In recent years we hear more and more often about the imaginary. This term, most of the times, emerges as an ambiguous notion. Yet there is no shortage of texts by important authors suggesting how considerable the subject is. The imaginary keep on avoiding classification of a rational logic: it remains often inexplicable and therefore problematic. The volume “The social ways of the imaginary. For a sociology of the profound \"is an ambitious sociological text that does not reduce the complexity of the topic; through the various contributions of the authors highlights indeed how the variety of approaches and visions should be enhanced. Imaginary is a real, natural and continuous process that does not distract from the real. The becoming of the world can be investigated through the imaginary, by connecting the planes of the micro, meso and macro, nature and culture, the self and the other, recognizing the subtle links moving every dimension.","PeriodicalId":293955,"journal":{"name":"Im@go. Our experience is filtered, consciously or not, by the imaginary that becomes the basis of our definition of reality and therefore of our daily decisions and behaviors, the criterion of meaning through which we look at the world and at ourselves. The Covid-19 pandemic has been experienced on the imaginary level. Even the younger generations who have not experienced the last great pandemic, still had a representation of the epidemics, built by the diaries of the great travelers, from literary narratives, and above all from films and TV series, within which they found themselves as catapulted. This latest epidemic, not unlike any other that has ravaged history, has lived and strengthened the symbolic link with the city. In particular, it is the empty spaces of the denied city that have played a central role in building the imagination of the current epidemic as well. As in the past, the cities emerge from this dramatic experience as the undisputed protagonists, scenarios in which every memory of the epidemic will continue to take shape, remaining, once more, inextricably linked.","PeriodicalId":293955,"journal":{"name":"Im@go. In order to investigate the nature of these events it will be useful to use the methodological filter of Richard Schechner’s Performance Studies and Jeffrey Alexander’s notion of social performance as a symbolic act of strategic nature. In this way it can be possible to see how the Capitol Hill assault and Pelosi's narrative intercepted and influenced the collective imaginary.","PeriodicalId":293955,"journal":{"name":"Im@go. The art world has long been confronted with the loss of symbolic meaning of an increasingly reified existence. If the digital universe represents an escape route from the void of meanings, the pandemic has paradoxically brought back to the forefront the importance of action in presence, of performance, to identify new creative paths. The hypothesis formulated by the writer is that the ritual function of the performative action allows the reorganization of the symbolic order related to an artistic imaginary. The article analyzes in detail the performance of Zoltan Fazekas, PROBABLY , which was held in Catania from December 2020 to June 2021. Fazekas' performance features symbolic elements and ritual actions similar to those of other performances by contemporary artists. The study allows us to hypothesize the symbolic re-enchantment function of the performance, all the more important in moments of crisis such as the one induced by the recent pandemic. Creative artistic activity is becoming increasingly important to counteract the chronic passivity syndrome linked to techno-consumerism.","PeriodicalId":293955,"journal":{"name":"Im@go. The article aims to analyse different representations of the pandemic within dreams to trace correspondences between the symbolic expressions of the oneiric language and the sociology of the imaginary. The theoretical-methodological framework of Carl G. Jung and Marie-Louise von Franz guides the articulation of the essay. The unconscious lived through the memory of dreams has the typical and strong tendency to be projected externally, hence the hypothesis that it is possible to grasp its reflections in external reality and the social world. The question to be answered concerns which shared movements are present in the unconscious of individual subjects during the current period dominated by the pandemic and which relationships can be detected between the symbolic material emerging in individual dreams and some contemporary cultural phenomena. The empirical material is drawn from a series of interdisciplinary meetings regarding patients' dreams during the pandemic.","PeriodicalId":293955,"journal":{"name":"Im@go. Emotions and care are prejudged terms in the history of western thinking. The Cartesian dualism res cogitans / res extensa (mind / body), direct successor of the ancient philosophy, is the predominant paradigm. This book is an attempt to rebuild the imaginaries of the emotional sphere and care system, giving them a new life and perspective. The philosophical theories and the empirical researches of human and social sciences will show that care is neither gender-oriented, nor only a medical issue or a private affair.  Through an inter-disciplinary and complex approach, the different authors will propose caregiving as an inclusive cognitive paradigm, capable of overcoming instrumental rationality. The relevance of the text for Italian academy is undeniable: now emotions have a real space, no longer marginal and secondary, in the Humanities.","PeriodicalId":293955,"journal":{"name":"Im@go. The wild sacred and the urban exploration of ruins.  For centuries ruins have exercised a fascination over artistic and philosophical fantasy. Human and social sciences have recently paid attention to this topic. If scholars have highlighted the cultural construction of nature, ruins offer an unusual point of view on the inherent naturalness of the category of the artificial. This paper focuses on an emergent but still understudied practice related to the fascination for ruins, “urban exploration”, the infiltration in abandoned places. Based on the analysis of the Italian case, the paper recognizes, in the public discourse of urban explorers, a representation of the auratic dimension of ruins as a concrete symbols of a wild sacred. This form of secular reenchantment is transposed in breaking narratives, that is stories about the abandonment and the unintentional “return of the nature“ in social space. Ruins urge the imaginary for they are places of a spectral presence of the past and challenge the sociological imagination.","PeriodicalId":293955,"journal":{"name":"Im@go.
