Codes are constructed based on a property, in which the generator matrix of the code can be represented based on the generator matrix of shorter codes. Considering this structure, it is concluded that punctured bits considered for a code can also be used as the punctured bits of the longer code. This leads to implement a puncturing algorithm that can be used for the short or long length codes. Conducted simulations confirm that the new puncturing technique outperforms the previously proposed ones. This is evident for different code rates.","PeriodicalId":268205,"journal":{"name":"2017 11th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ICSPCS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130238792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first stage performs classical learning and inference based on features calculated directly from the data. The second stage learns and infers the final diagnosis using diagnostic labels generated at the first stage. Since both stages are trained independently, the learning results of the second stage do not alter the learning results accomplished at the first stage. This important property enables the generation of more complex, multi-channel and/or multi-level machine reasoning systems consisting of algebraically connected basic two-stage units. Classification tests showed that in almost all tested cases, the accuracy achieved at the first stage was further improved by the second stage of classification. This means that primary learning from the data can be improved by secondary learning from mistakes made when classifying the data parameters.","PeriodicalId":268205,"journal":{"name":"2017 11th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ICSPCS)","volume":"278 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122128500","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to enhance spectral efficiency, a base station communicates with two users simultaneously in the same frequency band by superpimposing the transmit signals to the users in the power domain. Specifically, the user with the worse channel conditions is allocated higher power such that it is able to directly decode its signal from the received superimposed signal. At the user with the better channel conditions, the interference due to NOMA is processed by successive interference cancelation. Given these system settings and accounting for decoding thresholds, we analyze the outage probability of the NOMA system over Rayleigh fading channels. Furthermore, based on the locations of the users and eavesdropper, the secrecy capacity is analyzed to assess the level of security provided to the legitimate users in the presence of an eavesdropper. Here, the decoding thresholds of legitimate users and eavesdropper are also included in the analysis of the secrecy capacity. Through numerical results, the effects of network parameters on system performance are assessed as well as the the superiority of NOMA in terms of secrecy capacity over traditional orthogonal multiple access.","PeriodicalId":268205,"journal":{"name":"2017 11th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ICSPCS)","volume":"32 6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123800097","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper proposes an on demand mechanism, in which a sensor node uses its local clock to generate timestamps for events that it senses, and then the timestamps can be synchronized to a reference time base. By decoupling the synchronization operations from the data communication, the transformation of timestamps can be optimized independently from the delivery of data packets. The simulation demonstrates that the proposed scheme can achieve a tradeoff between protocol overhead and synchronization accuracy.","PeriodicalId":268205,"journal":{"name":"2017 11th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ICSPCS)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130100016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To register images using phase correlation related by similarity transforms a translation invariant log-polar remapping of the images is required. This operation requires the computation of an additional two 2D FFTs plus two log-polar transforms. This paper proposes an alternative approach that eliminates the need to compute the log-polar transforms that reduces the number of FFTs required to register images and reduces overall computation time.","PeriodicalId":268205,"journal":{"name":"2017 11th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ICSPCS)","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126479709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed antenna is backed with a low profile metallic reflector. The cavity reflector is utilized to significantly improve gain and reduce back lobe radiation. The antenna has a compact size of 36×36 mm2, meaning it is compatible with any CubeSats standard structure. We have simulated the antenna on a 2U CubeSat (10cm×10cm×20cm). Our results show that the antenna achieves good impedance matching with a return loss of −30 dB at the desired frequency of 2.45 GHz, a −10-dB impedance bandwidth of 109 MHz (2.391–2.50 GHz) and has a total gain of 8.62 dB.","PeriodicalId":268205,"journal":{"name":"2017 11th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ICSPCS)","volume":"131 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115532811","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context, antenna array based Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) receivers with array signal processing schemes allow the spatial separation of line-of-sight (LOS) from multipath components. In this paper, we propose a Procrustes estimation and Khatri-Rao factorization (ProKRaft) filtering approach to separate the direction of arrival (DoA) and complex amplitude factor matrices, which are then used to filter the correlated code for each impinging component. Our scheme outperforms the Higher-Order Singular Value Decomposition (HOSVD) based eigenfilter approach, and the direction of arrival and Khatri-Rao (DoA/KRF) approaches, which are the state-of-the-art tensor based scheme for delay estimation.","PeriodicalId":268205,"journal":{"name":"2017 11th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ICSPCS)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124335860","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Given some maximum allowable delay, we define the effective symbol loss probability to be the probability that a symbol is received too late or not at all. Consider a network with three nodes; source, relay, and sink. The source encodes data using an erasure correcting code, the relay decodes, recodes, and finally the sink decodes using Gaussian elimination. We compare the effective symbol loss probability of systematic triangular block codes, dense block codes, and systematic convolutional codes. For a wide range of packet loss probabilities and allowable symbol delays, our results show that the systematic triangular block codes are superior. Our results also show that the field size does not affect the gain in effective symbol loss probability.","PeriodicalId":268205,"journal":{"name":"2017 11th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ICSPCS)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126682814","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Call Detail Records (CDRs) contain considerable users' traffic-related information, e.g., the user ID, service begin time, service duration and the communication cell which the users connect. Combining with the position information of base stations, CDRs substantially reflect the users' activity trajectories. In order to efficiently analyze the massive traffic data from the view of user mobility, several technical challenges have to be tackled including data collection, trajectory construction, data noise removing, data storage and analyzing methods. This paper introduces a mobility modeling method for wireless big data. The mobility modeling is based on real traffic data collected from 4G cellular networks including 3 different cities in a western province of China. Our experiments discover the user's mobility feature, changing of city hotspots and the mobility patterns. By considering location data trends across all users, it becomes possible to understand mobility on many important applications such as traffic prediction, radio resource optimization and allocation, mobile computing and urban planning.","PeriodicalId":268205,"journal":{"name":"2017 11th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ICSPCS)","volume":"42 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116118374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, efficient radio resource utilization is of paramount importance to guarantee the expected performance, even in high contention situations. It is also necessary to guarantee that the growing number of SRDs operating in the adjacent band of Long Term Evolution (LTE) do not degrade its performance, and vice-versa. In this work, the operation of SRDs in a building automation application scenario is assessed using a Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) channel access scheme for multiple SRD densities. CSMA is considered both as a standalone access scheme and in coexistence with another random channel access scheme — Duty Cycle (DC). Simulation results have shown that the SRD system underperforms if the transmission power is too low or too high, which means that, in order to obtain the best performance, the transmission power of CSMA nodes needs to be carefully adjusted taking into account the operating area. Moreover, CSMA is proven to successfully operate in the presence of dozens of DC sensors, although at the cost of more energy required for retransmissions. Finally, with respect to the LTE and SRD coexistence scenario, the analysis shows that the LTE User Equipment (UE) emissions may impair the SRD system; on the other hand, the impact of SRD emissions on LTE UEs is insignificant.","PeriodicalId":268205,"journal":{"name":"2017 11th International Conference on Signal Processing and Communication Systems (ICSPCS)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130999915","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
