The heuristic provides for a manual method of aligning content words in expressions or segments and the principles on which these content-word pairs are aligned. We describe important criteria of alignment: meaning-based similarity (direct or indirect), functional meaning and manual idiom chunking. The null token concept is also used for the representation of language-specific constraints. The purpose of the meaning-based alignment of content words is to represent the distribution of information content between source and target segments. This representation may contribute to the evaluation metrics of translation segments by allowing the identification of even and uneven distribution of information and, for uneven distribution, of lexicogrammatical shifts in translation or other phenomena in the information content transfer. The heuristic is illustrated with parallel English-French segments taken from the bilingual alignment of the inaugural address of the United States President John F. Kennedy delivered in 1961 and published officially in a French translation by the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.","PeriodicalId":294250,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Management of Digital EcoSystems","volume":"322 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116106937","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More recently, data lakes have been proposed in order to govern data swamps. However, no formal definition has been proposed in the literature. Existing works are not complete and miss important parts of the topic. In particular, they do not focus on the influence of the data gravity, the infrastructure role of those solutions and of course are proposing divergent definitions and positioning regarding the usage and the interaction with existing decision support system. In this paper, we propose a novel definition of data lakes, together with a comparison with other over several criteria as the way to populate them, how to use, what is the Data Lake end user profile. We claim that data lakes are complementary components in decisional information systems and we discuss their position and interactions regarding the other components by proposing an interaction model.","PeriodicalId":294250,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Management of Digital EcoSystems","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126551911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their complex grown structures can be difficult to maintain and it can be hard to foresee the impact of planned and unplanned change. The PERICLES EU FP7 project developed the Digital Ecosystem Model (DEM), an ontology to model those complex DEs for supporting their maintenance and preservation. It provides concepts to express dependencies, provenance and analysis. Planned or unplanned changes to a DE represented via the DEM can be simulated in advance to analyse and mitigate risks, and to assure the quality of the DE architecture. PERICLES developed the EcoBuilder tool to support scenario experts in modelling aspects of interests of their DEs with the DEM for further investigation and maintenance. The DEM can be extended by domain specific ontologies to support various use cases of different domains, e.g. the digital media and art domains for which specialised ontologies [10] are developed in PERICLES. This approach supports documentation of the entities and their environments not only for preservation purposes, but also for the management of environmental drift in a wider range of domains, such as the digital ecosystems of Internet of Things (IoT), which we used as example in this paper.","PeriodicalId":294250,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Management of Digital EcoSystems","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124120977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over the past years, with the increasing amount of RDF data, efficient and scalable RDF data management has become a fundamental challenge to achieve the Semantic Web vision. However, multiple approaches for RDF storage have been suggested, ranging from simple triple stores to more advanced techniques like vertical partitioning on the predicates or centralized approaches. Unfortunately, it is still a challenge to store a huge quantity of RDF quads due, in part, to the query processing for RDF data. This paper proposes a scalable solution for RDF data management that uses Apache Accumulo. We focus on introducing storage methods and indexing techniques that scale to billions of quads across multiple nodes, while providing fast and easy access to the data through conventional query mechanisms such as SPARQL. Our performance evaluation shows that in most cases our approach works well against large RDF datasets.","PeriodicalId":294250,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Management of Digital EcoSystems","volume":"2015 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127778634","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper we aim to study the integration of brainstorming platform in a System of Information Systems (SoIS). We propose a model for the brain-storming platform and an architectural model of SoIS that will help in creating the first prototype and facilitate the process of integrating the brainstorming platform in the orchestration of the SoIS. This will pose a significant technical improvement in terms of information interoperability that overcomes conceptual and technical barriers. While in the past, information was more obtained by the support of tour operators, nowadays this is mainly obtained through the Internet. Among many options, on the Internet it is possible to get information about interesting things a place has and to make reservations. This new touristic paradigm brings attractive opportunities such as saving money and discovering unexploited information proposed by tourists that already have visited targeted places. But, it comes with a major shortcoming. Information on the Internet can be overwhelming and it can lead to a lot of time spent on planning a travel. Moreover, the Internet contains outdated and incorrect information which can cause incorrect travel planning. These issues can become even more preponderant when dealing with niche domains, such as cultural heritage, where the information is not pervasive. This paper presents the Cityzen platform for planning cultural heritage focused travels. This platform aims to provide a semantic web oriented data model that acts as central repository and which can be used by tourists for accurately and efficiently planning their sightseeing. This platform deals with cases of incorrect and incomplete information by using the social web as possibility of actively engage users in the information management while they explore the provided information.","PeriodicalId":294250,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Management of Digital EcoSystems","volume":"77 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125904857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

What makes this kind of tourism interesting is both the complexity of values and significances that motivate it and the variety of social actors (walkers, inhabitants, institutions, commercial actors, etc.) that are involved. Empirical studies on this phenomenon are still limited because they are really time-consuming and resource-demanding. Yet, social media data seem to provide new perspectives on this field by generating digital traces of the tourists' behavior. This kind of sensor network is a fairly new research domain. Hence, techniques for processing complex events in the context of multimedia sensor networks remain underdeveloped as they have rarely been considered previously. In this paper, we identify the requirements of a suitable language for processing complex events in multimedia sensor networks. The requirements are illustrated here through a motivating scenario related to \"Smart Home Automation\" application. We thoroughly survey existing studies and discuss them with respect to the considered requirements. The conclusions show that no existing language can fully address all the necessary requirements. A discussion about the needed features for processing complex events in multimedia sensor networks is also given here.","PeriodicalId":294250,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 8th International Conference on Management of Digital EcoSystems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132720377","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
