The symmetrical multipulse modulation strategy (SMM), wherein several equidistant pulses per half cycle (M), are used, is adopted. The resulting harmonic output voltages are analyzed and compared with those of phase control. The analysis reveals that substantial decrease in lower order harmonics and their selective elimination takes place with increase in M. The magnitude of the harmonic voltages is computed in terms of M and duty cycle. Tamisier","doi":"10.1109/ISIE.2006.295974","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ISIE.2006.295974","url":null,"abstract":"On the rigid model of a rotating machine on active magnetic bearings (AMB), the gyroscopic effects appear as two derivative cross-coupling filters between the two planes of symmetry of the shaft, with a gain depending on the inertia and linearly varying with the rotational speed. Knowing that, we can add to the controller the opposite effect, under the form of two high-pass cross-coupling filters. After the presentation of the benchmark developed by the Societe de Mecanique Magnetique (S2M, Vernon, France), a complete model of AMB machine, combining a model for a rigid suspended rotor, to a modal model of the shaft, (reduced model built from the high-order nodal model extracted from an FEM software), is exposed. Our modeling approach presents several advantages: the model is simple to obtain, accurate and of a very reasonable order, so that it is easy to simulate. We use the model obtained in order to develop a control strategy for the gyroscopic effects. The method, based on the state-space model of the system, is a generalization of a another approach, also exposed, based on a transfer function model of the AMB machine. This paper presents theoretical concept of time-varying Butterworth filters with equalized group delay response. The compensation of the phase response is carried out with the aid of the allpass filter which is cascade-connected to the structure of the classic Butterworth filter. Time-varying coefficients were introduced to the phase-compensated filter structure for the purpose of minimization of the filter transient state. We propose in this paper a simple method to evaluate the probability of error in DS-CDMA receivers using a beamformer. We used a beamformer with adaptive antenna arrays followed by a RAKE receiver. Adaptive array can reduce the interference only when the directions of arrivals (DOAs) of the interferers are misaligned with the DOAs of the user of interest. The method doesn't include any modification to the classical construction of such motors and can be easily integrated within the drive electronics. It is applicable to both motor types, i.e. those with sinusoidal or trapezoidal back EMF. The method is independent of excitation current profile. It is also virtually independent of system parameters. The back EMF waveform is extracted online using simple and integration-free algebraic expression through a newly proposed measurement setup. It is then used within the corrective phase of an extended Kalman filter (EKF). The method functionality is tested by simulation for both motor types and for different excitation current profiles. Simulation results show a good performance at very low speed. The introduced controller incorporates adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) in rotating reference frame with three input variables and one control output variable. With this methodology, the problems caused by nonlinear loads and parameter variations of UPS system are solved. Moreover, it achieves high dynamic performance and accurate voltage regulation of the load with minimum total harmonics distortion (THD) and good steady-state characteristics.
