Sans l'Homme, il est difficile que la vie se déroule. Mais l’idée que la vie est basée sur les relations réciproques et complémentaires entre l’Homme et la Femme fait que leur conflit ne cesse jamais. La vision de chacun d’eux à l’autre est un facteur principal à déterminer la nature de la relation. Dans cette recherche, notre investigation est de jeter la lumière sur l’une de ces visions orientées à l’Homme par les femmes. Assia Djebar est l’une des femmes qui ont exagérément blâmé et dénoncé l’Homme. Elle a approfondi ses recherches autour de l’Homme dans la plupart de ses œuvres. Sa vision n’était qu’un résultat de plusieurs expériences et plusieurs traitements masculins. Ce qui caractérise le modèle de l’Homme présenté par Assia Djebar est qu’il incarne plusieurs configurations non seulement des hommes connus par Assia Djebar, mais c’est l’Homme connu par toutes les femmes qui ont lui raconté leurs récits et leur mélancolies.","PeriodicalId":289825,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Linguistics and Translation","volume":"464 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124493931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It presents some of the findings of my Ph. D. dissertation (2015). Three approaches are followed in analyzing data of this study; syntactic, semantic and functional. In terms of syntax, the study is limited to analyzing the in/definite subjects and in/definite predicates. In terms of semantics, it is limited to analyze the functions and purposes of the rhetorical style of in/definiteness in the qur'anic verses of Al-Baqara and Al-A'raf. The study uses Nord's functional approach to translation. The results of this study show that context and the syntactic position in a sentence are influential factors in addressing in/definites. The study also reveals that there are some differences in rendering Arabic in/definite nouns into English. Some reasons for these differences are: unlike Arabic, English can express uniqueness by using a capital letter at the beginning of a unique noun instead of using definite article, can use bare-noun phrases to denote genus, and can use ‘all’ instead of the definite article when used with plurals to denote real inclusiveness. In addition, English does not use the definite article to","PeriodicalId":289825,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Linguistics and Translation","volume":"2016 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127406491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The importance of this study lies in the fact that this shift is one of the most recurrent and rich rhetorical phenomena in the Qurʼan. Historically, this phenomenon was not labeled al-iltifāt until the time of ibn al-Mutazz (d. 296/908), but it was given various names, such as al-ṣarf’, alinṣrāf, al-udūl, al-talawūn and mukhālafat muqtaḍa al-ẓāhir. All of these names are now less common than the term al-iltifāt. However, it did not receive a detailed and comprehensive study, especially in the field of translation, as far as I know, to unveil the aesthetic values and the inimitable aspects of the Qurʼanic discourse. For this reason, this paper aims to evaluate some selected English translations of the Qurʼan, with regard to this kind of shift; to analyse this feature, stylistically and rhetorically; and, finally, to draw up a suitable and appropriate translation, which neither distorts the original message nor widens the cultural gap between the SR and the TR.","PeriodicalId":289825,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Linguistics and Translation","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122369113","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data of this study are extracted verses of the Glorious Qur'an. Syntactic, semantic and functional analyses are used in analysing data of this article. An important fact which has come out of this study is that using English indefinite article alone does not, in some cases, convey the Arabic denotation of indefiniteness, i.e., additional English words may be used in order to indicate the purpose of Arabic indefiniteness, especially when the functions of an Arabic indefinite noun are various.","PeriodicalId":289825,"journal":{"name":"Egyptian Journal of Linguistics and Translation","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115321624","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
