It causes immense emotional suffering and interferes with social wellbeing. Many physical and psychological ailments are frequently implicated in its development and progression. There are several therapeutic options available for its attenuation. However, more recently, the focus has shifted significantly to several lifestyle factors that can help in its prevention. A brief review of these influences exerted by the five major lifestyles, namely, smoking, obesity, exercise, alcohol intake, and diet is done in this manuscript.","PeriodicalId":286585,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical and All Body Health Research","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124215295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several pandemics throughout human history have caused considerable suffering and killed millions of people. The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic is one such example. Individual lifestyles, if healthy, have been shown to modulate immune function and help fight infection. The five most important lifestyles are diet, obesity, exercise, alcohol consumption, and smoking. A favorable lifestyle or a prudent change result in reducing the risk and severity of infections. These include several viral, bacterial, parasitic, and fungal infections. The medical scientific literature is loaded with large well-done studies that have focused on the individual role of these lifestyles. A direct connection has been identified and verified in most cases. This manuscript provides a narrative review of this lifestyle-infection relationship. The aim is to raise the awareness of health care providers on the significant impact healthy lifestyles can have on infectious diseases. It is hoped that disseminating this data will translate into improved healthcare.","PeriodicalId":286585,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical and All Body Health Research","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123330496","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It's linked to a long-term loss of dopaminergic (DA) neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc), resulting in a severe DA shortage in the striatum, which is necessary for motor function. There is presently no cure for Parkinson's disease, and the majority of treatments aimed at reversing dopamine depletion and alleviating symptoms. The transplantation of stem cells or stem cell derived progenitors has highlighted the potential of employing cell-based therapy to replace lost cells in the sick brain, based on promising findings from early experiments. Embryonic stem cells (ESCs) are highly expandable and pluripotent cells that can differentiate into any cell type in the human body, including nervous system tissues, suggesting that they could provide a long-term treatment for Parkinson's disease and other neurological illnesses. However, because of the potential for safety and ethical difficulties involved with the use of undifferentiated ESCs in people, other sources of transplantable cells must be considered. Another method is to use external manipulation to stimulate endogenous stem cells to heal the brain. Recent advances in stem cell research in Parkinson's disease will be discussed in this review, which will provide an overview of the various sources and strategies such as the use of different stem cell populations for cell replacement and possible modulation of endogenous stem cells, that have the potential to provide effective cell-based therapy in the future.","PeriodicalId":286585,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Medical and All Body Health Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114573032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
