The gain of the antenna is improved further by suppressing surface wave in the substrate by using two different methods (1) partial removal of substrate around the patch and (2) mushroom type electromagnetic (EBG) structure. In either case overall gain and directionality of the antenna are greatly improved, however in case of latter the beamwidth of emission is slightly larger and side lobes are smaller as compared to former. To best of our knowledge this is the first design of patch antenna employing both EBG and novel fishnet metamaterial for enhanced performance.","PeriodicalId":272955,"journal":{"name":"2013 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATION (ICSC)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122780103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a novel twelve transistor (12T) SRAM cell is proposed. The proposed cell demonstrates SNM free read operation and an enhanced static noise margin (SNM) for hold mode of the cell. The 12T SRAM cell is designed such that during the read operation, the switching threshold voltage (VTRIP) of the inverter storing logic `1' becomes high enough, which ensures that the cell does not flip even if a high amount of noise is injected on to the storage node storing logic `0'. The cell also provides better values for write margin. The simulations have been carried out on 45nm technology node with process parameter variations.","PeriodicalId":272955,"journal":{"name":"2013 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATION (ICSC)","volume":"53 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122825966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A heuristic method of designing a network is achieved by scheduling algorithm which is based on network parameters such as interference free transmissions, and optimization of avoidable scheduling sets. We derive a joint linear optimization problem which is used in the designing of the wireless network. Further when the scheduling is done, the network coding is adapted. The code construction algorithms are used and the unequal timeshare is incorporated in designing network codes. The paper demonstrates the variation in the network performance parameters like Throughput, Energy efficiency, Delay, Packet Delivery Ratio, Overhead, and Normalized Overhead. The statistics is madeby varying the network modeling parameters with different node densities. After the network coding, based on the traffic flow, the sleep state is introduced where the network goes to the hibernated mode. A unique joint optimized structure is required for MAC scheduling and network coding. A heuristic approach of scheduling is needed to avoid hidden station problem. Also to provide an energy and throughput optimization for multi hop wireless network.","PeriodicalId":272955,"journal":{"name":"2013 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATION (ICSC)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124799360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the current conveyor topology is based upon CMOS inverters and the other realization is based on translinear loop. 3-db bandwidth, Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) and output noise are used as comparison parameters. Simulation results show that THD of CMOS inverter's based filters is lesser than that of the translinear loop based CCII filters. The former topology also enjoys better noise throughout its bandwidth against the latter one. All the simulations are done on PSPICE using typical BSIM3V3 0.35μm CMOS process parameters.","PeriodicalId":272955,"journal":{"name":"2013 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATION (ICSC)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131494321","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper has suggested a novel approach for developing an automatic, adaptive, fast and reliable system capable of recognizing enrolment number and corresponding marks of student from answer sheet and storing it in the host computer. This system consist a hardware which picks out sheets one by one from a bundle and captures image of the front page of each answer script. This image is processed by proposed robust extraction and noise removal algorithm adaptive to environmental conditions. It is then passed through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) system which extracts characters using correlation. Accuracy of system depends on the sample space size of OCR system. In our experiment we have archived average 81% accuracy in various light and paper (Exam-Sheet) condition. We had trained the OCR with 50 samples of numerals set (0-9). In this way developed system will not only replace the traditional tiring way of manual writing of marks in database but in addition can calculate average marks of all students, ranges of marks for assigning different grade and provide grade for each student automatically.","PeriodicalId":272955,"journal":{"name":"2013 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATION (ICSC)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130965233","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However most of the SOC systems are synchronous designs and the issues like clock skew, power consumption and EMI are related to clock network. Asynchronous circuits can offer benefits like reduced power and improved performance. However implementing whole design with asynchronous design style is a challenge due to lack of CAD tools. The GALS (Globally-Asynchronous Locally-Synchronous) design methods brings compromise between synchronous and asynchronous design styles by separating each synchronous blocks in SoC with asynchronous interface. Each synchronous block in SoC can perform operation with its own local clock. The data communication among synchronous blocks can be achieved via handshaking signals after pausing the local clocks. Though these GALS system architectures ensures less dynamic power through clock less asynchronous interface the leakage power contribution to total power equation is still a challenge in deep submicron technologies. Power gating is most effective technique for synchronous design to address leakage power. In this paper an asynchronous power gating sequence generation is proposed for GALS synchronous blocks which has to wait long time for data. To corroborate the proposed technique a synthesis flow is proposed to implement asynchronous 8051 micro controller. The implementation was done using Synopsys SAED 90 nm libraries and the experimental results shows 30% leakage power reduction for power gating blocks.","PeriodicalId":272955,"journal":{"name":"2013 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATION (ICSC)","volume":"97 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134043110","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Research on antenna design is very critical for the implementation of cognitive radio. A special antenna is required in cognitive radio for sensing and communication purposes. This papers investigates the use of multiband fractal antennas for spectrum sensing application in cognitive radio units. The performance of a new fractal antenna design which generates four bands of operation in the range of 900-4000 MHz has also been studied. The notions of similarity index of order p and the rate of similarity for a sequence lying in a given closed interval is introduced and studied. It is established that for the dichotomous sequence lying between 0 and 1, the uncertainty decreases linearly with a constant rate. Moreover, the properties of this new entropy functional are studied and the findings are compared with the entropy functions defined by Shannon [1] and Pal and Pal [4, 5]. In this paper, we propose a novel set of features extracted from a walking sequence of a person, which include the varying leg spread, the motion of centroid, the number of pixels on the vertical line through centroid, and the sum of foreground pixels as the dynamic features, and the height and maximum leg spread as the static features for gait identification. These features are very easy to obtain, but contain significant information about the gait of the person. To reduce the size of data, the dynamic features are represented by their respective line spectral pairs. Match scores obtained using Euclidean distance measure on these features are combined with match scores obtained by comparing the horizontal and vertical projection vectors. Nearest neighbor classifier is used and the performance of our recognition algorithm is tested on CASIA A dataset. The results are compared with previous works in this category.","PeriodicalId":272955,"journal":{"name":"2013 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SIGNAL PROCESSING AND COMMUNICATION (ICSC)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124349591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
