The current conventional treatment strategies produce limited results with poor repair quality and an extremely long convalescence. Recently, stem cell therapy has shown promising results to enhancing the healing process of many degenerative diseases. The present study aims to evaluate the effect of autologous mesenchymal bone Marrow-Derived Stem Cells (MSCs) in the healing of collagenase-induced SDFT tendonitis lesions in both forelimbs of 5 horses. The injured tendons of the right forelimbs were treated by injection of autologous MSCs and the injured tendons of the other left forelimbs were injected with saline. The horses were clinically, ultrasonography and morpho-histology evaluated at 2, 4, 8, 12 &16 weeks. Horses were euthanized after 16 weeks. Results proved the potential of autologous MSCs to accelerating tendon repair in terms of quality and time. The success of treatment was proven by the shortened rehabilitation time and the higher number of horses returning to normal activity","PeriodicalId":274001,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biotechnology & Bioresearch","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131099809","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article compares the results for pH and soil abundance in available forms of phosphorus, potassium and magnesium estimated using near-infrared spectroscopy in the 580-1850nm range and on the basis of standard laboratory methods. Soil samples were taken from a field of 20.6ha, from the surface of each polygon defined by a grid of squares with sides of 50x50m. The total soil sample (80) assigned to the square 50x50m taken from the arable layer to a depth of 0.2m. The constructed models must be then subjected to validation using an independent set of samples. In the presented experiment the samples were randomly divided into two equal sets, 40 samples each. A simple correlation analysis was conducted in order to estimate the correlations between the results obtained using standard methods and the spectrophotometry. The results were shown high relationship between values obtained by using NIRS and laboratory methods. Coefficients of determination computed for model calibration on the basis of linear regression, which for the soil pH, K content and subsequently for Mg and P was obtained, respectively: R2=0.90; R2=0.91; R2=0.83; R2=0.86. The results show the lower coherence of NIRS results with laboratory results for pH and K2O, followed by Mg and P2O5 for model verification. Determination coefficients in this case were as follows: R2=0.56; R2=0.54; R2=0.51 and R2=0.48. The fertility maps developed on the basis of laboratory analyses and by means of InfraXactTM device differed by 19% for phosphorus and 7,25% (relative root square error for area of fertility classes) for potassium.","PeriodicalId":274001,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biotechnology & Bioresearch","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124564827","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, aminoacids are one very important factor too in the metabolism of organic matter, either vegetable or animal, but the effect of fertilizers related with aminoacids is not so known. This paper attempts to measure, in terms of percentage, the different absorption of 15 aminoacids by one vegetable (poblano chili), when it is escorted or not by one Mexican fertilizer: Fulvi-75. Introduction Fulvi-75, made and distributed by Mexican Company Fitochem (www.fitochem.com. mx), was used as fertilizer. It is a compound made by 78.9 % of fulvic acids as percentage of final mixture. Fifteen 14C labelled aminoacids were used: 14C-LAmino Acid Mixture, 50 μCi (1.85MBq) in ethanol: water (2.98), sterile packaged, Perkin-Elmer, Product number NEC850E. Seeds of Mexican vegetable poblano chili were used to test the absorption of mentioned aminoacids, till 21 days later they started their germination. It was considered in this research, that 14C present in the fertilizer, as natural component by its organic cycle, is negligible when compared with 14C labelled aminoacids, and it was considered as background of counts per unit time, from those counts produced by used aminoacids (Table 1), since any way they are absorbed in different proportion when fertilizer is used. Table 1: 14C labelled aminoacids (Perkin-Elmer product number NEC850E) and percentage present in the mixture)(Total Radioactivity 50 μCi). Once they have started to grow up, both of them were irrigated daily during 21 days with 50ml of water solution containing the mixture of aminoacids labelled with 11.1 d/ml-m of 14C, previously made by diluting 50 μCi of commercial product from Perkin Elmer, The radiochemical Centre, Amersham, England, in 1 liter of water, and then 1ml. of this solution in 100ml. of water, and finally 1ml. of this in another 100ml. of water, to get an activity of 11.1d/m-ml, used to irrigate daily pots 1 and 2, each one with 50ml. of labelled solution [1,2]. But pot 1 was irrigated also with 50ml. of one solution containing 1mg/ml of the organic fertilizer Fulvi-75, produced by Mexican industry Fitochem (www.fitochem.com.mx), while pot 2 was irrigated also with 50ml. of just water. Their expansion depends on the method of preparation and the study of their structure. In this paper, an improvement of a novel category of membrane for performing toxic ions elimination was reported. Different membranes were synthesized using a mixture of polymers: polysulfone (PSu) and cellulose triacetate (CTA), Dioctylphtalate (DOP) was used as a plasticizer and Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) was incorporated into the polymers as carrier to increase specific interactions between the different components. The membranes (polymers- plasticizer-carrier) were synthesized using a new method and characterized by various techniques including Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and contact angle. As the plasticizers’ molecules were hydrophobic; their location at the surface of the modified polymeric membranes should modify the contact angle. Overall, our results showed that the addition of plasticizer with two polymers resulted in a homogeneous and hydrophobic membranes. A study of transport of Pb(II) and Cd(II) using synthesized membranes was studied. Dialysis experiments of lead and cadmium ions across a polymer inclusion membrane have proved a good performance.","PeriodicalId":274001,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biotechnology & Bioresearch","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121931575","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to pollution concerns, other problems assailing humanity include global hunger, lack of clean water in many parts of the world, and the rising cost of energy production. In order to remediate an environmental pollution issue, and, simultaneously, to generate three main items that are essential to humanity, the novel Integrated Air-Vinasse Treatment-to-Food, Energy, Water, and a Novel Mosquito-Combatant Soil Amendment was conceptualized [1]. This report reviews the said novel integrated air-vinasse treatment-to-co-products process: TAOS (Three and One Significant products). In this study, other vinasse treatment alternatives are also reviewed. A succinct description of the five main stages of the TAOS process is summarized. Biogas treatment technologies are reviewed. The novel concept of a vinasse-generated mosquito-combatant fertilizer is revealed. A process flow diagram of the TAOS process is shown.","PeriodicalId":274001,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biotechnology & Bioresearch","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-03-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126298443","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Aflatoxins are toxic and persuasive carcinogenic species and may harm human health badly. In the present study the quality assessment of aflatoxins contamination in red chilies was done by using TLC (Thin Layer Chromatographic) technique. Total 100 red chilli samples collected from various localities of Lahore were checked for aflatoxin contamination and the extent of aflatoxin contamination in the red chilli samples was found quite high. The aflatoxin B1 amount in samples ranges from min 0.2µgKg -1 to max 695.29 µgKg -1 while aflatoxin B2 in samples ranges from 0.73-15.33 µgKg -1 . Aflatoxins G1 and G2 were absent in all samples. It was found that 88% of the red chilli samples were contaminated with aflatoxin and 64% samples were containing aflatoxins beyond permissible limits. The results show a dejected condition of the red chillies which are unfit for human consumption. The supply of red chillies in Lahore, Pakistan is alarmingly dreadful for Humans health as aflatoxin may cause cancer when exceed permissible limits. The main reason for contamination of aflatoxins in chilli samples is the lack of implementing quality practices.","PeriodicalId":274001,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Biotechnology & Bioresearch","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-01-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129677752","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
