This work is an extension from our previous work on assistive grousers attached to a rover wheel to improve performance on soft terrain, where traversing and climbing performance for wheeled rover is improved on steep slopes up to 30-degrees by using assistive grousers rather than conventional fixed grousers. Thus, new experiment correlated with the assistive grouser must be developed for further understanding of the sand-grouser interaction. It was observed that the performance of assistive grousers to reduce sinkage and generate forward traction is influenced by the assistive grousers angle of attack, shape and size. Consequently, for this study we developed a single wheel rover testbed to measure the effects of grouser angle of attack on traction force generated. Grouser attack angles that were experimented are 0,10,20,30 and 40-degrees, on a 0-degree slope sand surface. It was observed that during a grouser’s movement, there are instances where a forward and backward traction was generated depending on the position of the grouser during wheel rotation. This was hypothesized to be caused by the imbalance in traction generation by the inner and outer side of the grouser, and also due to the variance in traction force generation by multiple grousers moving under the sand surface at the same time with different speed due to geometric constraints of the assistive grouser horizontal movement. It was concluded that for 0-degree slope, a 0-degree angle of attack is the most effective, and there is considerable effect of using multiple grousers and distance from the wheel on grouser traction generation. Results indicate that the shape of the grouser could increase the effectiveness of the grouser for a future study.","PeriodicalId":268233,"journal":{"name":"2023 19th IEEE International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124975077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its ability to percept the surrounding environment in 3D space makes it more practical to implement in a real-world application. Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR)-based 3D object detection gains its popularity and many approaches have been proposed to achieve state-of-the-art performance. On the other hand, Graph Neural Network (GNN)-based approach for 3D object detection is still in early development as compared to other approaches. Point-GNN is one of the first architectures to implement GNN in the Lidar-based 3D object detection task. While Point-GNN achieved leading accuracy in the KITTI detection benchmark, it has low inference speed which makes it not sufficient to be implemented in real-time applications such as an autonomous vehicle. In this work, we propose a method to improve the inference speed of Point-GNN by observing the contribution of graph scale and graph radius in the graph construction part of Point-GNN. The proposed approach improves the inference speed up to 2.83 times faster than the original Point-GNN while maintaining the degradation in overall Average Precision (AP) not exceeding 3.5%. In addition, we also observed the contribution of different features in the GNN layer to improve the overall AP by adding distance and local neighbor state as new additional features in the GNN layer. The proposed model gains up to 0.22% improved performance in BEV AP and 0.35%in the 3DAP.","PeriodicalId":268233,"journal":{"name":"2023 19th IEEE International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114654848","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to inefficient design, most street lighting nowadays wastes a lot of electricity. A smart city’s key aims in streetlight management are energy economy and simplicity of maintenance with little manual labour. This research has designed an intelligent street lighting system that incorporates an automatic control mechanism for energy savings. The light intensity, the Wi-Fi network and the status of the streetlights were designed and monitored. An ESP32 microcontroller was used to process the sensor values and controls the output devices from the motion sensors and Light-Dependent-Resistor (LDR) sensors. The controller and sensors are powered by their Photovoltaic (PV) system. The solar panel is connected to TP4056 which acts as a charge controller for the Li-ion battery. The result has identified that the low-dropout (LDO) regulator power achieved consumption is 4mA. The clock speed of the ESP32 is reduced from 240Mhz to 80Mhz in reducing the power consumption. There is no performance issue was observed with the reduced clock speed. The use of light-emitting diode (LED) as the light bulb and controlled brightness provides lower power consumption of about 63.5% for 11 hours of usage. The use of solar power shows that street lighting is no longer needed to connect to the grid, and it is significant compared to conventional street lighting which consumes a lot of energy and requires a high cost of maintenance.","PeriodicalId":268233,"journal":{"name":"2023 19th IEEE International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129354242","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In investigating this method, three algorithms are used: Neural Network-Genetic Algorithm (MLNN-GA), MLNN with backpropagation (MLNN-BP), and averaging method. MLNNGA and MLNN-BP are inputted with four pH values from distant adjacent locations on a similar basin. MLNN-GA and MLNN-BP utilize GA and backpropagation respectively to update the weight. GA optimizer is used in MLNN-GA where the result of each learning weight will be the initial weight of the next learning process. All three methods are compared based on RMSE, MSE and MAPE. MLNN-GA yielded the lowest average RMSE =0.026265, average MSE =0.000886 and average MAPE =0.003985 compared to MLNN-BP (average RMSE =0.042644, average MSE =0.002648, average MAPE =0.006862) and averaging method (average RMSE =0.136629, average MSE = 0.026128, average MAPE =0.150400). Noticeably, estimating unsampled pH value utilizing neighboring pH by using MLNNGA shows a better performance than MLNN-BP and averaging method.","PeriodicalId":268233,"journal":{"name":"2023 19th IEEE International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122354069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Anabas Testudineus (Puyu fish) is one of the favorite aquatic creatures that have been bred for commercials used and needs to be handled carefully for their healthier life habitats. Aquarium’s water becomes unclean due to the reproduction of algae, waste from the fish, the palette, and others. Hence, a Smart IoT-Based Aquarium Monitoring System for Anabas Testudineus (AMSAT) has been designed and deployed to ensure that the water in the aquarium is safe and clean for Anabas Testudineus breeding. NodeMCU controller was used and connected to pH and temperature sensors with an embedded Wi-Fi module built into the microcontroller allows the smartphone to connect with the cloud for real-time data collection. The Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and Lighting Emitting Diode (LED) are connected to view information on the water condition. Arduino software (IDE) is used to generate code while the Blynk data analytic platform will presents analyzed data via a smartphone. Four tests were done to measure the pH level after feeding the fish with and without a water filter in 2 and 3 days. Results present the pH value has dropped the lowest for Test 2 at 5.66 pH value compared to 7.17, 7.31, and 7.06 after feeding the fish for 2 days and with filters. This system has been successfully viewed and monitored in real-time via Blynk mobile apps on the pH and temperature levels. Because of the availability of lowcost, high-resolution digital cameras, issues related to confirming the authenticity of digital images have been highlighted. The term ‘‘ manipulation’’ refers to the changing of any image’s objects or contents without giving any indication that anything has changed. In general, image splicing is one of the most popular techniques used to fake images. Image splicing is the process of adding or hiding things by copying portions of one image and pasting them elsewhere in the same image or into a different image. There have been several image splicing forgery detection surveys throughout the past few decades. However, neither the image forgery detection algorithms-based manual engineering features nor the image forgery detection algorithms-based automatic engineering features are covered by these surveys. This research provided a comparative analysis of image splicing by gathering several techniques and classifying them according to the features they employed, based on manual engineering features and automatic engineering features.","PeriodicalId":268233,"journal":{"name":"2023 19th IEEE International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"84 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128734544","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since soil salinization affects the plant growth which affects agricultural production and food security, it needs to be monitored and managed well. The existing field devices for assessing soil salinity are expensive (> US${$}$ 150 for the sensor alone). So, a lowcost sensor (about US70) has been designed for assessing soil salinity by measuring soil moisture and electrical conductivity (EC). The device uses oscillation frequency shift technique for measuring soil moisture, and electrical resistivity is used for bulk EC measurement. The sensor prototype has been designed and tested using downward infiltration method with 14 soil samples. Regression models have been developed for soil moisture estimation from frequency measurements. Pore water EC has been estimated from bulk EC measurements for determining soil salinity. The regression models developed for soil moisture estimation from frequency has R2 ranging from 0.92 - 0.95, which is significant for accepting the models. The bulk EC measurements were transformed to pore water EC, and a threshold regression model has been developed from for determining soil salinity at different moisture levels. The threshold pore water EC regression model has an R2 of 0.74, which is acceptable for determining salinity from pore water EC values.","PeriodicalId":268233,"journal":{"name":"2023 19th IEEE International Colloquium on Signal Processing & Its Applications (CSPA)","volume":"4590 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115012033","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
