the heat engine during a rated regime of load, the engine speed at the drive shaft of the heat engine, the maximum voltage which is necessary for supplying the asynchronous traction motors at a maximum speed, meaning at the traffic speed of a locomotive. For a systemic and transdisciplinary approach of the research, which should allow it to be the initial point for many and various research objectives, this work starts from the description of the working environment and the interactions of the traction synchronous generator as a component of the diesel electrical transmission. The originality of this work consists in a proposal of a method of calculus which could be used in modern educational languages or in research activity.","PeriodicalId":298237,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (OPTIM)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125886077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design evaluation of the new AFPM wind generator, based on 3-D finite-element field analysis, proves that the ironless stator with non-overlapping concentrated winding, sandwiched between two opposing steel-rotor disks with embedded circumferentially-magnetized PMs in flux-concentration arrangement, represents a good-performance and cost-effective double-sided structure for the AFPM machine of choice in micro-wind power generation applications.","PeriodicalId":298237,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (OPTIM)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116560564","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The governments look for new efficient and cheap cleaning technologies and the electric techniques are quite able to fulfil the requirements. A good example is provided by a North-Cameroonian tannery factory. In an exploratory set of experiments, the aqueous effluents are exposed to a gliding arc discharge burning in humid air which favors the formation of Reactive Oxygen and Nitrogen Species (RONS), such as °OH and °NO whose derivatives present strong oxidizing character. The batch treatment of the effluents for 10 min induce abatements of Total Organic Carbon, Biological Oxygen Demand and Bacterial population by 30%, 20% and 3 and 4 logarithm units of Colony Forming Units respectively.","PeriodicalId":298237,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (OPTIM)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122858413","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study is focused on the recurrence duty cycle equation and then, based on it, stability analysis is performed. It is demonstrated that average current control using leading-edge modulation is stable on the whole range of the duty cycle and thus design problems are highly simplified. The analysis is carried out in a general manner, independent of converter topology and therefore the results can be easily applied for a certain converter topology (buck, boost, buck-boost, etc.). The theoretical considerations are verified using both MATLAB and finally with the CASPOC circuit simulation package. Some simulation aspects regarding the new developed dedicated blocks are also presented.","PeriodicalId":298237,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (OPTIM)","volume":"60 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128475265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Biological investigations show a greater effectiveness when the ultraviolet light is pulsed. Therefore, converters which enable a fast turn-on and turn-off of the light emitting diodes are necessary. Several concepts to improve the possibility to supply switched loads are shown, and the equations for linear and two-level control are derived from the model equations. Dimensioning hints are given.","PeriodicalId":298237,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (OPTIM)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124620082","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A proper designed lightning rod protective system will ensure a higher protection against direct lightning strokes. Although the rolling sphere method is the most used method for designing the lightning rods systems, this method was elaborated according to the electrometrical theory principles which were established in the late '60. Starting with the late '80 and up until the present day new models for estimating the lightning orientation towards the ground emerged, thus establishing a new theory known as leader progression theory. In this paper is presented a new methodology for calculating the lightning protection zones dimensions developed on the base of the new leader progression theory principles, named the attractive radius method.","PeriodicalId":298237,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Optimization of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (OPTIM)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-05-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123217151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
