However, any pulse function satisfying the first Nyquist criterion could be used for this purpose. As reported in a recent paper, some of them exhibit considerably less self-noise jitter than raised cosines if they are employed for non-data-aided recovery of the symbol timing with Gardner detectors. The results of these evaluations are a valuable data base during the test of the payload on the ground and for future anomaly investigations in orbit. This paper describes the verification activities required to evaluate the RF performances of transponder equipment itself and Ka-band on-board switching transponder subsystem for COMS. ETRI completed the design effort and has finished the development of transponder equipment according to the communications payload development milestone and the Ka-band on-board switching transponder is being assembled and under testing the initial RF performances so far. Giambene","doi":"10.1109/IWSSC.2007.4409405","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/IWSSC.2007.4409405","url":null,"abstract":"In this paper, we propose a feedback implosion suppression (FIS) algorithm that reduces the volume of feedback traffic from receivers in a multicast group over a geostationary satellite network. The system considered in this paper includes a reliable multicast transport protocol that operates on top of a channel-aware scheduler (CAS) with receivers capable of measuring and feeding back to the scheduler their channel state information (CSI). The collected CSI becomes a valuable input to avoid unfavorable channel conditions to reduce the forward link resources that would be wasted to retransmit lost segments. Using a fixed number of available uplink slots, the Radio Network Controller (RNC) decides which receivers to update their feedback messages in the next collection period based on their CSI in the current cycle.
