Linked to the roads are the surfaces dedicated to the roadsides where ecosystems, communities, communication networks, landscape, transport, among others, interact. In countries such as England, Belgium and France, studies highlight roadsides as potential sites for biodiversity conservation, generating ecosystem services for flood reduction, pollutant retention, noise abatement, carbon sequestration and many more. The impacts of roads on ecosystems and landscapes are generally related to the fragmentation of ecosystems, proliferation of invasive and allergenic species, reduction of native biodiversity, alteration of the hydrological cycle, microclimatic changes, production of particulate matter, noise, water and soil pollution. Roadside management can become a critical aspect of mitigating such impacts, as maintenance activities such as tree and shrub pruning, grass cutting, cutting frequencies, handling of residual plant material is complex due to the demand for large amounts of economic, technical and logistical resources. Recent trends of roadside verge research allow to highlight the need to adopt a transdisciplinary and systemic approach concerning territorial studies. Furthermore, we must also remark that it is vital that sustainable management of roadside verges develops a strong multidimensional vision from ecological, social, economic, technological and political points of view. In that context, this work proposes an integrated sustainability analysis for roadside management from an innovative approach to ecosystem services and bioenergy generation. The method is development of the first's stages of systems dynamics modelation.","PeriodicalId":269465,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation (ICE/ITMC)","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114597538","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Recent attention is being focused on the concept, particularly in Europe. However, the perception of RRI within MENA region is still required to be fuzzy and non-existent. This research aims to stretch the understating of RRI beyond the European countries to reach parts of the MENA region and its recent research and innovation trends. The research followed a qualitative Grounded Theory Methodology (GTM) to shape a proposed set of categories and themes presented as a final RRI framework towards some MENA countries engaged in the study (Jordan, UAE, and Bahrain). Data was collected via Semi-Structured interviews for tackling potential creation of synergies amongst entities involved in IS/technology research. The Practical implications delivered a pragmatic contribution to the ethical and societal build-up of IS research in MENA, aiming to achieve a transformative power of recent technological research.","PeriodicalId":269465,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation (ICE/ITMC)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115819180","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The concept builds on (1) a personal digital twin as a Gemini of the patient, (2) a group digital twin modelling the designated user group of the software, and (3) a system digital twin for the software product itself. Beside the elaboration of the digital twin concept, we present the strengths and limitations of a digital twin based software design and development approach for health and medical software. The approach deliberately entails a better support of agile development techniques in comparison to the V-model based classic software development in this field of application.","PeriodicalId":269465,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation (ICE/ITMC)","volume":"110 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115456220","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

New perspectives in the development of museum experiences are being open which impacts the overall functioning of these institutions. To design experiences that are adapted to enhance the visitor experience appropriate methods are required. User experience design and Living labs approach offer tools to support this process. In this paper, we document the experience of the renovation of the Museum-Aquarium in interaction with the Fab Living Lab platform, the academic innovation space of Nancy, France. We present the process of the development of three interactive and digital experiences based on ideation, rapid-prototyping, and test by use. This experience presents the methods and shares the lessons learned in this process. The work performed can serve as references for the development of other museum interactive installations. Furthermore, we identify potential transfer to other domains.","PeriodicalId":269465,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation (ICE/ITMC)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124858408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their applications, studied and implemented to date, confirm that they are a valuable tool in the evolution process from the traditional factory towards the Smart Factory, in the direction promoted by Industry 4.0. Different definitions of Digital Twin have been proposed by the scientific community with the aim of providing the one that could uniquely and consistently describe all the applications already featured. Such effort to create a unique definition of Digital Twin is very important since it may allow researchers to have guidelines for better understanding the different aspects of its main concepts. The present paper reports a systematic research on the state of the art, especially from recent literature, to show the main issues that could not allow univocal definition of Digital Twin. The aim of this work is to apply the principles of System Thinking to the definitions of Digital Twins already presented in literature. The result of this approach has made possible to represent the well-known concepts in a completely new conceptual framework allowing a potential strengthening of both the theoretical foundations and the tools with the aim to support the development of Digital Twins.","PeriodicalId":269465,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation (ICE/ITMC)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128284201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve competitiveness, they use their traits (genotypes), expand their internal resources or the existing elements and components (phenotypes) with new elements and components i.e. innovation. Another aspect of competitiveness is the genotypes need to assist their innovations (or phenotypes) to cumulate as stable designs in their services/products (phenotypes). The extent to which organizations combine their generalist and specialist phenotypes decides the characteristics of its phenotypes, thereby, their competitiveness or height in the fitness landscape. Organizations acquire phenotypes (products or organizations) but their genotypes decide the extent to which the acquired phenotypes assist them in increasing their height in the fitness landscape. As organizations expand phenotypes it requires combining genotypes that assist both short-term aspects, economic and financial, and the long-term aspects such as equilibrium with natural and built environments. In fast-changing systems such as IT, organizations face considerable challenges in developing phenotypes by combining short-term and long-term genotypes. By selecting an IT organization and examining the extent to which phenotypes and genotypes increase its height in the fitness landscape, we can contribute to the existing body of knowledge on sustainable development, especially for fast-changing systems.","PeriodicalId":269465,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation (ICE/ITMC)","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127738430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is important to understand that digitalization is not an easy process to implement; it required to create a well-planned business process first. This business transformation of phasing out conventional way and moving towards real time data driven system accomplished only with all stakeholder involvement and system integration. This whole change required a huge capital investment and high user involvement. This makes pivotal to understand the success before implementation and at the same time quantify the success parameters. From the literature and feedback taken from construction experts fourteen success determinants are identified and further interrelationship and prominence ranking are established using Grey DEMATEL method. After analysis determinants ‘Proper digital implementation monitoring’ is having maximum interrelationship with remaining determinants and also a most causal factor, whereas alternative ‘Effective risk management planning’ is having minimum interrelationship with remaining factors. This work is aimed to focus the construction professionals regarding success factor to implement digitalization in construction.","PeriodicalId":269465,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation (ICE/ITMC)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116356536","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The duration of sleep periods each day is a key factor to health status and, in general, to a person's health and wellbeing. In face of those facts, it is important to have a measurement of sleep duration and bodily activity during this sleep. In the last years some fitness devices in the market have been designed to track activity and provide indications about calorie expenditure as well as intake, along with specific sleep indicators. Such measures lack precision, as most of those are wrist worn devices and thus providing intelligence about upper arm movement while lacking in information about the steadiness of the human body as a whole. The present work explores some existing static solutions in the market and provides a feasible alternative for sleep movement detection. The research aims to study the sleep patterns of cancer patients that have undergone treatment cycles, thus providing indicators about their mental health status.","PeriodicalId":269465,"journal":{"name":"2020 IEEE International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation (ICE/ITMC)","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123811282","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
