The focus of work is on the inverter control stages. A key feature of the control scheme is that it uses only those variables which are locally measured at the inverter. So there is no need of communication between the inverters. Real and reactive power sharing between the inverters is achieved by controlling two independent parameters at the inverter- the power angle and the fundamental inverter voltage magnitude. The control algorithm makes sure that the total load is shared between the supplies in accordance with their rated power levels and the frequency of the supplies are restored to the rated values after the transition. Simulations are performed in MATLAB SIMULINK environment with Sine PWM control and Space Vector PWM control.","PeriodicalId":265646,"journal":{"name":"ISGT2011-India","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128321772","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper demonstrates the use of energy storage as a solution to reduce these variations by using certain operational modes.These modes will lead to reducing the cycling of conventional power plants thus, leading to a more stable grid frequency and also minimize the mechanical stress on turbines. With an increase in ancillary resources, utilities can generate higher revenues, and reduce variations in their area control error (ACE). A nonlinear model for a lead acid battery is used to implement the operational modes. A load-frequency control model, is used model the frequency variations within the band of ±1% of grid frequency.","PeriodicalId":265646,"journal":{"name":"ISGT2011-India","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121333068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The CRIG is connected to a local grid and supported by a BTB-VSC which regulates bidirectional power flow through a d.c. link. The CRIG is capable to feed partial load connected at the local grid in grid connected mode. In case of isolation, the connected load on local grid is scheduled to match the power rating of CRIG. Frequency at CRIG terminal is regulated by supplying/drawing real power to/from the local grid, whereas voltage is regulated by dynamically compensating reactive power demanded by the load. The scheme thus enforces the drawl of only the rated real power component of current from the CRIG terminals. The proposed scheme is current controlled and thus have better response, simple, easily implementable and requires lesser hardware. Implementation of the proposed scheme done through simulation in Matlab/Power System Blockset and the effectiveness of the system is gauged through simulation results.","PeriodicalId":265646,"journal":{"name":"ISGT2011-India","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117300797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This system is simple and consists of a switched reluctance motor driving a centrifugal water pump powered by a PV array. This motor is cheaper, efficient and reliable than conventional AC and DC electrical machines used for this type of application. This is because of its simple construction. PV array in this system is always operated at its maximum power point (MPP) by controlling the motor input current. A simple control system has been devised to achieve maximum power point tracking of the PV array. The feasibility of this control system has been demonstrated through dynamic simulation of the system developed in MATLAB/Simulink environment. Various simulation results are presented for different insolation levels of sunlight and at different temperatures.","PeriodicalId":265646,"journal":{"name":"ISGT2011-India","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115732253","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper has attempted re-configuration of non-autonomous and autonomous micro-grids based on ranking of buses, formed with 60% and 100% penetration of the distributed generation respectively. Reconfiguration has been suggested in this work as a measure to improve the voltage profile of the system and to reduce the real power distribution losses. MATLAB code has been developed for ranking of buses based on loading capability and for optimal sizing of the DGs using Genetic algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization techniques. The standard 33 bus distribution system has been used to validate the proposed reconfiguration algorithm.","PeriodicalId":265646,"journal":{"name":"ISGT2011-India","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127633122","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
