The method is based on using an additional feedback loop with properly chosen delay and phase shift. The application of the method increases the self-modulation threshold beam current. This results in significant increase of the output power and efficiency in comparison with the oscillator with a single feedback.","PeriodicalId":283300,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 14th International Vacuum Electronics Conference (IVEC)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127212964","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our results show that electron emission is governed by the over-barrier emission process, where the emitting current line density J [nA/nm] is only dependent on the amplitude V<sub>1</sub> and frequency ω of the oscillating barrier, which is characterized by 0<; γ= V<sub>1</sub>/ hω<;1. It is found that J is maximized around the optical frequency at ω= 10<sup>14</sup> to 10<sup>15</sup> rad/s, and J is higher for larger γ.","PeriodicalId":283300,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 14th International Vacuum Electronics Conference (IVEC)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125819061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A computer code has been developed for vector analysis of electromagnetic fields in the mirror systems. Based on the Katsenelenbaum-Semenov method, the computer code has been written for the synthesis of adapted phase correcting mirrors. As an example, a quasi-optical mode converter including a Vlasov launcher and two phase correcting mirrors has been designed for a 94-GHz TE6,2 mode gyrotron. The simulation results show that the conversion efficiency is 87.19% (including power transmission losses).","PeriodicalId":283300,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE 14th International Vacuum Electronics Conference (IVEC)","volume":"122 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-05-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129541058","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
