The self-tuning minimum variance adaptive controller uses a second order autoregressive moving average (Am) model of the dynamic system response to a pharmacological agent. The parameters of model are estimated by using on line recursive least squares algorithms. The experimental results indicated that automatic drug infusion system using self-tuning adaptive controller of blood pressure is applicable to clinical situations.","PeriodicalId":297811,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Volume 13: 1991","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117125212","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

On this catheter, one sensor is located inside the atrium and the other inside the ventricle; both these sensors record composite amal and ventricular complexes. To discriminate atrial rhythm from ventricular rhythm, two adaptive filters are developed: 1) adaptive impulse correlated filter, and 2) adaptive series feedback filter. These filters cancel the unwanted rhythm from thecomposite signals using the least mean squares filtering algorithm. The filter output consists of separate atrial and ventricular rhythms which may then be used for tachyarrhythmia discrimination in implantable cardioverterdefibrillator devices.","PeriodicalId":297811,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Volume 13: 1991","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120944633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here we propose a reconstructing method for digital torn*synthesis. It utilizes a 3- dimensional convolution proceas with the inverse filter function which is derived analytically by the point spread function of the projection geometry. In this paper, by the phantom experiment and clinical eval- uation , it is also shown that the proposed algorithm is able to recon- struct the expected gray level corresponding with X-ray absorption coefficient and it can also reduce the artifacts from outside of focused slice.","PeriodicalId":297811,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Volume 13: 1991","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120973776","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The development of multi-media workstations and new public networks of telecommunication can modify the mode of relation classically in usage between physicians. Tele-diagnosis in particular, is made possible, by physicians cooperating together through the communicating workstations. We wish to report here on the functioning of an experimental station developed in the field of obstetrics, particularly to help midwives in the interpretation of fetal echography. We also intend to underline the ergonomical problems that occur with this new mode of information processing.","PeriodicalId":297811,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Volume 13: 1991","volume":"282 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127514416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The thermal power dissipated into the thermistor during the first 2 s mainly depends on the tissue heat conduction transfer afterwards on both the heat conduction and heat convection transfers. Heat conduction depends on tissue water content and heat convection depends on tissue blood flow. Experiments performed in pig hearts during hypothermic storages and artificial resuscitations validate this method.","PeriodicalId":297811,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Volume 13: 1991","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125103963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
