The main method used for that purpose is tracing. Tracing raises a range of challenging issues, both psychological and statistical. Naive assumptions about these issues are easy to make, and can lead to inappropriate requirements and uses. The natural function of traces is to capture perceived affect, and as such they belong in long traditions of research on both perception and emotion. Experiments on several types of material provide information about their characteristics, particularly the ratings on which people tend to agree. Disagreement is not necessarily a problem in the technique. It may correctly show that people's impressions of emotion diverge more than commonly thought. A new system, Gtrace, is designed to let rating studies capitalise on a decade of experience and address the research questions that are opened up by the data now available.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. For effective affective computing experiences, emotions should be detected accurately. The emotion influences appear in all the modalities of humans, such as the facial expression, voice, and body language, as well as in the different bio-parameters of the agents, such as the electro-dermal activity (EDA), the respiration patterns, the skin conductance, and the temperature as well as the brainwaves, which is called electroencephalography (EEG). This review provides an overview of the emotion recognition process, its methodology, and methods. It also explains the EEG-based emotion recognition as an example of emotion recognition methods demonstrating the required steps starting from capturing the EEG signals during the emotion elicitation process, then feature extraction using different techniques, such as empirical mode decomposition technique (EMD) and variational mode decomposition technique (VMD). Finally, emotion classification using different classifiers including the support vector machine (SVM) and deep neural network (DNN) is also highlighted.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. This article addresses computational use and usefulness of the third factor, i.e., Dominance. The claim made in this article is that Dominance should be seriously considered when modeling or measuring affect. More concretely, it presents an easy to understand conceptual description of Dominance, followed by cases in which Dominance was instrumental in modeling synthetic affect, as well as cases in which Dominance was instrumental in measuring user affect. Finally, it relates the PAD factor model to appraisal dimensions.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Synth. Here, the authors propose an original paradigm based on affective computing and virtual reality technologies requiring the assessment of helping intentions as well as self-monitoring metacognition. Sixteen healthy subjects played a 38-turns card games with a virtual affective agent MARC during which they had to guess between two cards the one that would be color-matched with another card. Their guesses could be oriented by the agent's emotional displays. Three subjective ratings on a percentage analog scale were recorded after each trial: helpfulness, self-monitoring, and sympathy. Help recognition and self-monitoring metacognitive ratings raise the question of the importance to enhance both components in therapeutic situations within psychiatric populations. Overall, this study exemplifies the promising use of virtual reality settings for future studies in the medical psychology field.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Synth. In this work, a person's physiological parameters are measured to decide emotional status. A generalized system measures changes occurring in the body of a subject, such as heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, electro-dermal Galvanic skin resistance activity, and arm and leg motions. These measurements are then compared with the normal levels of the subject. The present work monitors the physiological parameters by connecting sensors at specific points on a test body. Two physiological parameters are considered: galvanic skin response GSR and finger tip temperature FTT. The heart rate is predominant in deciding the emotion of a person. This system, in conjunction with a certified examiner, is used to analyze a subject's stress. A system is constructed that measures physiological parameters along with signal conditioning units. These measurements are transmitted to a LabVIEW add-on card for further data processing and analysis. LabVIEW is a graphical programming language that includes all tools necessary for data acquisition, data analysis, and presentation of results. The results obtained are realistic and provide a measure of accuracy.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Synth. Kansei is a Japanese word, the meaning of which covers sensibility, sentiment, emotion, and feeling. Kansei research started in the field of music, because music is the most acceptable of the arts to computer science. In the 1990s, the applications of Kansei machine vision became widespread in many industrial fields, including electronic production, automobile manufacture, steel-making, the chemical industry, the food industry, and office appliances, among others. Kansei technologies are also applied to human interface systems, including the field of brain science, for human communication.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Synth. Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix GLCM based texture features, DWT and DCT transform features and Invariant Moments are used to classify the data.
