In Business-to-Business, this may be particularly interesting for organizations in an extranet. In our previous work, we proposed a broker to perform the web service replica selection. Furthermore we investigated a replica selection algorithm called minU and performed a preliminary analysis comparing random replica selection algorithm in a simple 4-node ring topology. In this paper we present a detailed performance analysis of mini and the factors affecting its performance under a larger 11- node network. The factors are weight given to most recent utility value (p), weight given to communication delay (a) and replica placement to name a few. Results show that the response time achieved using the minU replica selection policy greatly depends on these factors and also on the topology used. For instance, as the weight given to the most recent utility value is increased, the response time of the Web services decreased. We present a user friendly toolkit that simplifies the process of building robust and extensible wireless sensor networks, with our first target application being long-term environmental sensor networks. This project includes a programing language called the sensor Web language (SWL), an Eclipse-based graphical user interface for writing SWL programs, and a compiler for generating a complete stack of deployable sensor network code. The protocol, in addition to optimally minimizing the total energy consumption of all sensors over all rounds of data gathering, also balances the load on them. The algorithm works in polynomial time complexity and is completely centralized. We consider the problem of topology design for such a network. To solve the problem, we modify existing methods for topology designs to take into account the topology limitation imposed by an existing power grid. For the design, we adopt a two-level hierarchical architecture consisting of a central backbone connecting multiple access networks. We separate the design into two steps. First, we select the concentrator or backbone nodes and their node members by solving a modified version of the well-known concentrator location problem. Second, we find the connections among concentrators subject to the two-connectivity constraint on the backbone topology. Selection and connection of concentrators are done using integer linear programming (ILP). To reduce the amount of computations involved, as an intermediate step, we provide a method for simplifying of the power grid graph to reduce the problem size for the second step. On the communication side, historically there have been multiple, parallel networks servicing different types of traffic. Cost pressures are forcing convergence to a single IP-based network. Simultaneously the computing world has been steadily moving from monolithic applications to client/server systems, and from there to arbitrary distributed applications. In making this move, the computing world has typically viewed the network as little more than a high-speed bit-pipe, with the primary focus being on services provided by end hosts. This approach has a number of limitations, including replicated functionality, complex system coupling, and limited ability to integrate applications across different networks. In particular, over the years, space syntax analyses have been shown to correlate highly with pedestrian movement and hence are regularly used as a predictive tool, to forecast relative levels of people-flow along streets. Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are wireless networks that are self- creating, having an unfixed and constantly shifting topology. This paper demonstrates how ad hoc networks based on pedestrians carrying mobile wireless devices can be simulated using the theory of natural movement. These proposed STF codes are constructed based on the multi-dimensional constellation preceding so that the rotated version of the information symbols are spread across adjacent subcarriers and sent over M1 transmit antennas and Mb time periods, allowing effective exploitation of space, time and frequency diversity. The performance of these STF codes with two transmit antennas over the IEEE 802.15.SG3a channel models are compared at the same spectral efficiency. It is shown that our proposed codes outperform well known schemes found in the literature such as rate-1 SF codes, which guarantee full diversity. Performance of OFDM systems is sensitive to non-perfect frequency synchronization, which leads to frequency offsets and a consequent degradation in system performance. In cellular systems, there is a tradeoff between link quality and capacity; both are controlled by cell cluster size. Smaller cluster sizes gain higher capacity, yet they cause an increase in co- channel interference, which degrades the system outage probability performance. Moreover, a key technique for reducing co-channel interference is sectoring, where a single OMNI directional antenna is replaced by multiple directional antennas. In this paper, the performance of OFDMA cellular systems with sectoring is investigated aided with extensive simulations. In the communications sector there has been considerable effort put into reducing the scale of protocol stacks and making them more power efficient. In previous work, we have presented a method for realizing lightweight reconfigurable communications protocols based on code division. This protocol, called Distance-Based Segmentation (DBS), is a cluster-based protocol that divides the entire network into equal- area segments and applies different clustering policies to each segment to reduce total energy dissipation and hence prolong the lifetime of the network. To evaluate the DBS protocol, a simulator was implemented using the MATLAB software. Simulation results show that the DBS can achieve as much as 16% reduction in total dissipated energy as compared with conventional protocols. In addition this protocol is able to distribute energy load more evenly among the sensors in the network, and hence yields up to 24% increase in the useful network lifetime.
