First, results of experiments and FEM analyses were used to evaluate elastic deformation of snow compression pressure vessel under water proof test condition to confirm the FEM integrity as a digital manufacture design tool. Results confirmed that the elastic deformation FEM analysis is sufficient to predict high-pressure vessel deformation during service. The strain rate ἐ was 4.00 × 10 -3 s-1 – 1.70 × 10-2 s-1. Compression tests were conducted to evaluate back pressure distributions for obtaining important data to support safe usage of the pressure vessel. Results show that the back pressure occurs only around the bottom of the pressure vessel during compression. The maximum back pressure was pb = 3.6 MPa at axial formation pressure pz = 3.0 MPa. Furthermore, the maximum pressure reached almost 120% of the axial formation pressure.","PeriodicalId":282024,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Japanese Society for Experimental Mechanics","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132086039","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Urata, Yoshinao Kobayashi","doi":"10.11395/JJSEM.16.342","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.11395/JJSEM.16.342","url":null,"abstract":"The solubilities of copper and sulfur in solid iron have been investigated at temperatures of 1073, 1173, 1273 and 1573 K. The samples were prepared from electrolytic steel plate, Cu2S powder, FeS powder and iron powder, and then subjected to analyses by an electron micro probe analyser (EPMA). The equilibrium concentrations of copper and sulfur in solid iron are much higher than the apparent solubilities of copper sulfide reported for Fe-3mass%Si steel. The possible reason is that the copper sulfide precipitates form in the concentrated region of copper and sulfur induced by micro segregation during solidification. In addition, the existence of copper sulfide has been verified in samples having the composition of Fe-0.1mass%Cu-0.01mass%S-0.1mass%C, without and with annealing for the homogenization after melting and solidification process. The annealed sample did not cause any copper sulfide precipitation in SEM images, while as-cast sample yielded the one. On the basis of Scheil's equation, super-saturated region has been calculated to be 0.1vol%, which ratio is a little larger than the actual copper sulfide precipitates shown in the SEM images. Thus, micro-segregation will contribute to copper sulfide precipitation in solid iron even when the copper and sulfur concentrations are low.","PeriodicalId":282024,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Japanese Society for Experimental Mechanics","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114168041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, the Japanese sword has also an affective characteristics as the traditional crafts, which recognized by the warlords. While the affective shape and historical consideration of Japanese sword is one of the most important variables for evaluating the new generation sword by the modern swordsmith, the Japanese sword have been generally archived by the two-dimensional scanning method. This study aims to try the affective shapely evaluation by three-dimensional archiving of Japanese sword. For the fundamental examination, we designed and manufactured the three-dimensional archiving device by using the stereo digital image correlation method. This paper presents the overview of the manufactured device and the basic measurement results. The goal of this study is to clarify the affective design from the viewpoints of both the shape and the sensual beauty.","PeriodicalId":282024,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Japanese Society for Experimental Mechanics","volume":"73 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130045567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The commercial measuring devices are generally expensive, and cheaper devices would be helpful to the academic researches. From this point of view, the author developed the simple drop-sizing system which was based on the laser diffraction method and utilized an image-sensor to obtain angular distribution of the scattered light-intensity from particles. The system had been opened for academic researchers. During the trial, it was pointed out that setup of the system was not so easy because of the difficulty in putting an awning upon the delicate image-sensor. The system is improved by adding a lens pair to the basic optical-setup to generate intermediate focal-plane and placing the awning on the plane. Optimized diameter of the awning was smaller than that for previous system. As the results, the faults of previous system were canceled and also the range of diameter measurement was extended. The improved drop-sizing system is outlined and the results of several test measurements are presented. Based on the results, utility of the system was discussed.","PeriodicalId":282024,"journal":{"name":"Journal of the Japanese Society for Experimental Mechanics","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124742804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
