However, due to the problems of weak structural stability and voltage decay, their commercial utility is limited. To address this, we use a DFT+U quantum mechanics to investigate the co-doping strategy on Li2RuO3 (LRO) for improved battery performance. In particular, the effect of two co-dopants Ti and Co has been studied. The co-doping strategy has been found to significantly improve the structural and thermal stability of LRO. By slowing the oxygen removal reaction, Ti and Co improve structural stability. Co-doping with Ti and Co increases the maximum open circuit voltage at least by 5.5% and decreases the voltage reduction by a minimum of 44%. Bandgap is also increased by a minimum of 6% with co-doping. In particular, Li2Ru0.5Ti0.375Co0.125O3  provides the highest maximum voltage of 4.4V with 61% decrease in the voltage reduction and 40% lower bandgap (0.45eV).","PeriodicalId":274343,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCED APPLIED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133607831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The current research focuses on the self-crosslinking of fenugreek gum(a medicinal seed gum) and chitosan via Schiff base production through an oxidative pathway into hybrid hydrogels. To create oxidised fenugreek gum(OFG), fenugreek gum was oxidised with sodium periodate. Periodate oxidation converts vicinal glycols in the backbone to aldehydic groups. Crosslinking occurred due to the creation of Schiff base imine connections between amino groups of chitosan and aldehyde groups of oxidised fenugreek gum without the usage of severe conditions or crosslinking and initiator systems. To confirm the structural modifications integrated as well as changes in physiochemical properties of the backbone, FTIR, powdered XRD, FESEM, EDX, and swelling experiments were performed on newly synthesized polymeric networks. To determine their suitability as drug delivery agents, swelling kinetics were examined as a function of reaction parameters and ionic strength of swelling medium.XRD data confirms an increase in crystallinity caused by oxidation, which further reflected as decline in swelling OFG. The pH responsive behaviour of OFG and OFG-cl-CH Schiff base matrix is validated by swelling kinetics. SEM examination validated the porous structural shape of the functionalized gel. Schiff base polymeric networks of OFG-cl-CH follow a pseudo-Fickian process. These newly synthesised OFG-cl-CH Schiff base could be employed as a possible drug delivery systems in the future.","PeriodicalId":274343,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCED APPLIED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH","volume":"81 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128223852","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, we conducted a community-based nutrition intervention program that puts forward immunonutrition in the limelight.Objectives: To study the effects of a community-based nutrition intervention program on (a) the significance of immunonutrients, (b) its rich sources and (c) its role to boost immunity against viral infections and diseases among a local community in Chennai city.Material and Methods: This study used the pretest-posttest design consisting of pre-and post-survey conducted from 400 active participants selected by the random sampling method. Pretest and posttest involved the assessment tools like the 4-point Likert scale and 7-item food frequency questionnaire. The employed intervention strategies include the distribution of informative pamphlets and offering individual nutrition counselling that highlights the benefits of consuming immunonutrients- rich foods. Results: The mean pretest score based on the perception of participants on the importance of immunonutrients was 2.022±0.856. Significant associations between age, education level, and socioeconomic status with the perception levels of the participants were observed (P<0.001). A mean difference of 1.1200±0.0603 was observed when compared with the posttest responses conducted three months after the intervention, showing a significant increase in their perception level (P<0.001). Additionally, the consumption of immunonutrients rich foods studied using the 7-item food frequency questionnaire, also increased.Conclusions: Our intervention program was found remarkably effective for improving the awareness and consumption level of locally available, cost-effective immune-boosting foods among the participants and their intention toward healthy eating behaviour. Thus, a community-based nutrition intervention program would help upgrade awareness about the synergism of nutrition, immunity, and infection.","PeriodicalId":274343,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCED APPLIED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH","volume":"06 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127271203","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The average 75-125 µm mesh was utilized to separate particles. The charcoal parameters of bulk density, surface area, moisture content, pH, and pHzpc have been measured, which are concurrent with literature-reported values. Chemical functionality was studied by FT-IR spectroscopy and particle size was confirmed by scanning electron microscopy. The dye, Reactive Red 2(Red2), adsorbs on the surface of activated charcoal through microscopic holes. General parameter variations, namely exposure time, adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration, temperature, and pH of the dye solution, were used to find out the best condition for dye removal. Compare to the reported adsorbents that require acidic conditions (pH<5), the prepared charcoal has been capable of absorbing Reactive Red 2 at an ambient pH of 5.5. The equilibrium adsorption data were found to match with the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms, and thermodynamic tests indicated the endothermic adsorption process. Furthermore, it has been proven by Lagergren and models, that the monolayer coverage and first-order kinetics of adsorption indicate the scalability of the adsorptive process for large-scale dye removal from waste-water streams.","PeriodicalId":274343,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCED APPLIED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128030750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Studies have reported that grapes have antiobesity, antidiabetic, antiinflammatory, anticarcinogenic, cardioprotective, vasorelaxant, phytoestrogenic, and neuroprotective properties. This study aimed to identify the phytonutrients such as alkaloids, flavonoids, phenol, steroid, tannin, and terpenoids of the coloured seeded grapes. Whole grapes were collected during the vegetation period and divided into three groups as whole fruit (W), fruit skin (P) and seed (S). All three samples were freeze-dried and soaked with the aqueous solution. Ultrasonic homogenized material was used for extraction. Further analysis is done in FTIR for qualitative measurement of the main functional group and antioxidant activity was determined through the DPPH method. The findings revealed that Muscat grapes may be considered as a natural rich source of phenolic amalgam with a notable amount of antioxidant capacity.","PeriodicalId":274343,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCED APPLIED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130907872","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Food security happens when all individuals have physical and economic access to enough and nutritious food which meets their dietary requirements and food choice for an active and healthy life. Limited quantity and supply of nutritious food is a big threat for food security. Because of huge population and high level of malnutrition in India, it is a very big challenge to make sure the supply of sufficient food and nutrition. Buckwheat has become a functional food because of its nutrient content and positive effects on human health. It can be consumed as a food and also used in the treatment of many diseases. The major impacts of buckwheat on human health are its hypotensive, hypoglycemic, hypocholesterolemic, neuroprotective and antioxidant effects. Hence, it is used in the treatment for chronic and metabolic diseases, such as diabetes, hypertension and celiac disease. Buckwheat flour was incorporated in sesame laddu at four different proportions (10%, 20%, 30% and 40%) and the formulated samples along with the standard were standardized. After standardization, it was subjected to sensory analysis and most acceptable proportion was selected and subjected for nutrient analysis. The cost of the product was also estimated. The selected product was popularized among adults. The sensory analysis proved that the sensory characteristics are acceptable with the addition of buck wheat flour. The carbohydrate content was high and the fat content was low in the selected product than in the standard product. The selected product costs little higher than the standard product.","PeriodicalId":274343,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCED APPLIED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131086128","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The use of cast nets revealed 104 species of fish that belongs to 69 genera, 44 families and 10 orders. Assessment using fish health index at Coleroon, Vellar and Uppanar estuaries produced scores of 4.8692, 8.4981 and 1.4042 which means Vellar has better health than Coleroon and Uppanar. In addition, 12 metrics were used to produce the index of biotic integrity where total scores varied from 18 to 51. With Vellar achieving higher scores than Coleroon and Uppanar estuary, a Two-way ANOVA was employed to validate the data with significant achievement (P<0.005). Therefore, we can safely associate Coleroon, Vellar and Uppanar with ‘Fair’, ‘Good’ and ‘Very poor’ grades. Also, visual depiction of Vellar demarcates it as pristine in comparison to Coleroon and Uppanar that are subject to impairments along with dominance of omnivorous fishes. Knowledge from this study eases monitoring of important estuaries particularly for food security so that management sustains community livelihood.","PeriodicalId":274343,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCED APPLIED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH","volume":"90 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127583273","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Marmalade is a food product made using fruit, peel and pulp. This acts as a convenient food for a sports person before a performance on the go. The ingredients Purple grapes, Watermelon and Beetroot juices were selected due to the following reasons. Purple grapes provide high run time (ergogenic effect) with the consumption of single dose. Watermelon juice relieves muscle soreness and fatigue. Beetroot juice increases the level of phosphocreatine resynthesis, increases muscle power in trained athletes and improves the release and reuptake of the calcium at the sarcoplasmic reticulum. The Synergistic marmalade was prepared in different variations and is compared with standard Grapes marmalade and the best one (Variation D) was selected using sensory analysis by 30 semi-trained panel members. The Nutrient analysis and Physiochemical analysis were carried out. The nutrients such as Potassium and Magnesium in Standard Grapes marmalade and Selected best sample were 210.3mg/100g and 10.16mg/100g and 213.6mg /100g and 12.32mg/100g respectively. Physiochemical analysis such as TSS was 65 % for standard as well as the selected variant, Titrable acidity was 0.67% for standard and 0.39% for selected variant and pH was 3.5 for standard and 3.27 for selected variant. All these parameters were tested to check the physical and chemical attributes of the Synergistic marmalade to be compared with the standard marmalade. The best variation was stored in two different packaging material – Glass jar and a Airtight plastic container in a refrigerator for a period of 21 days. During this period shelflife study was carried out using sensory evaluation and microbial analysis on 1st, 7th, 14th and 21st day. The results showed that the product is fit for consumption until 21 days and both the packaging were good for storage. The synergistic marmalade was popularized among adult sports persons by briefing on the significance, nutritional aspects, functional properties and other health benefits with the help of a pamphlet and questionnaire and analyzing the aftermath of the session.","PeriodicalId":274343,"journal":{"name":"JOURNAL OF ADVANCED APPLIED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133096841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
