Unit maintenance scheduling with fuel constraints 燃料约束下的机组维修计划

Yellen","doi":"10.1109/PICA.1991.160664","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/PICA.1991.160664","url":null,"abstract":"In the unit maintenance scheduling (UMS) problem, fuel usage limitations at a unit affect the loading of the unit and hence the maintenance schedule of units. Accounting for this interaction of fuel limits at a unit with unit maintenance and system constraints greatly increases the complexity of the problem. Using duality theory, the UMS problem with fuel constraints (UMS-FCs) is decomposed into a master problem and subproblems. The definition and the coordination of master and subproblems give rise to alternate algorithms to solve the original problem. Results of one such decomposition are presented. In this approach, the master problem solves for a trial maintenance schedule to satisfy unit maintenance constraints and unit fuel limits over all time intervals of the study. Given the maintenance schedule from the master problem, a subproblem calculates the minimum operating cost subject to system constraints for each interval of the study period. If one or more subproblems are infeasible, additional constraints are generated and then added to the master problem so that an improved maintenance schedule that satisfies the fuel and system constraints is obtained. Utility engineers now wish to use integrated software packages with several functions that work efficiently and share data. The use of data structures stored in linked lists and processed through pointers is described. The pointers and linked lists compact the data storage and reduce algorithm execution times. Various algorithms can share data management and graphics functions, decreasing the cost of enhancing and maintaining the code. The approach has been applied to a software package that integrates graphics, data management, analysis, and design algorithms. The data for this problem are subject to uncertainty. Interval arithmetic is used to solve the power flow problem. Interval arithmetic takes into consideration the uncertainty of the nodal information, and is able to provide strict bounds for the solutions to the problem: all possible solutions are included within the bounds given by interval arithmetic. Results are compared with those obtainable by Monte Carlo simulations and by the use of stochastic power flows. Object-oriented programming techniques makes it possible to use interval arithmetic with minimal modifications to existing software. The ESA is based on the concept of accounts which represent hourly schedules for seven future days and actual historical values for 49 previous days. There are extensive facilities for defining calculations such as subtotals within an account and for calculated accounts based on other accounts. To construct power restoration plans, operators must take into account general restoration guidelines or local constraints, but most of the procedure relies on their experience. The aim of the MARS project is to provide the operator with an aid during these delicate phases of network monitoring. MARS is a second-generation expert system which takes into account the man-machine cooperation problematic. MARS constructs restoration plans after a local failure on a power transmission network. An implementation of the dual affine (DA) algorithm (a variant of N. Karmarkar's (1984) interior point method) is described in detail and some computational results are presented. This algorithm is particularly suitable for problems with a large number of constraints, and is applicable to linear and nonlinear optimization problems. In contrast with the simplex method, the number of iterations required by the DA algorithm to solve large-scale problems is relatively small. The DA algorithm has been implemented considering the sparsity of the constraint matrix. The normal equation that is required to be solved in every iteration is solved using a preconditioned conjugate gradient method. An application of the technique to a hydro-scheduling is presented; the largest problem is solved over nine times faster than an efficient simplex (MINOS) code. A new heuristic basis recovery procedure is implemented to provide primal and dual optimal basic solutions which are not generally available if interior point methods are used. This implementation is the first known advanced use of PCs in the computationally intensive real-time security analysis applications. Descriptions of the distributed LAN-based architecture, the interfaces to the existing SCADA system, the hardware and software configuration of the security analysis applications, as well as performance benchmarks for various applications are provided. The key advantage of this method lies in its ability to create forced-outage schedules that are statistically balanced. When tested against the pure Monte Carlo method, the semiguided Monte Carlo technique provided much faster convergence and greatly reduced the number of Monte Carlo iterations required to produce reliable production cost results. The Electricity Supply Board implemented this technique in its chronological dispatch program. This problem is formulated as a large-scale linear optimization problem with the objective of minimizing the total fuel purchase and storage cost while observing generation and fuel-related constraints. The fuel constraints include different fuel contracts and their associated limits, fuel delivery simple and cumulative limit profiles, and fuel storage limitations. Generation constraints include satisfaction of the thermal load, and area, plant, and unit generation constraints. Constraints on thermal unit peak/off peak generation output for weekday and weekend are modeled for representing peak/off-peak commitment decisions. A fuel price prorating and fuel contract/offer aggregation logic is used to control the size of the resulting linear program. The modeling and solution of the long-term fuel scheduling problem has been implemented in a production-grade computer program which will be used as one of the operations scheduling and planning tools by a large electric utility. Uncertainties in loads and generations are modeled as fuzzy numbers. System behavior under known (while uncertain) injections is dealt with by a DC fuzzy power flow model. System optimal (while uncertain) operation is calculated with linear programming procedures in which the problem nature and structure allow some efficient techniques such as Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition and dual simplex to be used. Among the results, one obtains a fuzzy cost value for system operation and possibility distributions for branch power flows and power generations.
