Prior to performing IPSec functions, shared session keys must be safely and secretly established between the two communication parties, usually two security gateways. Internet Key Exchange (IKE) protocol is the most common mechanism for two security gateways to exchange key materials. However, the original IKE is too flexible, complex, and vulnerable to DoS attack. Several enhanced IKE versions have been proposed to replace the original one. In this paper, we propose a new IKE version and analyze it extensively. The latest and most related version proposed in 2004 is used to compare with our version. Performance of the proposed algorithm in both the AWGN and the multipath environment is presented. Testing is achieved by simulating different measurements. We modify the testing measurements of infrastructure-based networks to be compatible with the characteristics of MANET. Moreover, we add some new features and their associated measurements that we believe important for testing new proposed IDS. The modified measurements with the new added ones form a set of measurements that will be used throughout the testing process. To the best of our knowledge, there has not been any work done for testing IDS in MANET. Simulators are the most common tools used for testing the IDS. Therefore, we add some precautions for choosing a simulator and a list of available simulators. The precautions will help researchers to test the measurements efficiently and the list of simulators will guide them to select one according to their needs. They assist their users in finding appropriate information. Among the many challenging issues in the design of Web search engines that is mostly related to the design of an adaptive interface is recommending suitable query phrases to the end-users. This has two major benefits: firstly the users can more easily interact with the Web search engine and secondly get hints on what is more apt to look for in cases where they may not have any clue. In this paper, we propose a graph based query recommendation algorithm that sequentially recommends query terms to its users. The most important notion behind the design of the algorithm is that the past behavior of previous users of a search engine is mined and a multi-segmented graph is built. The concepts related to autonomic computing in computer networks leads to the development of a new concept: autonomic networks. This kind of network is able to perform self-management of its elements and data communication links. Smart environments represent the next evolutionary development step in building, utilities, industrial, home, shipboard, and transportation systems automation. In those scenarios, wireless transmission is complex and often problematic, where a number of conditions such as multipath interference, transmission collisions, and obstructions adversely impact the reliability, scalability and data throughput of high bandwidth communications. This tutorial will present a perspective on autonomic wireless networks to be employed in the scenarios described above. Based on the EM algorithm, we first present a novel pilot-aided CFO estimator that allows fast Fourier-transform (FFT)-based fast implementation. Then this CFO estimator is incorporated into the initialization step of the iterative receiver. Optical switches are becoming more popular because of their faster switching speeds and higher reliability as compared to their electronic counterpart. Suitable scheduling algorithms are needed to be developed that will improve the utilization of the switch bandwidth, as well as reduce the scheduling overhead. However, most of the present scheduling algorithms try to optimize either the switch bandwidth or the overhead. In this paper, we propose one new scheduling algorithm named as hybrid maximal matching (HMM) that provides a perfect balance between these two performance criteria and proves itself suitable for large size optical switches. The developed algorithm exhibits noticeably better performance (up to 1.4 dB) than traditional DFT-based methods due to improved noise filtering if the channel is characterised by a sparse power-delay profile.
