Because of the low grid frequency the time-variant control margin is especially limited. To reduce the demand on the converter control in case of load changes, the DC-load current is predicted by a parameter-dependent fourth-order time-delay element. This paper gives a short introduction to the test bench used for railway grid-interaction analysis. Furthermore the stator-flux-based Indirect Stator-Quantities Control (ISC) of induction machines as well as the derivation of the dynamic torque response and the resulting DC-load current are described. The excellent operation of the approximation is verified by simulation adjusted to measurement results.","PeriodicalId":272748,"journal":{"name":"2009 Compatibility and Power Electronics","volume":"141 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116864378","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first converter works as a quasi-square waveform inverter with the main objective of injecting the energy produced by the photovoltaic generation system. The second converter acts as an active power filter with the objective that the current that flows from or to the grid is sinusoidal. The presented power injection system will be able to achieve a sinusoidal current even when a non-linear load is connected to the same point of common coupling. The performance of the proposed system, including the maximum power point tracking algorithm, is evaluated through simulation.","PeriodicalId":272748,"journal":{"name":"2009 Compatibility and Power Electronics","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130092949","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The power supplies with hysteretic modulators exhibit superior dynamic performance and help reduce the number of output capacitors without sacrificing transient response. The synthetic ripple modulator (SRM) allows proper hysteretic operation even with a small and corrupted output voltage ripple. This paper discusses a dynamic optimization technique for the SRM, which enables the voltage regulator module (VRM) to get back within regulation in the least amount of time with minimum number of output capacitors. The design methodology and corresponding equations are derived and verified with a design example. Experimental validation on a 1.8 V/15 A module demonstrates the effectiveness of the technique with a maximum excursion time of 5 µs above the static regulation limits.","PeriodicalId":272748,"journal":{"name":"2009 Compatibility and Power Electronics","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122958404","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two main areas have to be taken into account: Line-current harmonics and interharmonics are limited with often extremely low limit values compared to nominal current, respecting the properties and safety issues of railway track circuits. Grid stability is influenced by the varying grid impedance seen by the moving vehicle, in connection with varying resonances, influenced by other vehicles and the actual grid configuration.","PeriodicalId":272748,"journal":{"name":"2009 Compatibility and Power Electronics","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129899438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The classification strategy is based in competitive layers. We focus on the problem of differentiating two types of transients: short-duration (impulsive transients) and long-duration (oscillatory transients). The results show that the measured vectors are classified into clearly differentiated clusters in the feature space. The experience aims to set the foundations of an automatic procedure for PQ event detection.","PeriodicalId":272748,"journal":{"name":"2009 Compatibility and Power Electronics","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133960719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To know their value in the frequency range between grid fundamental frequency and up to frequency's in the kHz-range is very useful. It contributes to optimize energy feed in as well as from decentralized converter equipped renewable sources. This paper presents an advanced frequency dependent impedance measurement system for the energized grid with a high frequency range. For these grid impedance measurements a fast switching three-phase high frequency converter with a fast and robust control is required. Control is carried out by a FPGA based tolerance band or hysteresis control. The power circuit for high frequency (up to 10 kHz) measuring current is presented and measurements are shown and analyzed.","PeriodicalId":272748,"journal":{"name":"2009 Compatibility and Power Electronics","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114515945","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the majority of cases all frequency components except the odd multiples of the fundamental oscillation of the grid voltage are strictly limited. Hence all advanced control schemes are operating grid-synchronised. Because these control schemes additionally need accurate information of the actual grid voltage often a combination of Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) and Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) is used. In railway-grid applications there are special requirements to the transient response time of the synchronisation. In this paper the transient response time is notably reduced by using a sophisticated feed-forward control. Based on a brief introduction of the DFT this feed-forward control is derived in detail. Simulation results verify the excellent operation of the PLL and DFT combination even if the line voltage is disturbed by stationary and dynamic grid intrusions or pantograph arcing.","PeriodicalId":272748,"journal":{"name":"2009 Compatibility and Power Electronics","volume":"1 5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-05-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117228253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
