Most of these complications develop during pregnancy and most are preventable or treatable. Aim: To assess postpartum nurse's compliance with safety measures. Settings: The study will be carried out at the all postpartum units in five hospitals in Alexandria. The Tool one: Nurses knowledge about safety measures during postpartum period. This tool divided into two parts: The Part I: Socio-demographic data structured Questionnaire: It will include basic data of the study. The Part Two: Nurses knowledge about safety measures during postpartum period. Tool two: Postpartum nurses’ compliance with Safety measures guidelines observational checklist: This tool will be adapted by the researcher from ministry of health and WHO. Results: The study revealed that more than half (55%) of the studied nurses had poor score compared to 41% of them had fair score and only 4% of the studied nurses had good score of knowledge. It was observed that more than half on the studied nurses (53.00%) had poor total score of compliance while 47.00% of them had fair score Conclusion: The study clarified that there is no statistically significant relationship between the studied nurses total score of compliance and their knowledge regarding safety measures during postpartum period. Both techniques have a crucial role in reducing stress that can lower blood glucose level in children with T1DM. Objective : Investigate the effect of Swedish massage versus progressive muscle relaxation on blood glucose level of children with T1DM. Setting : This study was conducted at the Outpatient diabetic clinic in the Specialized University Hospital at Smouha in Alexandria. Design: A quasi experimental research design was used. Subjects: A convenient sample of 50 diabetic children who were randomly allocated to two equal study groups (study I (SM) and study II (PMR)). Tools : Two tools were used; Socio-demographic and Medical History of Diabetic Children Interview Schedule and Blood glucose level Assessment Tool Results : Swedish massage and progressive muscle relaxation were associated with significant decreases in fasting blood glucose level, random blood glucose level and consequently HbA1C after intervention (P<0.001 for all blood glucose levels) . The SM group demonstrated more decrease in fasting blood glucose level, random blood glucose level and consequently HbA1C than PMR group. Where means of HbA1C for SM and PMR were 7.88 ± 0.92 and 9.08 ± 1.08 respectively after intervention and there was a statistical significant difference (P = 0.007). Conclusion: Both techniques are effective to decrease blood glucose levels in diabetic children. While Swedish massage was more effective than PMR. Heart failure is difficult to treat because it has multiple causes and influenced by a wide range of patient genetic, lifestyle factors and co-morbidities. So, HF manifests, progresses, and responds to treatment differently in each individual . Aim: To assess the lifestyle of patients with heart failure. Settings: The study was conducted at the cardiac outpatient clinic at Baquba Teaching Hospital. Subjects: A convenience sample of 200, male and female patients diagnosed with heart failure for receiving treatment and follow up . Tools: two tools were used. Tool one: “Bio-socio-demographic and clinical data of patients with heart failure structured interview schedule\". Tool two: “Life style of patient with heart failure structured interview schedule\". Results: The study showed that there was positive statistically significant relation between age and overall life style of patients with heart failure were p (0.009). There was positive statistically significant relation between marital status and overall life style of patients with heart failure were p ( ˂ 0.001). However, there was negative statistically significant relation between monthly income (from patients’ point of view) and overall life style of patients with heart failure, who had unhealthy lifestyle were p (0.005) . Conclusion: It found that,48% of the studied subjects with heart failure were unhealthy life style. Foot reflexology can overcome these complains and help practicing nursing care more efficiently. Objective: Determine the effect of foot reflexology on physiologic stability, weight and fatigue among children undergoing Hemodialysis. Settings: The study was conducted in the Hemodialysis Unit at Smouha Specialty Hospital in Alexandria, Egypt. Subjects: A convenience sampling of 60 children, who admitted to the previously mentioned unit and fulfilled the criteria, comprised the subject. The sample was divided into two equal groups (30 children in each group) . Tools: Three tools were used. Tool I: “Socio-demographic Characteristics and Medical History of Children's Assessment Sheet. Tool II: “Physiologic profile Assessment Sheet “. Tool III: \"Child Fatigue Scale (FAS)\". Results: The study revealed that there was a significant improvement in physiologic indices, and body weight among children in the study group compared to those in the control group (P= 0.005, P= 0.005and P= 0.003respectively). Furthermore, children in the study group exhibited significantly lower fatigue levels than children in the control group (P=0.000, 0.000 and 0.000 respectively). Conclusion: The implementation of foot reflexology is an eminent technique that can improve physiologic stability, body weight, and lowered fatigue level. Recommendations: Pediatric nurses should implement foot reflexology in their practice for children undergoing hemodialysis . The device has become an integral part of daily oncology nursing clinical care, mandating a knowledgeable and competent nurse who is able to meet specific patient’s needs and prevent serious complications. Aim: To assess nurses' knowledge and practice regarding implanted port-A-Catheter care for patients undergoing chemotherapy. Settings: The In-patient Medical Unit of the Damanhur Oncology Center; affiliated to Ministry of Health and Population at El-Beheira Governorate, Egypt. Subjects: All available (60) oncology nurses involved in direct implanted port-A-catheter care for patients undergoing chemotherapy were included. Tools: two tools were used. Tool one: “Oncology Nurses' Knowledge Structured Interview Questionnaire”. Tool two: “Oncology Nurses' Practices regarding Implanted Port-A-Catheter Care for Patients undergoing Chemotherapy Observational Checklist”. Results: More than half (56.7%) of the studied nurses had fair overall knowledge level, and almost all (96.7%) of the studied nurses had poor level of practice regarding implanted Port -A-Catheter care for patients undergoing chemotherapy. Moreover, there was a positive statistical significant correlation between nurses’ overall knowledge and overall practices. Conclusion: The study concluded that nurses' knowledge regarding implanted Port -A- Catheter care for patients undergoing chemotherapy were fair while their practices were poor. The patient does not need to be in the supine position for continuous measurement of IAP. Hence, this study evaluated the impact of differing head of bed elevations (HOB) on bladder pressure when used as a surrogate IAP measurement in severely intubated patients. Aim of the study: The aim of the study was to determine the effect of head of bed elevation on intra-abdominal pressure measurement among mechanically ventilated patients. Materials and Method: Research design: the design of this study was a quasi-experimental. Setting: this study was conducted at the general ICU of Damanhur Medical Institute. Subjects: A convenience sample of 60 mechanically ventilated patients was involved. Tool: this study used an assessment tool which consists of four parts; part I: it was used to identify characteristics and clinical data of patients. Part II: this part was used to identify ventilator data. Part III: it was used to identify vital signs which include pulse, temperature systolic, diastolic and mean blood pressure. Part IV: this part was used to identify IAP measurements. Methods: Body mass index (BMI), vital signs, ventilator parameters and Intra-abdominal pressure (IAP) were assessed at different head of bed elevation angles; supine, 15°, 30°and 45°. Results: IAP was found to be increased significantly with increases in HOB angle. Moreover, it was increased significantly, specifically at 45°. Age and BMI positively correlated with IAP with significant differences. Conclusion: There was no difference in the measurement values of IAP: supine position, HOB elevation 15° and 30°. These challenges need well prepared nurse leader who adopt an effective leadership style to manage and overcome these challenges. Leadership styles of first –line nurse managers can have a favorable impact on staff nurses′ engagement and empowerment, resulting in increased nurses’ performance. Aim: To identify the correlation between first –line nurse managers′ leadership style and staff nurses ′structural empowerment and work engagement. Settings : This study was conducted in all inpatient’s medical units (24 units) and surgical units (15 units) at Alexandria Main University Hospitals, as it is the largest hospital, contained a large number of beds and staff nurses with different qualifications. Subjects : convenience sample of 340 staff nurses with 6 months experience and more who provided direct and indirect care to patients, and who worked in the previously mentioned units and available at the time of data collection. Tools : Three tools were used in this study Namely; The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire 5X Short Form, Conditions of Work Effectiveness Questionnaire (CWEQ Ⅱ) and Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES). Results : The study showed there was significant positive high correlation between transformational leadership style and staff nurses ′structural empowerment where (r = 0.754, p = 0.000*), and significant positive moderate correlation between transformational leadership style and staff nurses ′ work engagement where (r = 0. 575, p = 0.000*). Additionally, there was insignificant low correlation between transactional leadership style and staff nurses ′structural empowerment where (r = 0.047, p = 0.384). furthermore, there was significant low correlation between transactional leadership style and staff nurses ′ work engagement where (r = 0.129, p = 0.017*). Also, there was significant negative correlation between laissez – faire leadership style and staff nurses ′structural empowerment and work engagement. Recommendations: For the nursing administrators Providing a healthy work environment that characterized with open communication through conducting a schedule for staff meeting and workshops with their managers to improve the ability of the manager to consider structural empowerment and work engagement. If the community merely had more understanding about mental health issues, the ability to recognize such conditions, and the search for appropriate and timely treatment (Tay et al., 2018), a significant number of additional lives could be spared. Aim: To assess the level of mental health literacy among psychiatric patients’ family caregivers. Settings: It was conducted at El-Maamoura Hospital for Psychiatric Medicine's outpatient clinic. Egypt. Subjects: composed of 270 family caregivers of patients with psychiatric disorders. Tools: two tools were developed and used by researcher to collect the necessary data: Tool one: Patients and Structured Interview Schedule for Family Carers' Socio-Demographic and Clinical Data. Tool two: Mental Health Literacy Scale. Results: Majority of Patients’ family caregivers demonstrated moderate level of MHL and only 19.6% had a high MHL level. Nurses as the major group of health service providers need to have a satisfactory quality of work life in order to give desirable care to all patients in the hospital, and WPB is one important factor that lead to a decline in nurses’ quality of work-life, satisfaction as well as their efficiency and competency. Aim: to investigate the relationship between workplace bullying and the quality of nursing work life in the intensive care units at Damanhour Chest and Fever Hospitals. Settings : This study was conducted at the Intensive Care Units at the main two hospitals at El-Beheira governorate namely: Chest Hospital and Fever Hospital. Which are affiliated to the Ministry of Health and Population. Subjects: The subject of this study included all nurses who were working in the previously mentioned setting with experience more than 6 months (n=145). Tools: two tools were used. Tool one: “The Negative Act Questionnaire (NAQ)\". Tool two: “Quality of Nursing Work Life Instrument ( QNWL)\". Aim of the study: Examine the relationship between health care organizational culture and professional nurses' autonomy at Hosh Issa Central hospital, El-Beheira Governorate. Research design : A descriptive correlational research design was used. Setting : all inpatient care units (n=11) at Hosh Issa Central Hospital, El-Beheira Governorate. Subject: All head nurses and their assistants (n=22) and all staff nurses (n=267). Tools: Two tools were utilized Tool I: Organizational Culture Questionnaire. Tool II: Professional Nurses’ Autonomy Scale . Results and Conclusion : there was a positive correlation between total autonomy and its dimensions nursing practice environment, patient care management and educational back ground (r=0.934 p=0.000, r=0.975 p=0.000 and r=0.967 p=0,000 respectively), a positive correlation between total organizational culture and its internal and external focus dimensions namely empowerment (r=0.892 p=0.000), team orientation(r=0.937 p=0.000), patient focus (r=0.963 p=0.000),organizational learning (r=0.954 p=0.000), and finally vision (r=0.818 p=0.000). There was a positive correlation between total organizational cultures, internal and external focus dimensions and total autonomy.
