This study comprised two English teachers from rural and urban schools in Bengkulu, Indonesia, with 2 to 10 years of experience teaching English. The researchers collected the data utilizing an interview-based comparative descriptive methodology to address research questions. Following the interview, the collected data was transcribed. The findings of this study indicate that urban teachers have a higher level of TPACK than rural teachers in terms of their ability to use technology and manage classes when teaching English during the Covid-19 pandemic, particularly concerning online learning applications such as Zoom meetings, WhatsApp, Google Classroom, and the YouTube app. On the other hand, rural EFL teachers have insufficient TPACK. Due to a lack of time to design technology lesson plans, technology training, and inadequate supporting facilities and infrastructure, such as limited internet network availability and power outages, teachers lack knowledge of technological advances for online learning. Even though teachers in rural and urban areas had never utilized an online learning system during the previous school year, they had varying capacities for addressing problems that developed while utilizing this system.","PeriodicalId":298210,"journal":{"name":"Linguists : Journal Of Linguistics and Language Teaching","volume":"35 13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131480094","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the studies on teaching strategies in the pandemic era applied by the teachers in a reputable school in Indonesia are rarely discussed. Thus, this research aims to explore a reputable school's teachers' experiences in applying strategies during covid-19. There were three senior high school teachers from one of the reputable schools in Bengkulu who participated in this research. This research adapted a case study design by using a semi-structured interview as the research instrument. The interview data were recorded, transcribed, and coded into several themes based on the focus of this research. The result showed that the teachers tended to use the same materials, such as books from the government and materials from the internet. In addition, the teachers dominantly use zoom meetings for the teaching media. Meanwhile, they had their preferences on the teaching strategies. Generally, the teachers prefer to implement online discussion, computer-based learning exercises, online collaboration projects, online lectures, independent study, and online learning using social networking as the teaching strategies. The result of this study can be used as a guideline for teachers from other schools in implementing the teaching strategies, especially in online teaching.","PeriodicalId":298210,"journal":{"name":"Linguists : Journal Of Linguistics and Language Teaching","volume":"348 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116894138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As a foreign language in Indonesia, sometimes students will face some obstacles and difficulties in learning the English language; the obstacles that must be faced by the first-year students, where else there are some skills to learn at the same time which will worsen their learning process as it will be hard to be understood with low competence in the first place. The use of Edpuzzle here is expected to help to get through the initial problem related to the achievement of listening comprehension. Edpuzzle is a platform that helps teachers invite students to have fun learning using videos. These videos can be edited and adjusted to the goal of the teachers in the class activity on a particular subject; they can be cut, recorded new voice, and add some more questions if it is needed. In this study, the participants are first-year students in English Literature of the University of Pamulang (UNPAM) with 54 students in the subject of listening. The data were collected by using a questionnaire and the discussion in the e-learning forum of UNPAM in listening subjects. The results of the study revealed that the students were interested in learning the English language of the subject listening using Edpuzzle as it lifts their consciousness so that they can overwhelmingly enjoy the process of learning. They also found out that the subject listening is becoming entertaining to learn and can be a fun learning too even with the task that is difficult for them, alongside their thought that learning English using Edpuzzle can help them improve their listening comprehension in a fun way possible.","PeriodicalId":298210,"journal":{"name":"Linguists : Journal Of Linguistics and Language Teaching","volume":"38 12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125140370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
