In this paper, we specifically analyze the rapid de-loading rotor speed response of a typical VSWT, and divide the process into four stages. Among them, we show that the third stage, when the rotor accelerates over the rated speed and the pitch control gets into action, is the most critical in terms of the maximum rotor speed during the transient phase. Then, based on the characteristics of the response trajectory, we propose an estimation method to calculate the maximum de-loading amplitude to ensure that the transient rotor speed does not exceed the limit. Taking into account the stochastic nature of residential loads and the possibility of photovoltaic generation, a Monte-Carlo simulation is performed in order to account for the probabilistic aspects of the problem.In this work, different transformer ratings are simulated and the effect on power quality parameters, such as voltage unbalance and voltage total harmonic distortion (THD), is calculated under probabilistic basis. In the perspective to broad its use for better treating spinal injuries, new clinical protocols with higher current intensities are likely to be adopted. However, these can be introduced without a previous assessment of safety, which is not yet investigated for the current 3 mA stimulation. Safety of this technique is mainly associated to the temperature increase due to Joule heating not only in the spinal cord and nerves but also in the skin and in the possibly more vulnerable organs. In this study, temperature increase induced in these organs of different human body models is assessed through a computational approach which solves Laplace equation followed by Bioheat equation. In this framework, the Aggregator has a main role and takes on different relationships with the other actors of the power system, usually becoming a mediator between the prosumers and the distribution system operator. The DEMAND project introduces a new point of view in demand side aggregation by proposing a new framework where the Aggregator is no more needed and prosumers can share and combine their flexibility in a new aggregation platform called Virtual Aggregation Environment (VAE). In this paper, an algorithm for the day- ahead estimation of each prosumer’s flexibility is presented. The algorithm evaluates various couples of power variation and desired remuneration to send to the VAE for further elaborations. The gearbox convertor achieves a compliance voltage of ±2.5V. Through the use of frequency scaling, the convertor features output currents in the range of 1µA to 1mA, outclassing other state-of-the-art power efficient potentiostats. A hysteretic control loop and a seperate hysteretic comparator allow the potentiostat to be used for both voltammetric and ampere-metric experiments. Simulations demonstrate a peak efficiency of 87%, and a competitive overall efficiency. This system can be used as a communication channel for severely disabled patients as well as other applications for healthy people. In this study, a BCI game was implemented based on classifying steady state visual evoked potentials (SSVEP) that occur in occipital lobe when a subject is exposed to a visual stimulus flickering at a certain frequency using canonical correlation analysis (CCA). In the experiment, the subjects were expected to move a square to specific locations using four visual stimuli with different frequencies. This task could be completed at 1.4 seconds in the best case scenario. The subjects completed this task at 1.4 seconds in the best run, 36.22 seconds in the worst run, and 8.57 seconds in average. To this end, a case study consisting of 250 houses connected to the distribution network through a MV/LV transformer substation has been investigated and implemented in the experimental microgrid built at the Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy. The analysis has been performed by comparing three different energy providers: the utility grid, the utility grid with the inclusion of non-programmable renewables generators, and the inclusion of such residential loads into a smart microgrid. However, testing of quadcopter prototypes still has a risk of damage due to faults and unexpected behavior. Hence, a method of testing of quadcopters in simulation mimicking the actual conditions of the real environment in an actual hardware test has been proposed. For this purpose, Gazebo simulator integrated with ROS has been chosen for the simulation of the path of the quadcopter.
