The Department of Agriculture of Maharashtra state aim’s to establish 232 Agriclinic center’s in forth coming years. The Government of Maharashtra expend Rs. 15 lakhs on each Agriclinic centers. The present study was conducted in Ahmednagar district was purposively selected for the present study, because there are 7 agriclinic i.e. more in number as compared to other districts. Majority of the respondent beneficiaries opinioned that training programme of agriclinic helps in providing self employment opportunities to the rural youth (73.34%). It is observed that there was age is negatively but statistically significant correlated with impact of agriclinic activities. Education, size of land holding, annual income, social participation, sources of information, cosmopoliteness, risk orientation and extent of participation of beneficiaries had positive and statistically significant correlation with impact of agriclinic activities. Only size of family is non-significant with impact of agriclinic activities.","PeriodicalId":276302,"journal":{"name":"Agriculture Update","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130143571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Extensive resources are being utilised for providing training to the individuals in various fields to improve their on-job performance and to make them selfreliant. So, it is essential to monitor and evaluate the success rate of training programme time to time. Monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment are management tools to help track progress and demonstrate the impact of training on its trainees. The main objective of this study was to understand the concept of evaluation and impact assessment. This paper is descriptive in nature. It is concluded that most of training programmes fail to reach their set goals due to lack of proper evaluation, monitoring and impact assessment. But results obtained through evaluation and impact assessment can be used to redesign the programme or training on the basis of the limitations of the programme revealed through these techniques to reach the ultimate goal of the programme.","PeriodicalId":276302,"journal":{"name":"Agriculture Update","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126294526","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Primary data of 90 farmers pertaining to the year 2018-2019 were collected from three villages and functionaries involved in onion seed procurement chain producer, seed company, retailer were selected for collecting information. The onion seed production is taken on small scale but it contributes sizable share in total earning of the cultivator. However, yield and profit from onion seed cultivation is uncertain because it is very sensitive, it require special attention. To study the economics of onion seed production, the standard cost concepts were used. In estimation of cost of cultivation, seed, rental value of land, human labour and interest on fixed capital were the major cost items.The gross cropped area was highest in large group i.e. 8.28 hectare followed by medium 5.27 ha and small group 2.93. The cropping pattern of onion seed was dominated by soybean, cotton and tur in Kharif season whereas gram and wheat was Rabi season. In Rabi season the contribution of area under onion seed was 12.62, 12.52 and 12.31 per cent by small, medium and large farmers. Per hectare total cost of cultivation of onion seed was highest in the medium group i.e. Rs. 167967.3 per hectare followed by large group Rs. 166102.74 and small group Rs.165161.53.The benefit cost ratio of onion seed at cost ‘C3’ was 1.70 in small group, 1.76 in medium group and 1.78 in large group.","PeriodicalId":276302,"journal":{"name":"Agriculture Update","volume":"100 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121464842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

IPM is a concept that integrates all cultural, mechanical, biological and chemical practices of crop production which control prevent and eradicate pest population in field and makes the pest management practice a stronger approach rather than sole application of chemical pesticides. The study revealed that majority of the respondents aged between 41-53 years (56.43%), studied upto High School (46.07%) and had membership of at least one organization (70.72%). Most of the farmers had family size of 5-7 members (62.50%), agricultural experience between 16-23 years (62.85%) and in between 4-9.6 years involved in pesticide application (60.71%). The knowledge regarding various IPM practices plays a vital role in its application. The study found that more than half (52.85%) of the paddy growers had moderate level of knowledge on IPM practices next to which 27.85 per cent of the farmers had low level of knowledge and 19.28 per cent of them had high level of knowledge regarding IPM practices. The farmers had great extent of knowledge on the practices like proper summer ploughing, trimming of bunds and destruction of crop residues before transplanting of rice to minimize the insect pest and disease intensity as reported by all the respondents and use bird perches for predatory birds against insect pests of rice was reported by 90.00 per cent of the respondents. However, majority (69.28%) of the respondents did not know about application of Trichogramma as a biocontrol agent against rice stem borer, rice leaf folder and more than three forth of the respondents (76.78%) did not know about pattern of release of Trichogramma in the field. It shows that farmers had very low knowledge in application of biological pest control techniques in the field coparing to cultural practices.","PeriodicalId":276302,"journal":{"name":"Agriculture Update","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-08-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127093530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
