Based on SIR Model, the rate of infectivity and recovery in each country are calculated, which are used to be a clustering basis. Thus, 20 selected countries are divided into 3 clusters. The article also studies how the dynamics would change when adding noise to parameters and give some policies and solutions based on two situations. Sensitivity analysis indicates that the infection rate plays a more significant role in outcomes.","PeriodicalId":278216,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130580314","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system was developed on an electronic platform based on open code hardware and software (Arduino Nano), which includes additional electronic circuits such as real time clock (RTC) to record date and time and a flash memory (microSD) for storage of records. In order to facilitate both installation and operation of the system, it was designed in a modular way. Each autonomous monitoring system (Arduino Nano + RTC + microSD) includes a sensor signal conditioning electronic interface with the capacity to operate up to ten breeding cages. In the design of the monitoring system an energy backup is considered through an uninterruptible power supply (UPS). The resulting data sets are grouped into periods of 5 or 10 minutes and stored in a microSD memory, for further analysis and presentation. The records are presented in the form of a locomotor activity profile and also in the form of single and double plotted actogram. The contribution of this system is in an increase in the capacity to acquire experimental data, without interfering with other experiments in the same workspace due to its modularity and a reduction in electrical energy costs.","PeriodicalId":278216,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133518092","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Deep Learning techniques at early stages of drug discovery can help to select candidate drugs with biological properties of interest, reduce the enormous research space of drug-like compounds and minimize these issues. This study aims to perform generation of targeted molecules by training the recurrent neural network to learn the building rules of production of valid molecules in the form of SMILES strings and optimize it to produce molecules with bespoke properties through Reinforcement Learning. The fitness of the newly generated molecules is obtained by a second neural network model. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the method, we trained the proposed model to design molecules with high inhibitory power for the k-opioid receptor (KOR). The optimized model was able to generate molecules with a stronger affinity for KOR, maintaining the percentage of valid molecules and, with satisfactory internal and external diversities based on Tanimoto similarity over 95%.","PeriodicalId":278216,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117092214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper introduces two therapies and their scientific principles and applications. The Stimulating Peripheral Activity to Relieve Conditions (SPARC) program is a National Institutes of Health (NIH) Common Fund committed to exploring the interrelation between nerves and organs and treating diseases caused by neurological dysregulation through developing new neurostimulation devices and treatment protocols. Traditional Chinese acupuncture refers to a disease treatment method that silver needles are applied to stimulate specified sites on the body surface of patients via different manipulations, so as to regulate the neuro-endocrine-immune (NEI) system. Therefore, the SPARC program resembles acupuncture in terms of the therapeutic mechanism and stimulation site, but they are slightly different regarding the theoretical and ideological foundation, therapeutic range and manipulation method. The treatment thoughts of dominant diseases should be mutually referenced by the development of traditional Chinese and Western medicine, so as to provide new enlightenments for their own development. In this paper, the two therapies were compared in this paper, and the way to promote their advancement was explored.","PeriodicalId":278216,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117159521","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to take a further look at the vulnerability of minorities facing the pandemic, the aim of this study was to review the racial disparities among different ethnic groups in the United States. Statistical data collected from the Epic Health Record System was analyzed along with data analysis from Kaiser Family Foundation to look at the influence of the pandemic on ethnic groups. In contrast to White respondents, Non-White ethnic groups have dramatically higher hospitalization and mortality rate. The high infection rate could possibly be a marker of underlying issues like income and healthcare disparities. Structural and systematical racism could play a huge role in public health issues and action from the federal government will be necessary to resolve the health crisis.","PeriodicalId":278216,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics","volume":"106 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124091667","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A fall detection system which is low-cost is certainly favored, but that pose another question on whether the system is accurate enough by using low-cost components. This paper will discuss the analysis on the feasibility of a threshold-based fall detection system that was realized with ADXL 345 sensor, which is considered as a low-cost accelerometer sensor. A simulated fall study and simulated Activities of Daily Living (ADL) study was conducted so that the accuracy of the realized system can be known. The result of this experimental study shows that the realized system has a satisfactory accuracy comparable to other systems which use more advanced sensor(s), but further study which involves elderly as subjects is needed to give a more accurate insight about the accuracy of the system.","PeriodicalId":278216,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127824703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Certain situations are easily overlooked. In most cases, major bleeding caused by trauma is not considered a disease, and thousands are suffering from it. The treatment towards bleeding is still very old fashion because there is no certain improvement since the beginning of the 20th century. Platelet is one of the key factors of wound healing. The formation of a plug plays a crucial role in preventing heavy bleeding. There are many studies describing the function of the platelet, such as its function on dentistry or recovery after chemotherapy. However, the main original function of the platelet is also distinguishable. This article will introduce the nanotech based GS5-MOF and its function of an artificial wound healing enhancer and a healing speed up enzyme.","PeriodicalId":278216,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126125388","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Over representation analysis (ORA), Functional class scoring (FCS), and Topology based (TB) analysis are considered as three generations of pathway analysis techniques. These methods only detect the differential activity of an entire pathway, thereby ignoring the importance of routes and sections within the pathway. A novel route-based pathway analysis framework, Route based Pathway Analysis in Cohorts (rPAC), is discussed in this paper which uses pathway topology in true sense by identifying and scoring individual routes within pathways. Activity scores and p-values are calculated for all signaling and effector routes from KEGG signaling pathways with transcriptomics data from each sample in the given cohort. Overall route activity in a cohort is assessed in terms of two summary metrics, “Proportion of Significance” (PS) and “Average Route Score” (ARS). A systematic evaluation based on large number of simulated data showed rPAC significantly outperforming the traditional pathway analysis methods. Case studies of three epithelial cancers from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) repository revealed that some pathway routes (e.g., tight junction, Th17 cell differentiation, adipocytokine signaling etc.) can notably differentiate cancer types, while other pathway routes that are related to lipid metabolism and adipocytes metabolism are co-regulated in different cancers. While most of the findings are corroborated by the current understanding of cancer biology, many previously uncharacterized mechanisms were identified by rPAC analysis, exhibiting the potential to yield new insights into cancer phenotypes.","PeriodicalId":278216,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122275551","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Study on Dairy Nutrition and Association with Chronic","authors":"Ziwei Liang","doi":"10.1145/3449258.3449269","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1145/3449258.3449269","url":null,"abstract":"At present, many research results support that dairy products are beneficial to human health. However, the actual consumption of dairy products in China is far lower than that recommended in the dietary guidelines for Chinese residents. There are many kinds of dairy products on the market, which can be divided into seven categories. The most important nutritional components of dairy products are protein, fat, lactose, vitamins and minerals. This paper reviews the association between dairy consumption and various chronic diseases. The results show that: Increased dairy products intake has a positive or neutral effect on Cardiovascular diseases; Dairy products, especially yogurt, can reduce the risk of T2DM; Dairy consumption is related to the reduction of obesity rate, which is more obvious in women; The association between dairy consumption and cancer is more complex, yogurt and low fat dairy products may have positive effect, while high fat dairy products may have negative effect or no correlation. In addition, dairy products are also related to intestinal health, osteoporosis, sarcopenia and chronic kidney disease. Due to the importance of dairy products for various chronic diseases, this article encourages Chinese residents to increase dairy consumption and strengthen dietary balance. At the same time, we call for further research on the mechanism of dairy products on chronic diseases.","PeriodicalId":278216,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2020 4th International Conference on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics","volume":"126 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128459449","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
