The first is Imokgumi, a region where Yi Sun-shin was on the path of inspecting his territory just before the Imjin War, and the second is Hwajungumi, one of several regions where the Joseon navy fought just before the Battle of Busanpo. The third is Wondugumi, a region near Hansando Island where the headquarters of the Joseon navy was located during the Imjin War. And the fourth is Gunyeonggumi, a region where Yi Sun-shin was on the path of rebuilding the Joseon navy before the Battle of Myeongnyang. The review of the locations of these four places deserve serious study. However research on the four ‘gumi’ places has not yet been properly conducted. The purpose of this paper is to review the locations of the ‘gumi’ places in Nanjungilgi and Imjin Jangcho. As a result of examining various related historical records and research materials, the location of Imokgumi could be determined and the location of Hwajungumi could be estimated. As for Gunyeonggumi, it was reviewed whether the location estimated by the recently published related paper had the characteristics of the ‘gumi’ topography. It is difficult to find related materials that can identify the location of Wondugumi, so the review of this will be postponed to a later date.","PeriodicalId":268197,"journal":{"name":"The Association of Korean Cultural and Historical Geographers","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128091818","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For this, the second section explains a rail-system in terms of nexus system and panoramic landscape which John Urry suggests as the characteristics of the rail-system which is a kind of mobility system. The third section reviews the historical process of construction and relocation of the Daegu Line, and suggests its spatial implications. The fourth section explains a spatial fix from the old Daegu Line to Daegu Line Park in terms of changes from rail (nexus) to pedestrian (series) system, and from panoramic to balcony view. Significantly, the article argues that while being dependent on the elements of the rail-system space of the old Daegu Line, the new pedestrian system space of Daegu Line Park is constructed. That is, the mechanical elements of the rail-system which had connected places were transformed into material and symbolic elements constructing the identity of place in the pedestrian spaces.","PeriodicalId":268197,"journal":{"name":"The Association of Korean Cultural and Historical Geographers","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122258132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study focused on analyzing Sangyeongpyo published by the JosonKwangmunhoe(朝鮮光文會), which is the most recently published and widely used edition among the available editions. Eight different editions of Sangyeongpyo, including the one published by the JosonKwangmunhoe, were compared and examined in this study. A database was constructed for mountain ridges and genealogy of mountains composing Sangyeongpyo, watershed areas, and social, historical, and cultural characteristics in the areas were analyzed through the paths of the mountain ridges and the points in the Jimaek therein. The results showed that there were differences between the eight editions, such as in the expression of the major mountain ridge systems. Further, upon examining the Sangyeongpyo edition by JosonKwangmunhoe, we found that 1,586 points constituted 15 mountain ranges. Upon classifying these points into types, we found that there were not only mountain geomorphological types but also places of historical and cultural significance such as Eupchi(邑治), Jinbo(鎭堡). Lastly, the paths and points in the mountain ridges described in Sangyeongpyo were selected primarily considering the distribution of the administrative system of the late Joseon Dynasty period, as well as the connectivity of the mountains ranges leading to them. Furthermore, regardless of the status of topographic watershed classification or dominance of mountain ridge, the applicable path was selected with a priority for mountain ridges described in Sangyeongpyo when there were major points with historical and cultural characteristics as a social community. This study is significant in laying the groundwork for preparing basic data for the development of a more modern and scientific reconstruction of the traditional mountain ridge system through the restructuring of the genealogical descriptions in Sangyeongpyo into a modern network code method, building a DB, and mapping based on the Historical Geographic Information System.","PeriodicalId":268197,"journal":{"name":"The Association of Korean Cultural and Historical Geographers","volume":"140 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115812806","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From the perspective of governmobility, refugees are not only politically interpreted, but also become a tool to represent the position of the receiving country. As a result of the keyword analysis on Afghanistan refugees in Korean newspaper articles, Afghanistan refugees were only an issue in Europe and Western countries until the 1990s, but are now at the center of refugee issues in many countries, including South Korea. The background of the change is related to the internalization of refugee issues, mainly focusing on the nation’s inclusiveness to refugees. Also, the domestic refugee issue is not composed of homogeneous forms and contents, creating new discourses and various political spaces.","PeriodicalId":268197,"journal":{"name":"The Association of Korean Cultural and Historical Geographers","volume":"180 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126950240","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From the early days of the Joseon Dynasty, Feng Shui was recognized as a major national academic field by government officials, and was one of the exam subjects of Gwageo (bureaucratic recruitment) system, and professional bureaucrats were appointed to government posts. Immediately after the Imjin War[壬 辰倭亂], King Seonjo mobilized the idea of Feng Shui as a theoretical basis to restore the main landscape elements of Hanseong destroyed by the war. However, after the late Joseon Dynasty, the idea of Feng Shui was criticized by many bureaucrats and Confucian scholars, and even the king added it. Even harsh criticism from some official historians followed the king for his excessive favoritism of Feng Shui. In particular, during the reigns of king Yeongjo and Jeongjo, critical opinions on Feng Shui arose greatly. After the late Joseon Dynasty, Feng Shui was greatly reduced to the level of Eumtaek[陰宅風水] in charge of the location or relocation of royal tombs. At the same time, unlike the early Joseon Dynasty Period, when the meaning of ‘geography=Feng Shui’ was strong, in the late Joseon period, ‘geography concept with a meaning different from that of Feng Shui’, like the usage examples in King Jeongjo’s ‘Geography Policy Questions[地理策問]’, certainly existed.","PeriodicalId":268197,"journal":{"name":"The Association of Korean Cultural and Historical Geographers","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129245959","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We tried to extract spatial statistics on the distribution of religious sites using the zoning information of the Korea Land Information System and to interpret their meanings. Nationally, the religious population decreased by 15% in 2015 compared to 2005, while the number of parcels for religions increased by 38% in 2018 compared to 2008. The total areas of parcels for religions increased 42%. In addition, parcels for religions showed a cluster distribution, and the degree of clustering in 2018 increased in comparison with that in 2008 across Korea. We investigated Busan Metropolitan City in detail. In this case, we found very low correlation between the total population and areas of parcels for religion, and that both Kangseo-gu, new-developed area and youngdo-ku, old town showed an increase in a huge cluster. We discussed the meanings of statistical figures and the necessity of qualitative and quantitative research.","PeriodicalId":268197,"journal":{"name":"The Association of Korean Cultural and Historical Geographers","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132901004","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the relationship with the woodblock print, there are cases which are simply copied. In other cases, errors on maps were corrected. And in some cases the map folder system was changed, and the toponyms with the geographical notes were added. Based on the form and contents, the maps were classified into four types. Among them, a group of modified copy edition in which four maps were included has common characteristics in terms of form and contents. The size and geographical contents of those maps show that this transformation was modeled after a woodblock edition in the National Diet Library, Japan. Even though many of the geographical names and notes were originated from the previous manuscript editions of large-scale Joseon maps, newly added notes contain the historical geography of Joseon. The fact that those manuscript copies were made in the 19th century shows that there was a continuous demand for Daedongyeojido. And the addition of contents in maps is for the overcome of the limitations of woodblock maps.","PeriodicalId":268197,"journal":{"name":"The Association of Korean Cultural and Historical Geographers","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132940210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the absence of husbands due to their international labor migration, Dalit women were exposed to multiple socio-economic, health and hygiene vulnerabilities due to the intersectionality of caste, class, and gender factors. This study shows that the husband’s continued labor migration without returning home can be understood as a survival strategy and the only hope for the poor Dalit households to receive material support for recovery from earthquake damage.","PeriodicalId":268197,"journal":{"name":"The Association of Korean Cultural and Historical Geographers","volume":"323 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121839140","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Myeongsan-ri was very prosperous during the Japanese colonial era as there was a grilled eel restaurant along with an eel canning factory by the Japanese, but after the liberation, the Japanese withdrew from the country and failed to inherit their reputation from the past. Gujinpo has flourished since the 1960s, but its influence has weakened as the construction of the Yeongsangang Estuary dam has shifted from natural eels to cultured eels and formed a large-scale grilled eels food culture. This paper analyzed who Japanese tourists were, where they visited, and what transportations they used for tourism. The types of accommodation, and meals they had while travelling were also analyzed. In this analysis, we attempted to capture changes over time. As a result, most of the Japanese who visited Pyongyang were teachers, and most of them traveled on a two-day or one-day schedule. The main tourist attractions they visited were scenic spots that existed before Japanese colonial era, but most of them were also places covered with the history of Japanese invasion. The Japanese government encouraged tourists to remember the expansion of the Japanese Empire at tourist attractions in Pyongyang. The development of modern transportation, represented by railroads and automobiles, had various influences on Japanese tourism to Pyongyang. In addition, although the Japanese toured colonial Joseon but slept in Japanese-style accommodation and mainly ate Japanese food.","PeriodicalId":268197,"journal":{"name":"The Association of Korean Cultural and Historical Geographers","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122383803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
