Twitter is a social network where users post their feelings, opinions and sentiments for any event. This paper transforms the unstructured tweets into structured information using open source libraries. Further objective is to build a model using Deep Belief Networks classification (DBN) to classify unseen tweets on the same context. This paper collects tweets on this event under six hashtags. This study explores three freely available resources / Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for labeling of tweets for academic research. This paper proposes three sentiment prediction models using the sentiment predictions provided by three APIs. DBN classifier is used to build six models. The performances of these six models are evaluated through standard evaluation metrics. The experimental results reveal that the TextBlob API and proposed Preference Model outperformed than the other four sentiment prediction models.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. The clustering technique is first applied on two calling features extracted from the past call records of a subscriber generating a behavioral profile for the user. The HMM parameters are computed from the profile, which are used to generate some profile sequences for training. The trained HMM model is then applied for detecting fraudulent activities on incoming call sequences. A calling instance is detected as forged when the new sequence is not accepted by the trained model with sufficiently high probability. The efficacy of the proposed system is demonstrated by extensive experiments carried out with Reality Mining dataset. Furthermore, the comparative analysis performed with other clustering methods and another approach recently proposed in the literature justifies the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. In contrast, appraisal theories of emotion suggest that cognitive appraisal of a situation and the resulting action tendencies determine facial actions in a complex cumulative and sequential process. It is feasible to assume that, in consequence, the expression recognition process is driven by the inference of appraisal configurations that can then be interpreted as discrete emotions. To obtain first evidence with realistic but well-controlled stimuli, theory-guided systematic facial synthesis of action units in avatar faces was used, asking judges to rate 42 combinations of facial actions action units on 9 appraisal dimensions. The results support the view that emotion recognition from facial expression is largely mediated by appraisal-action tendency inferences rather than direct categorical judgment. Implications for affective computing are discussed.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Synth. Most modern automatic speech emotion recognition systems use Gaussian mixture models GMM and Support Vector Machines SVM. GMM are known for their performance and scalability in the spectral modeling while SVM are known for their discriminatory power. A GMM-supervector characterizes an emotional style by the GMM parameters mean vectors, covariance matrices, and mixture weights. GMM-supervector SVM benefits from both GMM and SVM frameworks. In this paper, the GMM-UBM mean interval GUMI kernel based on the Bhattacharyya distance is successfully used. CFSSubsetEval combined with Best first algorithm and Greedy stepwise were also utilized on the supervectors space in order to select the most important features. This framework is illustrated using Mel-frequency cepstral MFCC coefficients and Perceptual Linear Prediction PLP features on two different emotional databases namely the Surrey Audio-Expressed Emotion and the Berlin Emotional speech Database.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. Different Facial attributes contribute to a wide variety of emotions under varied circumstances. These same features also vary widely from person to person, introducing uncertainty to the process. Facial features like eye-opening, mouth-opening and length of eye-brow constriction from localized areas from a face are Fuzzified and converted into emotion space by employing relational models. This is dealt with Fuzzy Type-2 logic, which reigns supreme in reducing uncertainty.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Synth. As it turns out, the phonetic structure of each word root in any language symbolizes an abstract template. In a fully functional human being, this abstract template is subconsciously converted into a practical concrete template that can be used to manage a specific human function in a certain domain. Many such templates have been presented and discussed in the past for the domains of emotions, cognition, economics, and others. In this paper, the author will demonstrate that the manner in which emotional templates are utilized by a person his emotional choices determines how concrete templates are generated from word roots for cognitive functioning and for all other aspects of human behaviour and personal development.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. Consequently, technologies that emulate human intelligent behavior cannot be thought completely intelligent without incorporating interference of emotional component in the rational reasoning processes. Recently, several researchers have been started working in the field of emotion modeling to cater the need of interactive computer applications that demand human-like interaction with the computer. However, due to the absence of structured guidelines, the most challenging task for the researcher is to understand and select the most appropriate definitions, theories and processes governing the human psychology to design the intended model. The objective of the present article is to review the background scenario and necessary studies for designing emotion model for a computer machine so that it could generate appropriate synthetic emotions while interacting with the external environmental factors.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. Laughter spontaneously appears as an instinctive “gut†reaction; but it is also a cognitive phenomenon (humour), it is social, it has positive-negative valence, and it may wrap itself onto other emotional contents. Laughter becomes one of the most interesting instances to discuss the common information processing that underlies emotions and intelligence. In this article a new core hypothesis on the neurodynamics of laughter and its behavioural repercussions is discussed. The “sentic forms†hypothesis developed by Manfred Clynes for sensory-motor tactile communication is generalized neurodynamically in order to understand the problem-solving characteristics of laughter and the unusual sound features that it presents in our species. Laughter, far from being a curious evolutionary relic or a trivial innate behaviour, should be considered as a highly efficient tool for cognitive-emotional-social problem solving. Explaining laughter becomes a first-class neurodynamic and neurocomputational challenge.","PeriodicalId":272943,"journal":{"name":"Int. J. Synth.
