In the projected amplified Brain storm optimization algorithm Hamiltonian cycle has been applied to improve the search abilities and also to avoid of trap in local optimal solution. A node is arbitrarily chosen from the graph as the preliminary point to form a Hamiltonian cycle. At generation t and t+1, L t and L t +1 are the length of Hamiltonian cycle correspondingly. In the QBS algorithm a Quantum state of an idea is illustrated by a wave function as an alternative of the position modernized only in Brain storm optimization algorithm. Monte Carlo simulation method is used, to measure the position for each idea from the quantum state to the traditional one. Proposed Amplified Brain Storm Optimization (ABS) algorithm and Quantum based Brain Storm (QBS) Optimization Algorithm has been tested in standard IEEE 57 bus test system and simulation results show the projected algorithms reduced the real power loss effectively.","PeriodicalId":280098,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Power Engineering","volume":"85 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114565422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Optimal bidding strategy is one of the important functions in the electricity market along with forecasting of the electricity price and the profit based unit commitment. The prime objective of generating company (Genco) is to maximize their profit when they participate in the bidding process. The BFO algorithm has been used to maximize the probability density function (pdf). In the second stage the BFO algorithm is again applied to maximize the profit of the suppliers. The Proposed algorithm is developed in MATLAB (Version, 2019) and tested on standard test case available in the literature. Also, the simulation results are presented and compared. It is noticed that the proposed method yields the best results in terms of profit.","PeriodicalId":280098,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Power Engineering","volume":"144 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123278696","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are namely survey of 300 households of national grid energy users and 400 households of biogas users. It was conducted in three different rural settings of Nepal. The responses to questions were classified into multiple choice options. This generated categorical data and reduced ambiguity and confusion between interviewer and interviewee. Such data were classified into ordinal scale and modelled. As the dependent variable had more than two categories, polytomous and not dichotomous models are developed and fitted. Ten different hypotheses assessing and measuring the energy consumption dynamics are tested. Values of parameters of these model and odds ratio are used in quantifying the impact of change with respect to energy consumption. The variables considered were namely time spent in the collection of firewood, type of house, amount of firewood saved, time saved, employer and school located within 15 min distance. Such data based studies are very crucial for country like Nepal which lacks a strong backbone of accurate and regularly updated official records. They can be generalized to other counties of Asia and Africa. Such results provide guidelines to policy makers and planners regarding formulation of realistic energy policies for such countries.","PeriodicalId":280098,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Power Engineering","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130136772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The approach of the proposed synchronization technique is developed to extract the maximum of PV energy and inject it in the network for the various conditions of tension, and to ensure that the currents injected into the three-phase network emulate the wished sinusoidal forms even when the mains grid voltage is no longer ideal. This paper introduces a new technique of synchronization and elimination of the disturbances created by the distorted tension based on the direct power control without voltage sensors (VF_DPC) with the help of second-order generalized integrator (SOGI) associated with a Self-tuning filter (STF) to extract the fundamental virtual flux. This performance is easily expressed by compensating for the sags and the swells voltages, and regulating the voltage across the load by injecting a voltage component in series with the source voltage increased or decreased with respect to the source voltage the load-side waveforms are purely sinusoidal. The integration of serial and chopper converters makes the DVR capable of bidirectional power flow. The key to this topology is its ability to compensate for sagging and swelling of the voltage in the long run. The modeling of the DVR and the design of its controller is included in this document. Effectiveness of control systems and start-up sequence of DVR operation is verified by detailed simulation studies. The control method used in this work is based on the use of a booster chopper and two cascade loops to generate the PWM command to control the chopper. The effectiveness of the suggested method is confirmed by the MATLAB/SIMULINK® simulation results and some prototype experiments. These results show the capacity of the proposed DC link control.","PeriodicalId":280098,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Power Engineering","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114667445","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Interval valued controller compared with type-1 fuzzy controller has the advantage that it can take into account the linguistic uncertainties present in the rules of the estimated models. The proposed control framework consists of a mixture of two controllers: an interval valued fuzzy controller and a supervisory controller. The supervisory controller is used when the system starts to become unstable. The free parameters for the proposed controller are changed according to some learning rules based on Lyapunov stability. Simulation results on an induction motor show the effectiveness of the introduced method.","PeriodicalId":280098,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Power Engineering","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115453397","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The load includes residential load and water pumping load. The community comprises about 30 households with some service buildings in addition to the water pumping system. The average load energy demand is 300kWh/day and the average power demand is 12.5kW, in the same context, the average energy demand for water pumping is 49kWh/day. The region has abundant solar radiation potential with a daily average of 5.4 kWh/m 2 . The optimum design was achieved using the HOMER Pro software. It took into consideration real incident solar radiation data, electrical demand profile for the community and water pumping system and market cost of all equipment. The optimization results showed that the best hybrid system among all feasible configurations is a PV system with an energy storage system combined with a diesel generator. The net present cost of the system is USD636,150 and the cost of energy (COE) produced is USD0.438/kWh. Sensitivity analysis is considered to study the impact of variations in PV cost, diesel fuel price, and maximum annual capacity shortages (MACS), the results showed that MACS has no effects. Energy management procedure is followed to reduce the excess electricity from 10.6% to 6.24% which in turn reduces the COE from 0.438 to USD 0.416/kWh.","PeriodicalId":280098,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Applied Power Engineering","volume":"149 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125227588","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
