Motigraph and semi-structured interviews were conducted \u0000with two third-country-born North Korean defectors, and the transcribed interviews were \u0000analyzed based on Grounded theory. Overall, motivation to learn English significantly \u0000increased after settlement in South Korea. Prior to settlement, factors such as accessible or \u0000easy English classes and the aspiration to enter middle school positively impacted motivation, \u0000whereas memorization-oriented teaching methods decreased English learning motivation. \u0000Post-settlement, specific learning goals such as employment or university entrance, teacher \u0000encouragement, and comparison with South Korean students, emerged as motivating factors. \u0000However, challenges such as learning English grammar and difficulties with English language \u0000acquisition in a Korean-speaking environment made learning English difficult. Finally, we \u0000discussed strategies to assist third-country-born North Korean defectors in adapting to English \u0000education after settling in South Korea, focusing on practical and educational support.

Considering that \u0000Yungbokhap education is proposed as a reform movement for student \u0000empowerment, this research investigates the change in the preservice teachers’ \u0000perception of Yungbokhap education in the context of an international \u0000teaching practicum. For the purpose, we collected the preservice teachers’ \u0000reflection journals and transcripts of practicum conferences for analysis. The \u0000results of the analysis revealed the practicum positively contributed to \u0000enhancing the preservice teachers’ competences for Yunbokhap education. Based \u0000on the results, we discuss implications for international teaching practicum.

We also investigated how growth factors of grit and \u0000academic engagement would predict academic achievement directly and \u0000indirectly. Multivariate latent growth modeling was used to analyze data. \u0000Results demonstrates that growth rates of grit and academic engagement \u0000were not statistically significant, meaning that they were stable from first to \u0000third years. However, the growth rates of academic achievement was \u0000statistically significant. Happiness predicted 1st year’s grit, which in turn, \u0000positively affected academic engagement. Despite this, the demand for financial education \u0000has so far received very little attention. A survey of Korean adults(n=1,422) \u0000is used to investigate what affects the intention to enhance financial literacy. \u0000To this end, the study relies on the basic conceptual framework of the theory \u0000of planned behavior. The results show that attitudes, beliefs, and perceived \u0000behavioral control are significant determinants of intentions, supporting that \u0000the theory can serve as an effective model. The level of financial knowledge \u0000and overconfidence are directly related to the demand for financial education. \u0000Those who actively invest in stocks or funds, those with loan debt, and those \u0000without income are more likely to intend to become financially literate.

To accomplish this, databases such as RISS and KCI were searched, resulting in the extraction of a total of 143 studies. These studies were scrutinized to analyze the research trends, with a focus on participants, research methods, and topics. It was found that the majority of the studies focused on elementary and middle school students, and quantitative research methods were predominantly utilized. In terms of research topics, six central themes emerged. This paper delves into more detailed findings and discusses implications for future English education.

To achieve this, a structural equation model was established to examine the relationship between the three variables, and data from 2,793 general high school students within the 9th year of SELS2010 were analyzed. The results showed the fit of the structural equation model was very good (CFI=.983, TLI=.976, RMSEA=.059, SRMR=.033). Moreover, self-directed learning attitude had a statistically significant positive effect on resilience and class satisfaction, and resilience also had a statistically significant positive effect on class satisfaction. Additionally, the mediating effect of resilience was found to be statistically significant. These findings suggest that educational efforts to enhance not only self-directed learning attitude but also resilience is needed to improve high school students' class satisfaction.

To this end, Philippine Normal University (PNU), a leading participant in GCED in the Philippines, was selected and analyzed in terms of the program’s purpose and background, curriculum and research, and management system. Analysis shows that the PNU has been actively engaged in GCED based on its historical background in women and human rights studies. The PNU's GCED program mainly adopted the concept of GCED presented by UNESCO while emphasizing the behavioral dimension. This case demonstrates that the areas of GCED to which teacher education colleges can contribute are diverse, encompassing pre-service and in-service teacher education and research. Teacher education colleges can play a leading role in expanding GCED in a country through their active engagement in the agenda demonstrated by institutional leadership and collaboration with international organizations.

To investigate the linguistic properties; lexical frequency(high frequency vocabulary, keywords, and 4gram) and readability(measured by FKGL and FRE), this corpus-based analysis was conducted with Wordsmith, AntConc and Readable. The findings demonstrate frequent appearance of science and technology terms, and their frequent description. This confirms that North Korea attempts to connect education with industrial sites by combining English and technical education. In addition, as a result of analyzing vocabulary diversity and readability, it was found that the level of difficulty increased rapidly compared to high school English textbooks. The vocabulary appeared less varied than English reading passages of Korean SAT and readability showed a similar level.
