The method is based on an eigenfunction expansion, where the eigenfunctions are determined numerically by the finite difference method (FD). An efficient model order reduction is achieved by appropriate inductances that are extracted with the same FD operator. The order number of the truncated modal circuit is simply estimated, according to the required signal bandwidth. The accuracy and versatility of the suggested SPICE-compatible equivalent-circuit is demonstrated by an example in the time-domain, including non-linear terminations.","PeriodicalId":277112,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123085247","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their mutual coupling may be strong and needs to be modeled in terms of embedded element patterns. The HARP method is based on Macro Basis Functions and computes their interactions versus relative positions, based on a limited number of explicit calculations in the near field. This paper shows results of this method in the low and medium range of the foreseen frequency spectrum, considering the SKALA (SKA Log-Periodic Antennas) designed for this new telescope.","PeriodicalId":277112,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA)","volume":"47 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123497832","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

About 3 years of radar maps have been analyzed in comparisons with about 30 years of measurements made by rain gauges located in the same area. The entire monitored area was divided into 4 subareas considering the complex orography near Turin, namely the flatlands, mountains, hills and urban areas. For each subarea, the Generalized Extreme Values (GEV) distributions are estimated considering rain gauges data and X-band radar maps. Radar maps are properly processed to be comparable with rain gauges measurements considering reference areas of different size centered over each available gauge. It is shown that a limited temporal availability of X-band radar maps can be sufficient to obtain a good GEV distribution estimation, and that X-band weather radars are a good instrument to analyze extreme rain events where a dense rain gauge network is not available.","PeriodicalId":277112,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128919102","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Similarly to the IA, the absorbed power is maximal for all substances supported by the same physical structure. When defining the PA in this way, care should be taken to avoid the superdirective zone. This is done by using the constraint Q = 1 for the quality factor around the absorber. Possible applications for numerical simulations are outlined.","PeriodicalId":277112,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127606450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike traditional methods that are based on biopsy and lab tests, the proposed system is capable of providing a non-invasive ad-hoc detection of diseased cells. The system uses high frequency electromagnetic radiations at millimetre-wave spectrum. The system consists of a sensor/ probe and a vector network analyser (VNA). The probe was designed as a monolithically on-wafer dielectric-filled rectangular waveguide. Due to its small size, very small (mm2) and shallow (sub-mm) skin conditions can be detected. The preliminary simulation revealed promising results, where significant differences between basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and healthy skin models, were detected in terms of the magnitude and phase of the voltage reflection coefficient (S11). The simulations also demonstrated the system capability to detect BCC that were either at the surface or embedded within healthy skin.","PeriodicalId":277112,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117124750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The design and optimization of modern superconducting RF cavities requires intensive numerical simulations. Vast number of operational parameters must be calculated to ensure appropriate functioning of the accelerating structures. In this study, we primarily focus on estimation and behavior of higher order modes in superconducting RF cavities connected in chains. To calculate large RF models the state-space concatenation scheme, an efficient hybrid method, is employed.","PeriodicalId":277112,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116416436","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This mode extractor, which is a key component in antenna pointing systems, has the advantage to be very compact and wide-band. This higher-order mode extractor is to be placed in between a feed horn and a user-link feed chain without affecting the design or performance of the user-link part. An improved design of the mode extractor, obtained thanks to a global optimization of the component, is presented in this paper. It fits in a cylinder of 25 mm in diameter and 24 mm in length. This improved design is well matched to the fundamental mode over the full transmit and receive frequency bands for broadband applications (17.7 - 20.2 GHz & 27.5 - 30.0 GHz), with a return loss better than 21 dB. The coupling coefficient for the tracking mode (TM01) is better than -0.4 dB over the full receive band (27.5 - 30.0 GHz), thus enabling a generic mode extractor design. Another important parameter for tracking purposes is the coupling between the fundamental mode and the tracking port, which affects the quality of the on-axis tracking null. Values below -68 dB were obtained in simulation for the proposed design.","PeriodicalId":277112,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-10-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125453693","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
