In this paper, an optimization algorithm based on differential evolution algorithm (DEA) is used to suppress both side lobe level (SLL) and side band level (SBL) of a uniformly excited time modulated linear array (UE-TMLA) of co-planer short dipoles by optimizing the on-time durations of the antenna elements. The DE optimized pattern as realized in MATLAB platform is validated by designing the UE-TMLA in CST-MWS with the same on-time sequence as obtained by using DE and the patterns are compared. The experiment is done by taking a UE-TMLA of 16 co-planer short dipoles and a DE optimized pattern with SLL of -20.4 dB is obtained by suppressing maximum SBL to -30 dB.","PeriodicalId":286435,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Microwave and Photonics (ICMAP)","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115591160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The realized gain of the proposed antennas are found to be in the range of 3.98-7.44 dBi and 3.98-8.52 dBi for rectangular and semi-circular gate like structures, respectively. The proposed L-shaped structure is constructed using two different slots oriented along longitudinal and transversal direction to feed. The longitudinal slot produces single band measured response with frequency range of 13.16 GHz to 13.38 GHz with 13.28 GHz as the center frequency. Along with, the transversal slot produces single band measured response with frequency range of 10.18 GHz to 10.34 GHz with 10.25 GHz as the central frequency. These two different slots are combined into a single L-shaped slot, which produces dual band measured response with frequency range of 10.84 GHz to 11.01 GHz and 12.60 GHz to 12.78 GHz. The center frequencies are 10.93 GHz and 12.69 GHz. The gain of the designed antenna is 6.58 dB and 6.82 dB at 10.93 GHz and 12.69 GHz, respectively. The analysis is carried out using the HFSS software, and the simulated results are verified using the measurements.","PeriodicalId":286435,"journal":{"name":"2013 International Conference on Microwave and Photonics (ICMAP)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122488777","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
