Groupware is a kind of software that supports coordination between individual users. An important feature of groupware is that the communication between the specified users is at a high frequency, which is determined by the applied coordination mechanism. Efficient communication in a groupware can support effective coordination between the users. This paper presents a topology-enhanced content-based network, which combines content-based communication with the topology between groupware users, to support content-based communication in groupware. We give a predicate-based method to define cooperation topology, which can effectively describe the topology between groupware users. We also propose a multi-level index structure to support efficient matching of cooperation topology in the forwarding mechanism of the proposed network. We implement the basic feature of our network and evaluate the prototype in a motivating scenario consisting of several coordination tasks. The results show that our method improves the message forwarding efficiency of 1 to 2 magnitude orders.","PeriodicalId":269952,"journal":{"name":"The 16th Asia-Pacific Network Operations and Management Symposium","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132399158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Though it can adaptively find alternative paths when link failure is detected, route recomputation in OSPF is CPU-intensive, and usually needs quite a long time to achieve routing convergence. Besides, the configuration in OSPF is rather complex. In this paper, we propose Sequoia Routing Protocol (SRP), a routing protocol with a dedicated shortest path calculation algorithm, designed for data center networks. By leveraging the observation that each data center has a fixed Clos topology, SRP largely simplifies routing configuration, and achieves light-weight computation. We show that SRP outperforms OSPF with a much faster convergence time by simulation in ns-3. We also implement SRP in real-world switches, showing that SRP is as efficient as OSPF even for a small-scale network where route recomputation of OSPF does not take a long time.","PeriodicalId":269952,"journal":{"name":"The 16th Asia-Pacific Network Operations and Management Symposium","volume":"51 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121992015","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition to the platform operability, cost considerations also affect a large portion of the decision results. If system programmers do not take the different business operation execution environments into consideration in the step of system development, when the system established complete, due to system requirements change or cost considerations and need to adopt other software solutions, migrate business operation systems to different application servers or relational databases will spend extra time and effort for system modifications. This paper proposed an empirical study with an instance of A&A (Authentication & Authorization) Management System (AAMS) to actually migrate between different kinds of application servers and relational databases, and proposed several common principles of system migrations and system design rules for variety of software solutions. The issue of power saving is very crucial for the success of service deployment. This paper presents a novel downlink scheduling approach to reduce power consumption while maintaining the receiving quality of video streaming in LTE network. The proposed scheduler considers the buffer length and channel conditions of user equipment (UE) to allocate radio resource, so that the UE can receive as many video packets as possible when the UE is in the RRC_Connected state especially with good channel condition, while the UE will stay in the RRC_Idle state the longer the better to save power given that its buffered video data is enough to play. The 1080P resolution video traffic model was applied for exhaustive simulations to examine the performance of the proposed scheme. The simulation results indicate the tradeoff between the power saving and signaling message overhead issues. And the impacts of related parameters are also studied in this paper.","PeriodicalId":269952,"journal":{"name":"The 16th Asia-Pacific Network Operations and Management Symposium","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130171934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

QoE focuses on the entire service experience, and is a more holistic evaluation than the more narrowly focused UX (user experience, focused on a software interface) and CX (customer experience, support focused). Measuring the bottleneck link bandwidth along a path is important for understanding the performance of many services. Existing tools to measure QoE are using distributed network probes to collect network information. It is a very costly monitoring architecture. This paper proposes a cost-effective QoE measurement architecture based on Software Defined Network (SDN) [1], adopting centralized control mechanism to measure multiple clients simultaneously. Voice over LTE (VoLTE) is a VoIP based multimedia service on All-IP based LTE network, which was initially introduced and commercialized by Korea telecommunication companies in 2012. As more and more subscribers use VoLTE service, the VoLTE traffic volume increases, and this may in turn lower down the VoLTE quality; therefore to preserve QoS of VoLTE service, we need to periodically monitor VoLTE traffic among LTE traffic, and perform appropriate actions to LTE network. To be the first step of realizing this goal, in this paper, we propose a VoLTE traffic classification method and its distributed processing architecture to achieve high throughput. For the classification, we analyze SIP/SDP packets for VoLTE service and generate VoLTE tailored SIP packet signature using SIP User-Agent header field. Since the proposed classification method is relying on Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) method, the classification accuracy can be guaranteed, yet it suffers from the poor processing performance. Therefore, we further propose a distributed and parallel traffic processing architecture with the help of HTCondor.","PeriodicalId":269952,"journal":{"name":"The 16th Asia-Pacific Network Operations and Management Symposium","volume":"324 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123127879","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although many advantages are expected, the introduction of NFV will greatly challenge current management systems. In this paper, we summarize some of the carrier's requirements for the management of NFV, based on which we propose vConductor as an NFV management solution. We say vConductor is innovative due to its characteristics of automatic service provisioning, end-to-end inventory management, and generic system design. To achieve these goals, we design a completely modular-based system structure and refine the process of provisioning a virtual network service. Furthermore, we propose a general data model, specifically for NFV, starting from the TM Forum SID.
