Objective: To present a clinical case of basal cell carcinoma of the vulva and review of the literature. Clinical case: A 58-year-old patient, without comorbidities or risk factors, who presented a nodule in the upper third of the right labia majora; Excisional biopsy was performed with margins free of macroscopic tumor, basal cell carcinoma was reported. Methodology: A narrative review is carried out from 2014 to 2021 in PubMed, scholaris, SciELO Google scholar and books, finding 27 articles and only 20 were included for reliability, impact factor. Results: Vulvar cancer represents 4% of gynecological cancer worldwide. 0.4% of all basal cell carcinomas occur in the genital region, and in the vulva it represents 2 to 4% of all vulvar cancers. Basal cell carcinoma of the vulva most commonly presents as a solitary pink or pigmented papule or plaque on the labia majora; bilateral and multifocal lesions may occur. Basal cell carcinoma of the vulva is an extremely rare tumor that rarely metastasizes or spreads. . Primary treatment should consist of wide local excision and continuous monitoring. Conclusion: Any suspicious lesion of the vulva must be biopsied to reach a timely diagnosis and treatment, the rarity of these lesions and the lack of care on the part of the patient and the negligence of the doctor not to perform an examination of the vulva, the lesions progress until symptoms occur or are discovered during medical examination, vulvar cancer is suspected, radical excisional biopsy is the correct therapeutic approach.","PeriodicalId":272014,"journal":{"name":"Obstetrics & Gynecology International Journal","volume":"62 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-06-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141387630","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective: The prevalence and awareness of sexual violence on female undergraduates attending Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu was evaluated. Method: The study was a cross-sectional study that involved 400 female students, self-administered questionnaires was employed. Data was analysed using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23.0. Associations were tested using Chi square and p< 0.05, at 95% CI. Data was summarized as frequency distribution and chart. Result: Mean age of participants was 23.2 ±1.8. 354(88.5%) participants head about sexual violence prior to this study with one hundred and eighteen respondents (29.5%) being victims of sexual violence in one way or the other. 32.2% of them knew people who had suffered sexual violence. Commonest age of awareness was between 20-24 years(p=0.001). The source of sexual violence awareness was largely from friends (26%), face book (23.2%) and whatsap (20.3%) with least awareness from school teachers and newspaper (4.5%). Close relatives 52.6% were noted to be the commonest perpetrators of sexual violence, followed by family friends 31.6% and unknown persons 15.8%. Conclusion: There is high prevalence of sexual violence with little or no institutional based awareness program on sexual violence that is a threat to the general public.","PeriodicalId":272014,"journal":{"name":"Obstetrics & Gynecology International Journal","volume":"32 S112","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"141003642","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: Retrospective, observational and cross-sectional study, which included 352 embryos in blastocyst stage, obtained by intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) from 131 cycles of patients with implantation failure and who decided to perform preimplantation genetic study of aneuploidy (PGT-A) to the embryos that were transferred to the uterus, in order to improve the implantation rate. Results: Of the embryos obtained from donated oocytes, only those fertilized with semen diagnosed with teratozoospermia presented aneuploidy (26.6%). The rate of aneuploid embryos was similar when own oocytes were fertilized with semen diagnosed with normozoospermia or teratozoospermia (38.4 vs 37.07%). Finally, no relationship was observed between chromatin damage and sperm morphology. Conclusion: In patients who fertilize their oocytes with spermatozoa from samples diagnosed with normozoospermia or teratozoospermia, the rate of aneuploid blastocysts will depend mainly on the female factor, this does not rule out the possibility of aneuploid embryos due to the male factor. Different from what was seen in donated oocytes, where embryos obtained from semen diagnosed with teratozoospermia presented a higher rate of aneuploidy.","PeriodicalId":272014,"journal":{"name":"Obstetrics & Gynecology International Journal","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130630708","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our developing countries, it remains frequent with a still high mortality due to ignorance, late and non-systematized screening. Research question: do the caregiver profile and the hospital experience guarantee attitudes and aptitudes favorable to the early detection of breast cancer in female caregivers? Objective: Our study aimed to find attitudes and aptitudes favorable or not to the early detection of breast cancer of nursing staff in Douala hospitals, in order to better develop strategies for optimizing mass screening. Methodology: This was a comparative cross-sectional study with analytical purposes for a period of 07 months from January 15 to July 15, 2020 conducted by means of a structured and pre-tested questionnaire after informed consent obtained from the participants approached in the consultation units of these hospitals. The study variables were behavioral and practical. The data collected were entered and analyzed using SPSS 23.0 software (statistical package for social sciences) with a significance level established for a value of p < 0.05. Results: We selected 1000 women fulfilling our inclusion criteria, including 818 users and 182 caregivers, i.e. an average ratio of 4 users for 1 caregiver. In the study population, attitudes as a whole were good but not discriminating for the two matched groups. In contrast to attitudes, the caring nature (and probably its hospitable corollary) appeared favorably protective of bad practices for early detection of cancer breast (OR=0.21 p<0.0001*) Conclusion: At the end of our study, it appeared that the caregiver profile was protective against bad practice in early detection of breast cancer with, however, a persistent problem given the attitudes, which were certainly good, but similar to those of users whose practices used more traditional pharmacopoeia and religious beliefs.","PeriodicalId":272014,"journal":{"name":"Obstetrics & Gynecology International Journal","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124656454","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We collected the data over a period of one year. It took place over a period of time from January 25, 2021 to January 25, 2022 in the obstetrics gynecology departments of the General Hospital (GH) of KASENGA in the city of Uvira in the province of South Kivu in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The main objective is to determine the frequency of hysterectomy in this part of DRC and to determine what would be the gynecological indications. Only patients who underwent hysterectomy for gynecological indication were included in our study. We found that the frequency of hysterectomies for gynecological indications compared to all surgical activity was 12.5%. The average age of our patients was 54.2 years. The indications were dominated by hysteroceles (44%) and uterine myomas (20%). The approach was vaginal in 52% and abdominal in 48%. The hysterectomies were total in 92% of cases and radical in 8% of cases. We did not note any major complications except parietal infections which were in 16% of cases. All patients received postoperative antibiotic prophylaxis. No anticoagulant treatment was prescribed. After this work we found that hysterectomy is frequent at the Reference Hospital (HR) of KASENGA with the main indication, hysterocele according to the different degrees. We did not have many complications and this would be due to the early antibiotic prophylaxis. The improvement of socio-economic conditions, awareness and early detection should improve the conditions of care.","PeriodicalId":272014,"journal":{"name":"Obstetrics & Gynecology International Journal","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131013820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
